Rosamund York, one of the most celebrated authors in attendance, is killed.
Rosamund had as many enemies as she did admirers, including envious fellow novelists, a jealous former lover, and dozens of angry fans. It was fairly predictable, and I read it quickly. I feel that I’ve missed some background, though, so I will check out other books by the author and see if there is a prior book in the series. It is enjoyable escapist reading.
Valentine’s Day is coming up and Jane Steward is hosting an event for romance lovers at Storyton Hall, a book-themed resort. But soon after things begin, the body of one of the most popular authors, Rosamund York, is found dead. It turns out that Rosamund had a lot of enemies so Jane has to whittle down the suspects before someone else is killed.
I’ve read Ellery’s Charmed Pie Shoppe series as well as her Secret, Book, and Scone Society series, loving them both, but this series is new to me. I enjoyed this book, which is second in the series, very much and read it in one sitting. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and kept hooked throughout. The book’s well-written with wonderful characters and believable relationships. I’m eager to read the next book and highly recommend this one although I do suggest you read the first book of the series beforehand.
I love this series. The setting is fabulous, every time I read one of these books I long for a vacation in a destination just like Storyton Hall. However, I happily setting for the next best thing reading this series. Mrs. Adams has the gift of weaving a story so well the reader loses oneself in the story. The characters are likable, relatable, and complex. I feel as if I’m reading about lifelong friends. The mystery is well-crafted with lots of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing until the big reveal I look forward to reading many more installments of this series.
All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone.
I love this series! If you like country retreats, books, great food and friendship this series is for you!
Another great book by Ms Adams.
Ellery Adams has a of making her books unique and charming. That’s excited what this book was. Along with a few magical moments.
These are decent books – the premise is good, there are added surprises that add to the book and for the most part, I like them [though some of the names are lame, even in this quaint town]. My problem with these books is the narrator. Who should NOT BE A NARRATOR. Her “voices” are not great [except the little boys voices which are the best that she does] and she kind of drags on the story with how she reads. It makes it really difficult to stay engaged with the story and makes me unsure I want to continue with this series – I was able to get through this one by focusing on the story, but I know there were times where my attention drifted, even when the story was good.
I may try one more of the books, but I am not sure. I will see if I need one for my challenge and cannot find a better one. 🙁
Another murder happens in Storyton Hall a book themed resort. Jane Steward and her fellow club members and her family are working to find the killer. So many suspects that were filled with hate for the victim. Especially love the backdrop and story of Storyton Hall. This is a great series.
This was a great read. I ordered three more books in the series after finishing the book.
Good book. I’ve enjoyed the series. Wish this was a real place.
Great series!
I enjoyed this book. I really like this series as well
I loved and the whole series!
This book is such a great treat. All the characters are interesting, each with their own special talent. The story is so entertaining and the mystery kept me guessing till the end. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I didn’t realize how much romantic was going to be in this book. I don’t like side issues getting in the way of the mystery. Therefore, I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. It is well written and the scenery was fun and enjoyable.
Different. Good strong characters and no wimpy heroine!! Good storyline.
Great book reading it right now can’t put it down.
Not as good as Ellery’s usual.
Ellery Adams is a wordsmith! She writes intelligently while still entertaining us. Well done.
