Autumn has come to Cedar County. It’s harvest time. The trees and vines in the orchards and vineyards are heavy with ripening fruit. For the tourists flocking to the tasting rooms of the region’s vineyards, the land- scapes and seascapes provide an elaborate tapestry of rich colors and textures.
However, there is one discordant note in this pastoral splendor, the crumpled body of an international … international wine maven has been discovered in a steeply terraced vine- yard of merlot grapes. As Sheriff Ray Elkins quickly discovers, the roots of this crime run from the legendary chateaus of Burgundy to the exclusive watering holes of Chinese billionaires.

This a fun cozy mystery. The relationships among the protagonist and her family and friends are warm and funny. Satisfying mystery.
I have enjoyed every book in this series. The story is interesting and since I lives in the area it is fun to recognize places
Very good storyline and characters. Held my interest.
I’ve read the whole Sheriff Elkins series and really like it. When I’m reading the books set in Michigan in the winter, I feel the cold. This is a really good series and I look forward to more of the books.
Aaron Standler is one of my favorite authors currently writing. The characters are believable, as always, and I have all his books currently available on book Bud. Having worked as a reporter in “criminal” cases, these books are realistic, and I LOVE them.
Great Plot and action. Intriguing finish,
I am from Michigan and enjoy the regional references. The entire series is interesting
Definitely a good read. Interesting insight into the wine industry. The plot twists just enough to keep you guessing and reading.
Fails at making the down home protagonist actually seem down home.
Easy read, plot not given away too soon. Found it a little hard to engage like in some other books.
Sheriff Ray would be a great sheriff in any town.
Some good twists and turns, but the ending was a little weak.
This was a pretty quick, easy read. I did enjoy the mystery, but it was just average, in my opinion.
Good mystery. Like the characters.
Ubrwewarubf xgExrwe swcwkionwbr,
great book for wine lovers
Enjoyed this book; great writer!
Light reading with a good story.
Stander never fails to hit his mark!
I like this author and enjoyed reading the book up to a point. That point was the ending. I think the author rushed through the unexpected ending segment and didn’t really develop it in an interesting way. I like to learn new things when I read a book and I enjoy the author’s description of kayaking and the wine industry in upper Michigan. I have read other books by this author and will continue to read his work.
