Could not put this book down, loved it!
Entertaining and unpredictable. I would recommend to those who enjoy a good mystery.
Susan Kiernan….. is a wonderful writer. Keeps ones attention, I’ve lost many a night’s sleep, couldn’t put it down. Her plots are excellent and one even learns a bit of French along the way, and about tasty French food as well. All her other series excellent as well.
Good characters, great plot and fun to read.
I’ve read a few of her books and find them drawn out and somewhat tedious. Really don’t know why I keep reading these books. I don’t like to give a poor review because I know the authors work hard writing their books but I think a review does a disservice if it’s not honestly given.
A bit to slow moving
Always enjoy books by this author! Entertaining!
It was okay but kind of boring and it kept shifting from one person to another in the book. I did not like that part cause it was distracting and I do not think she writes very good.
It is part of a series. If you haven’t read any of the earlier books it may be a bit difficult to follow all of the characters.
I love all the Susan Kiernan-Lewis books featuring Maggie Newberry and her handsome Laurent Dernier boyfriend and eventual husband. The plot is complicated with two mysteries which are revealed in a rather slow process in between mouth watering dinners prepared by Laurent and seemingly gallons of wine consumed. Friendship, resolved conflicts, and life decisions are questions that are answered as Maggie solves the murders of Connor MacKenzie and a family slaughter that occurred just after the end of World War Ii. Aix-en-Provence is the beautiful setting of this French book.
looking forward to the next Maggie adventure…
I loved the setting. I felt like I was in the Latin Quarter. The only thing I felt was off, is that no mother would put her baby in danger.
The price was right; it’s mystery; it’s set in France (Paris); and the lead, amateur female detective is only somewhat annoying.
Started slow but then I couldn’t put it down
Unrealistic – no one person could be surrounded by that many would-be murderers. Also protagonist very nosy pushing her way into other’s histories when they’ve asked her not to.
Good read. Liked it a lot.
As with previous writings by this author, I have very much enjoyed reading this. Got my attention from the beginning and held it
It didn’t really hang together very well.
I really like this Maggie Newberry mystery, more serous than her prior books, we get more family history in this one.
Set in Paris
