Easy to follow and very entertaining…
Description was so vivid I could smell the water in Venice canals, and the smoke from the fire.
A fun read “Traditional English ” murder mystery. A fun book. The lady detective solves the mystery (with the help of her friends) and nearly becomes a statistic herself.
L. B. Hathaway’s Murder in Venice is a Posie Parker mystery. This book, the first Posie mystery I’ve read had so many plots and subplots that it was confusing. However, the historical facts and setting were well researched, the writing well done and convoluted as it was, the mysteries made sense in the end.
Greed, Revenge, and Treachery
This is a sequel, but could be enjoyed without reading previous books.
Posie Parker has traveled to Venice to, at last, marry Aleric.
A suspicious death leads to uncovering old wrongs that need to be righted and new crimes that need solving.
It’s refreshing that Posie is not yet another amateur sleuth, but instead a real detective who readily works with authorities rather than plowing forward with her own agenda.
No sex
No strong language
Action without gory violence
Suitable for teen- adults
I have not read any other books in the series, but having recently visited Venice, I thought I’d give this a read. I enjoyed the period and writing style. On the whole, the writing is tight and doesn’t feel overly padded. The book almost has several endings, for reasons only clear to the author. I agree with other reviewers when they say how improbable the wedding story was and that Posie didn’t talk to Alaric about Silvia and the nature of their relationship. The story is certainly evocative of Venice and the period and the winter descriptions are atmospheric, you felt the cold, the smell and the pervasive damp. On the whole, I enjoyed it.
