Wowowow
I immediately liked it. Cassia behaved just a tad immature at the beginning. Only at the beginning though. It took a while for the actual case to commence, but a world needed to be built so that was fine. I found myself enjoying the story. And then there was a point where I realized: I don’t like it anymore.
…
I love it.
Cassia doesn’t know she’s a witch. But she does feel like she’s living the wrong life somehow.
And then she rediscovers Brimstone: another world that lies behind Gran’s cellar door. A world full of supernatural beings. And once she’s been back to Brimstone, she can’t just go on with her old life anymore, can she?
It was super exciting! With two loyal familiars. Twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. Imaginative things happening. Very well written. No loose ends. But clearly more to come in this magical world!
Was it perfect? Maybe not. Was there room for improvement? Yes. But was it really, really good? YES! Was it worth the read? YES! Will I be reading the next installment? YES!!!
Murder Of A Werewolf (A Brimstone Witch Mystery Book 1) by April Fernsby is a fun murder/witch mystery that involves witches solving a murder of a werewolf without getting killed themselves. A fun romp in a town of Brimstone, a place that they get to by going through their basement door. It is a world within our world. A fun and delightful story full of magic, witty humor, and great imagination. A cozy murder mystery of the supernatural kind!
Pretty entertaining.
I enjoyed the development of the characters and the supernatural element.
Nice paranormal mystery.
Great quick read with interesting characters and creatures. Can’t wait to read the next one in the series.

Title:
Appearances can be deceiving . . . .
This book starts with a young lady visiting her gran (dmother), never realizing just how much it ll change her life. She has an unique experience that re-opens her mind upto a life that she never thought could happen to her.
{It s always interesting how beings act when after their upbringing, they confront something for which they haven t any frame of reference for. If it could be a result of magic, we can sit back and watch as they try to explain it away from a scientific point of view}.
Many of the other-side town s residents aren t as they first appear. It s great that over time they ve learned to ignore the outside view and paid more attention to the individual s inside.
In some respects the other-side town has (ways that re similar to some of our ways to communication) some of the beings have a collective consciousness, and they use them for “text messages”. {How they do it seems better, (IMO)).
I don t know, but I think the author cast a spell over me. You ll have to read this and the rest of the books in the series to see how she did it. . . .

This is one of the little light reading books that is good to ‘clear your palate’. It isn’t a great book, more like a beginners book. Some of you will love it some will hate it. The plot was okay, the characters a little over the top for me. It filled in the spot between a couple of thick, heavy novels that I’ve been reading.
A good urban fantasy.
Love the series
This book kept me going It was a page turner no doubt. I couldn’t put it down!
Great characters
Find out what they thought was suicide wasn’t, it was murder. But who most everyone liked him. Witch Cassie and her cat investigate. Every time she goes into forest you think this is it.Cassie uses her magic and suspects keep growing because of all the twists and turns
Adore it!
A fun Mystery book with great characters. Very entertaining.
Would be well suited for middle schoolers. Authors writing is definitely at that level. Too simplistic for adult reading.
I will buy more in this series. I enjoyed this book.
Murder of a Werewolf was rather disappointing. I was promised a unique magical detective story. What I read, however, was not unique: a Mary Sue character discovers her magical heritage and powers, embraces them, needing little to no training, and releases herself from a miserable life (complete with narcissistic controller) and jumps headlong into her new life (complete with perfect, hot, new love intrest). This theme describes far too many of the books I’ve read over the last few years.
The magic theme was contradictory and confusing. Our heroine has a natural propensity for magic, shown by her ability to make daisies fly when she was a child. The magic is said to require no spells or wands, but she is later told that she needs training in spells and witches never use another witch’s wand. Of course our heroine performs every magical feat she attempts perfectly.
The detective part of the story is clumsy and confusing as well. Our heroine boasts of her expertise in detection, citing a myriad of popular television shows as her training. She then proceeds to interview handful of people about the personality of the victim; everyone gives pretty much the same information. She then suddenly knows who the culprit is! The reader is given no explanation as to how our heroine reached this conclusion, so we must presume that she finally has listened to her magical gut feeling. There are no clues for the reader to follow along with, no logical connecting of dots later. The reader must simply accept the vague reasoning that this was the natural conclusion of the investigation.
To conclude this review (I have many more complaints, but you don’t want to read that long), between the cliché themes and the clumsy writing, there is nothing in this book that would tempt me to read the sequel.
Fun read. Very entertaining, I couldn’t put it down!
