Autumn has come to Cedar County. It’s harvest time. The trees and vines in the orchards and vineyards are heavy with ripening fruit. For the tourists flocking to the tasting rooms of the region’s vineyards, the land- scapes and seascapes provide an elaborate tapestry of rich colors and textures.
However, there is one discordant note in this pastoral splendor, the crumpled body of an international … international wine maven has been discovered in a steeply terraced vine- yard of merlot grapes. As Sheriff Ray Elkins quickly discovers, the roots of this crime run from the legendary chateaus of Burgundy to the exclusive watering holes of Chinese billionaires.

Enjoyed
Well written novel tying the Michigan wine business into the industry at large. Local politics, industry and policing move the story along. Good buildup to a climax with a good resolution.
Fairly good read, but theclimax was awful.
I enjoyed this book set in wine country of Michigan. I liked the character development and will read future books by this author
Nice twists and turns in wine country
OK read. Hard to believe that a councilman, after being so hard on the sheriff, would be into murder and in a plot to sale wine.
I liked it a funny sister romp
I love Ray Elkins character the sheriff , the small town politics, human nature, well written and developed.
I liked it.
I found this to be a decent mystery, with a wide variety of characters that provided a number of “persons of interest.” The plot was a bit slow in several parts, mainly because the author became enamored of description and detail. I thought the book was informative due to this detail, but it wasn’t presented naturally in a manner that supported the story flow. For example, the main characters would engage in soliloquy that lasted for pages. This was informative but hardly realistic.
A well written mystery with multiple characters who could be the culprit. Clever detectives who put the puzzle pieces together, resulting in a surprise ending.
Being a Michigander I especially enjoy the settings of Aaron Stander’s Ray Elkins novels. The plots are tight and the character development is very realistic.
I love this series. Great characters and good plots. I also like the descriptions of life in upper Michigan, the people, weather and employment opportunities, or lack of them. If you like a good folksy mystery I recommend this series highly.
Another shining Ray Elkins murder mystery! I thoroughly enjoy Ray and his insights, intelligence, and persistence…
Really enjoyed the fast pace and ease of reading as well as the twists and turns of the murder mystery
Like the book and love the series. Writing is great and fun to read. However, there are so many things from other cultures that I need an explanation for and maybe a translation for the French.

I really limed kt.
This series is interesting, engaging, and I look forward to each book in the series.
I usually like murder mystery but this one failed to interest me so I abandoned it before finishing. I don’t do that often.
