This was the first time I’ve read a novel by Ms Grace and I will be reading the next one in this series. I loved all the characters: Lacey, Tom, Gina and Ivan. The author takes her time to set up the scene in the tiny town of Wilfordshire instead of just rushing into the mystery. It gave me time to soak in the atmosphere of the place and understand Lacey. Once the murderer struck, I couldn’t put the book down. And I would never have guessed whodunnit. It was an absolute fun to read and I can’t wait to read the next one and see how Lacey and Tom’s relationship develops.
Although some of the events are highly improbable especially the time frames it is well written and I did enjoy this sweet cosy mystery. With a mystery to solve, humour and a hint of romance, it’s a perfect read for cosy mystery fans looking for a relaxing, easy read.
Confusing , dry plot
Murder in the Manor, a Lacey Doyle Cozy Mystery, Book One, by Fiona Grace, was everything I’d hoped for and more. A tight, well written British Murder mystery with twists and turns and romance and suspects and pastries. I love Lacey Doyle. I am ready to start Book Two.
I enjoyed this murder mystery regarding a newly divorced American starting over in another country. She meets a wonderful baker/chef, a mean jealous shop owner, a rich old lady who may have known her father she hasn’t seen since age 7, is accused of murder and adopts the smartest dog. Easy to read and pass the time on a rainy cold day.
Sorry for my bad English, I’m using Google translator to help me rs
I’m Brazilian and I discovered your book on the Kindle and I want to thank you immensely, as I was on a literary fast for over 2 years, I usually read a lot, but for some time now I’ve been stopping and I’m dying to read the second, the third and all yours books.
Captivating characters, thought-provoking story that made me very curious to know where Lacey’s father is and what happened to him. I fell in love with Tom together and hated Tarym with all my strength. Thank you for such an intense and wonderful story!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. In fact I’ve purchased the sequel.
I have read all the books in this series and this one doesn’t disappoint.
I wish the murderer would have been more of a surprise.
Loved this book!
This first in a series is charming, with comfortable characters and an interesting mystery to solve. The setting is in a small seaside village in Britain, the heroine has a fascination for antiques, and the combination is just perfect.
I felt as if I was transported to a seaside town in England – the story was great, the characters kept me engaged and the real murder was almost a surprise, I bounced back and forth between ‘who done it’. Well done.
I had a hard time with this one. It sounded like it was written by an American pretending to be British trying to *sound* like an American. I had other issues with this book as well, like referring to grown-a**ed people as “the children” when they are the same age or older than the main character. How hard would it have been for the author to refer to these people as “Iris’s children?” It would have taken the weirdness down a notch. I pushed through and finished the rather predictable ending, but the only character I enjoyed was Tom, the potential boyfriend, and, of course, the dog.
Good story to start off this series. I would have liked a little more character development with some of the secondary characters. Such as Tom. Needs more background on personality. Kept me interested, & I bought the other books in this series.
Originally I wasn’t sure I would finish it but as I got further into it it grew on it. I wanted to find out who had killed Iris. I also expect there will be a romantic interest between Lacy and Tom and I intend to read further books in the series to see how that transpires. And then there is Taryn; nothing like a bitchy neighbor to add a little atmosphere.
Fun book.
A good mystery with a little romance thrown in – What’s not to like???
A good read – will follow this author.
An enjoyable read.
A life crisis, getting to know herself, and trusting her instincts–Lacey learns a lot.
Good for a first novel
