Maggie Newberry is an advertising copywriter who’s fast on her feet and a little stunned to realize that she’s over 30 and still hasn’t found true love. When her long missing sister ends up dead, Maggie flies to the south of France to find the little niece that no one in the family even knew existed. Along the way, she finds handsome, sexy Frenchman Laurent Dernier to help search for the girl. … Meanwhile, her sister’s murderer sets his sights on the little girl—and Maggie.
(Alors: Laurent’s classic boeuf en daube recipe at the end of the book!)

Good ,easy read
I really did not like this book and could not connect with any of the characters. The first two thirds of the book dragged on with the main character running in circles and then she suddenly is enlightened and solves the multiple murders. As a reader I felt like I was watching the action, but not a part of it. The introduction of the main …
I liked this book a lot. I felt like I was in France because the author described it so beautifully. I liked the story line too it kept my interest. It’s a book I’ll remember for a long time.
The first book in a great series. I loved this book and I have enjoyed reading others in the series. The characters grow and develop in the course of the series. Lots of great information about living in France.
A book in a great series of books from this author.
This series of books are set in France. She is an American married to a Frenchman with a vineyard.
She also considers herself a detective, which always leads to a mystery & trouble.
Really enjoy the books in this series. Main characters are very believable, good dialogue, good plots, and interesting settings. I look forward to more.
Those who read this series should be happy.
I’ve read later books in the Maggie Newberry series, so it was really fun to read the first book of the series and see how the characters that I love so much began!
This was a “slow” read. Not worth my time.
I engaging characters. I rarely quit a book midway through but I just didn’t care about the characters I moved on to a new read.
I found this a little weird and depressing.
Really enjoyed this first book and am now reading the second. I’m sure i’ll Continue as I want to know what happens next!
Very unrealistic. Characters , plot – one really had to stretch the imagination.
Won’t read another one by this author, although I’m always attracted by books about/set in France.
Liked this book so much. I purchased all 12 books in the series and cannot wait for number 13. Held my interest so much had to keep reading until I ‘d finished.
I have read several by this author, but they are formulaic.
Other books pass the time with more pleasure.
Quick summer read if you can ignore some spelling and grammatical inconsistencies
Like the entire series by this author. Nice trip back to France and have become attached to the main characters.
I did not find this book to be a very realistic scenario. Actually I found it to be a little sad that a young woman with such promise goes off to Paris to become a great artist and becomes a drug addict instead. Then her naïve sister goes looking for whoever did this to her. it was rather depressing.
This lady is a good author and although this is the first one of hers that I have read I have several more of hers to read.
