This is one of my touchstone books that I return to over and over again. I re-read it almost every year and have seen a lot of film adaptations of it. Not only does it give a glimpse of a fascinating time and place – the Orient Express in the 30’s – but the structure is very clever. Agatha Christie was very innovative and I find that inspiring. …
I wanted to sneak this one in before the new movie comes out this month, and I’m so glad I did! It’s a fun, easy read that kept me guessing til the end.
So, this book just chugs along with twists, turns…always keeping you guessing even after you have drawn your own conclusion and then BAM!!!! An ending I didn’t even consider. This woman was a freakin’ genius! So glad I never watched any of the adaptations and ruined the surprise. Murder on the Orient Express is my second Agatha Christie novel to …
Have loved Agatha Christie for years and have enjoyed reading all of her books. But I have to say that Murder on the Orient Express is and always will be my favorite.
I thought it was about time to read some Agatha Christie and what better book to begin with than Murder on the Orient Express. All the characters were well realized (I could picture them all) and the story progressed efficiently without any extraneous details. However, I’d was hard pressed to figure out the answer to the mystery. I felt a little …
One of my all-time favorite books. The twists and turns of this story keep you guessing until the big reveal and it has a very satisfying ending. I feel that this is a must read for any mystery fan or fiction fan in general since it is such a classic. Definitely read the book before you see the movie.
A large group of suspects for the great Hercule Poirot to choose from in this book! I really loved this story, unfortunately I figured out who-done-it before the corpse was cold. To be fair, Miss Christie’s book is a whole lot of fun. Seeing how Poirot’s mind works is fascinating. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a good solid murder …
After reading this remarkable book, I was astounded at how clever Agatha Christie is at strategizing and clever weaving such a mysterious plot.
Agatha Christie knows how to keep the reader in the book at the right momentum. .
I also loved the imaginative names created, loved the way she included a drawing plan, it was just a superb read, very …
5 stars to Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express. I chose to read this Christie spectacular after finishing “And There Were None.” She’s such a treasure – never disappoints.
A train. A murder. Multiple suspects. Nearly an alibi for everyone. But wait, there’s a motive for everyone. How did this seemingly impossible murder occur? Hercule …
I first read this in my amazing English Lit class at Winston Churchill High School in Michigan. And I loved it. It was my first foray into the world of Agatha Christie and she quickly became one of my all-time favorite mystery writers.
This time around [for my cozy mystery challenge] though, I chose to listen to the audiobook of this on Hoopla. …
Agatha Christie was not called the Queen of the Locked Door Mystery for nothing. This is Christie at her finest. The mind that brought Miss. Markle and Hercule Poirot to life delivers one of her best. Wit, mystery, and the quirk that is everyone’s favorite Belgian Detective.
It is curious when a book has so much fame, such reputation, such hyper for so long, yet somehow I had not read it, had not gotten spoilers about it, and STILL impressed. A detective whodunnit that even though I paced myself, found the last 100 pages or so impossible to stop reading. Improbable, impossible, ludicrous, al the things come to mind …
Read it bc i wanted to watch movie after the book and i flew through it the setting was great it was hard to keep track of all the characters, so many characters, but everyone had different voice of their own so it was easy that way. Liked the ending, first time Heard of ending like that. Gonna pick up next book in the series soon.
Okay, I think this one is pretty well-known: Murder on the Orient Express, by Agatha Christie. Hercule Poirot, a Belgian detective who works in London, has just finished solving a case for the French Army in Syria, and is now on his way back home, though he plans to spend a few days sight-seeing in Istanbul. In Istanbul, he receives a telegram …
Classic
The Whodunnit BIBLE. Just the best.
A fun and light whodunnit with interesting characters. Thoroughly enjoyable.
This is one of Agatha Christie’s most infamous stories, and for good reason.
I can’t for the life of me recall if this is one of her books that I’ve read before. It would have been over a decade ago… so it’s possible that this is a reread, but who knows? I may be remembering the movie (the old one with Albert Finney, not the new one that I have …
It is a good read, but not one of my favorite of my favorites.
This is my favorite mystery novel as well as my favorite Agatha Christie work. The story has an intrigue that keeps the reader wanting to know the identity of the murderer. Hercule Poirot is a masterful detective and a delight as the main character.
