Jeff Resnick hardly knew his well-heeled half-brother. But after suffering a fractured skull in a vicious mugging, he reluctantly accepts the fact that he has a long and brutal recovery to face—and his closest of kin can provide him with the time and place to do it. Now, Jeff is haunted by unexplained visions of a heinous crime—a banker, stalked, killed, and eviscerated like a ten-point buck. … ten-point buck. When Matt Sumner’s murder is discovered, a still-recovering Jeff realizes this was what he had seen. Jeff must not only convince himself of his new-found psychic ability, but also his skeptical brother Richard Alpert. Since Sumner was Richard’s banker, both brothers have a stake in finding out what happened. With Richard’s reluctant help, Jeff’s investigation leads him to Sumner’s belligerent family and hard-nosed business associates, none of whom want him snooping around.
When Jeff discovers a second victim, he knows he must relentlessly chase his quarry even if it means risking his brother’s life.
“This fine paranormal amateur sleuth will send readers shuffling off to Buffalo to accompany Jeff on his investigation.”

“Nicely written and quite twisty.”

“Murder on the Mind was a very compelling read, the plot tight and well-paced, and the relationships among the three principals (Jeff, Richard and Brenda) fascinating and cozy. I found it difficult to put down.”

When Jeff Resnick begins to recover from a severe brain injury, he discovers he has the ability to sense past events –including a murder — but nobody believes him. Resnick is a fine character, with a strong sense of right and wrong. This is a page-turner.

“Put yourself in Jeff Resnick’s shoes: You’ve suffered brain damage from a vicious mugging, and now you ‘see’ allegorical visions of murder in troubled nightmares and in even more troubling, conscious hallucinations. L. L. Bartlett does a wonderful job of showing us how difficult such a life can be as Jeff tries to overcome his own tragedy by using his new gift to investigate others. Beautifully written in a stark, spare style, MURDER ON THE MIND is a perfect choice for anyone open to a paranormal thread in a lovingly woven crime novel.”

One of my favorite guilty pleasure TV shows was “Medium”, a show about a happily married mother who happened to be a psychic and helped the police solve crimes. Jeff Resnick has the same problem as “Medium”‘s Allison DuBois: he gets sudden — unwelcome — psychic flashes into a murder. Unlike Allison, however, Jeff’s life is far from settled. …
I give this 3 and a half stars…a totally different type of mystery. I was immediately drawn to the three major characters…Jeff is widowed, jobless, and recovering a horrific beating. His step brother Rich is a doctor, older, inherited money and is in love. Brenda is smart, talented, in love with Rich but also African American and not …
Awesome book
Who is Jeff Resnick?? Why does he have psychic abilities?
Jeff Resnick is mugged in Manhattan and left with broken bones and a fractured skull. He is having visions of a hunt and Hunter.
Seems the attack left Jeff with psychic abilities to see things like murder before they happen.
Jeff’s half brother Richard brings him back to Buffalo to …
What I enjoyed most about this compelling book was the premise of a man being brutally mugged and hospitalized, who afterwards discovers he now possesses a sixth sense. Though troubled by his visions and the physical sensations of violent acts and fearful emotions, he realizes he has the ability to bring murders to justice, thanks in part to his …
I really enjoyed the book. It jumped right in, kept you going and ended well. I immediately put the rest of the series in my wish list. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves crime series.
Finished it in 2 days between work couldn’t put down. Now I have to read the series.
Good book, great characters.
Interesting characters, but there were some good plots that weren’t fully developed.
I have read several of this author’s books and have truly enjoyed them, including this one.
The first page will hook you. Atmospheric, interesting concept, good writing. A nice blend of the hero not sure what’s going on, and going down the rabbit hole anyway.
Some nice surprises.
Great read!
Creatively crafted and a true page-turner. Very hard to put this one down!
I really liked the characters and the story was engaging. The story arc was believable and done well. I would not hesitate to recommend this story to others.
Loved it!
I liked it. Would recommend if you like paranormal (psychic).
Another book i enjoyed. Will read more by this author.
A well written story.
Slow, boring start leading to a disappointing end.
The story was interesting, but the writing was not.
