Maggie Newberry is an advertising copywriter who’s fast on her feet and a little stunned to realize that she’s over 30 and still hasn’t found true love. When her long missing sister ends up dead, Maggie flies to the south of France to find the little niece that no one in the family even knew existed. Along the way, she finds handsome, sexy Frenchman Laurent Dernier to help search for the girl. … Meanwhile, her sister’s murderer sets his sights on the little girl—and Maggie.
(Alors: Laurent’s classic boeuf en daube recipe at the end of the book!)

Terrific story
I enjoyed the book but it seemed a bit disjointed at first. Almost like 2 stories going on at the same time. The author does bring it all together though at the end. It had lots of twists to keep me guessing who the killer really was, although I did guess the truth about the little girl.
The characters are just not well developed, it was like pages of back story were missing. I nearly quit reading a few times, but did read to end, was disappointed that neither the story or the characters were redeemed. The plot had potential, but the writer’s convoluted storytelling made it confusing and the characters were not relatable. Would …
A fun read for when you don’t want more than entertainment. A bit unrealistic in the romance part, but that’s okay when all you want is a pleasant distraction.
I love this series
I was so excited to get the next book only to be disappointed by how annoying Maggie’s self-righteous attitude towards the police and investigation has become. Too bad, as I have enjoyed the previous books very much.
Thoroughly enjoyable.
How did she have her phone to call when just before that we are told that she says the police kept her purse and phone??? There were several of these glitches in the book and that bothers me. Story could have been clearer and told crisper.
Didn’t hold interest
Couldn’t get into it
Events did not seem to flow. Seemed to leave gaps
Sorry. I wanted to like it but just didn’t care about the characters and it moved too slowly to be interesting
I enjoyed this book. I have read others in this series, so finally found out how Maggie and Laurent met! A great whodunit, interesting characters, didn’t want to put it down. Would have been a 5, but some editing issues (electronic version) – just enough to break the flow occasionally.
Decent mystery taking place in France. The locations and descriptions were fairly interesting and the characters mostly believable. Some inconsistencies with storylines and character development. Okay for a free read.
Did not think the acceptance of the protagonist’s love interest was believable.
Original story with great characters.
Good book but a little too long
Can you give a book zero stars?
Book was O.K. Easy read.
A wonderful summer read or relaxing read with a hint of French country lifestyle.
