Autumn has come to Cedar County. It’s harvest time. The trees and vines in the orchards and vineyards are heavy with ripening fruit. For the tourists flocking to the tasting rooms of the region’s vineyards, the land- scapes and seascapes provide an elaborate tapestry of rich colors and textures.
However, there is one discordant note in this pastoral splendor, the crumpled body of an international … international wine maven has been discovered in a steeply terraced vine- yard of merlot grapes. As Sheriff Ray Elkins quickly discovers, the roots of this crime run from the legendary chateaus of Burgundy to the exclusive watering holes of Chinese billionaires.

Kind of slow
Enjoyed reading this book.
Great story line. I couldn’t put it down.
The characters in this mystery had depth and were well developed. They made the reading go quickly, but the plot was a bit thin and I guessed the ending about three quarters thru.
I like all of the Ray Elkins books there just aren’t enough of them
An enjoyable blend of wine, location and murder.
This entry in Aaron Stander’s Ray Elkin series is a solid mystery that was able to surprise me without forcing a solution. It brought back many memories of Northern Michigan, describing they scenery and lifestyle perfectly. I am looking forward to reading more.
It was ok…
It was a good book but for some reason a slower read for me.
I didn’t care who murdered the person.
it was a little boring
Good reading…..
Well constructed plot.
great story and
I would recommend. Good read
Really like Sheriff Elkins books. I think this is Aaron Standler’s best book. They are all situated in Michigan. A rural sheriff who is also a foodie is a different kind of guy. He and various lady friends also kayak in some of the many bodies of water in that state with some hair raising results from time-to-time.
I’m a fan of this series, but was somewhat disappointed with this offering. The ending wasn’t well crafted and the character development seemed incomplete.
Easy to read. Wasn’t predictable. Liked the characters.
This was a book I couldn’t put down!
very good book
I enjoyed it. I would not top rate it, but it’s a pleasant read.
