Murder at the Apple orchard.
Georgie and Aleta decide to take a drive out to the country to pick apples. Sure enough with the sisters around it doesn’t take long for a murder to take place. The sisters investigate. The only wrench in their plans is when they discover Stan, Georgie’s ex has started dating! Georgie has a hard time dealing with this especially while trying to solve the crime! This was another great book in the series! I love the complexity of the characters. The new level of depth the characters is also exciting. I really love this book and this series! It has everything you could want in a book, mystery, adventure, humor, excitement! I highly recommend this book and this series!
Georgie and Aleta are a hoot. Thank you for getting into and our of trouble!
In this one Georgie and Aleta are off to a nearby apple orchard to get apples to bake with. During the time they are there, the soon to be son in law of the owner is found hanging from the barn. Naturally Georgie gets involved. While trying to interview the wife of the owner, they run into his presumed mistress and things get complicated. Georgie also meets the police photographer that Stan is dating. This person takes an instant dislike to Georgie and tries to make things bad between the two of them.
This is a wonderful series! The characters are well written and the books get better with each one. I highly recommend this series!
Georgie and Aleta are so mischievous and lovable! And, they never fail to make me smile and even laugh out loud. They remind me SO MUCH of how my grandmother and her sister were, whenever the two of them got together. I think this book just might be my “pick” of the series!
You can almost smell the apples and pumpkin spice!
Fall has come to the area and the Kaye sisters, Georgie and Aleta, make a trip to an apple-picking farm. As select apples and chat about Halloween costume ideas, the body of a young man is discovered hanging in the barn. He is Tony Beaumont, the fiancé of Veronica Slute, the daughter of the owner of the farm, Xabat Slute.
Although it appears a suicide, Georgie’s ex-husband, Detective Stan Toon of the Chicago Police Department is requested by the small local department to help in the proper investigation of the death. But Georgie notices some suspicious marks on the body and is convinced Tony was murdered. That and Maggie Hoffentop, a new crime scene photographer that is being a little too possessive of Stan’s attention keep the sisters on the hand to keep an eye on things.
“Murder in the Apple Orchard” is another cute and cozy mystery in the “Pet Portraits Mystery” series by Sandi Scott. As with all the books in the series, the dialogue is snappy and the characters sassy and fun. The mysteries will not strain your brain, just entertain. I recommend this book and this series to the cozy mystery lover and those that appreciate an amateur sleuth of a more mature age and outlook.
Georgie and Aleta are going apple picking at an orchard. I love the apple orchard as a setting for a mystery; I feel that the orchard added to the mystery with the corn maze and rows of trees. I also really enjoyed the setting of the Bed and Breakfast, I would love to stay at an inn like this one. Georgie and Aleta are still spunky characters, although, Stan was a little subdued this book. Stan finally seems to be moving on with his life and giving Georgie her space. I feel because of this he is not as jovial around Georgie. I thought it was funny that Georgie was a little jealous of Stan’s new friend since she has been so adamant that he should move on.
I was given an ARC of this book in hopes I would give a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.
Murder at the Apple Orchard
Another mystery for the twins to solve!
It’s getting close to Halloween and twins Georgie and Aleta are arguing about if they should or shouldn’t wear costumes to give out trick or treat candy. Then they decide to go pick apples at an apple orchard. They pick three bushels and then hear some screams coming from a barn. They, of course, must investigate what is causing the screams. They find another murder to solve. It isn’t long before the police arrive – including Georgie’s ex Stan with a pretty crime scene photographer in tow. There are lots of twists and turns and laughs too in this story. Including a Medieval B&B the twins choose to stay in to stay close to the action. And keep an eye on that lady cop taking pictures. Love this pet portrait series and these twin super sluthes. You will enjoy this clean cozy for sure!
Georgie and Aleta are at it again!
The twins have a habit of stumbling upon bodies, and this time is no different. Was it really suicide? All they were trying to do was pick some apples! And what is Stan thinking?? This latest addition to the series does not disappoint! The twins stay at a B&B that sounds like so much fun! But will they ever get their apples?
I received an ARC. This is my honest review.
Georgie and Aleta drive out to Apple Harvest Orchard to enjoy the day of apple picking and enjoying some tasty treats. What was supposed to be a day of fun turns into yet another mystery when the body is found hanging from a rafter. Unfortunately, it isn’t a prop as part of the Halloween decorations, so the sisters find themselves involved in yet another murder mystery. Georgie can’t wait to solve the mystery, but soon comes face to face with her ex-husband and his new girlfriend the crime scene photographer. Can we say “awkward”?!
As with previous books in this series, you get many laugh out loud moments including the girls staying at a medieval B&B. The dynamics between the sisters and even between Georgie and her ex-husband Stan is fantastic. Even though she says she is fine with Stan’s new girlfriend and she tries to be the bigger person, you still feel her touch of jealousy and tad of spitefulness. This all makes for a great cozy mystery filled with madcap adventure, humor, and lots of potential suspects.
I agree ! Tired of all the pumpkin stuff!!!!!
Great addition to the series. Book can be read all by itself too.
Love the sisters. How different they are but still alike for twins. They get along so well that I am jealous.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
Georgie and Aleta are ‘discussing’ what they are going to dress up as on Halloween while on the way to the Apple Orchard. Aleta doesn’t want to dress up at all….says they are too old for such nonsense. They get to the orchard, and decide what apples they are going to pick when they hear a scream! There is a real body hanging from the rafters in the barn!!!! At first it looks like it might be a suicide, but Georgie’s keen eyes sees things on the body before the police gets there that tells her differently. Then Stan shows up and he isn’t alone. He has a new photographer and she isn’t just that…..they are dating! This throws Georgie off her game a bit. She isn’t sure what she thinks of this, only knows she really doesn’t care for it. Can Georgie get her head on straight and convince Stan that this was murder? You will have to read the book to find the answers. As always, these two ladies are a hoot to read and sometimes surprise themselves! I voluntarily reviewed a free ARC of this book.
Murder in the Apple Orchard by Sandi Scott is the latest the Pet Portraits Cozy Mystery series featuring Georgie and her sister, Aleta, two senior citizen sleuths. Georgie and Aleta live nest door to one another-closeness being a good thing, too close, not so much. It is fall, Halloween not far away. Of course Georgie wants to dress up, Aleta doesn’t. They have taken this day to visit a (relatively) local apple orchard and pumpkins farm when right in the middle of the day a dead body is discovered. It appeared he had hung himself, until the situation became clearer. One of the distractions is that Stan, Georgie’s ex-husband and police detective, has a girl friend. Now, Georgie is happily divorced and had good reasons, but she is used to having Stan coming around and is not sure she wants to share him.
Georgie, Aleta, and Stan are totally engaging characters, not to be missed. Scott weaves a good mystery with the right amount of twists and turns while interjecting plenty of the main characters’ personalities into the mix. Murder in the Apple Orchard is and entertaining cozy which I recommend highly. There is plenty in this book to engender chuckles, as well as curiosity.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I loved this book so much. Georgie and Aleta are at it again. They go to an apple orchard to pick some apples and while there they see a man who hung him self but Georgie knows from what she sees that it was murder and not suicide. When Stan shows up he has a new photographer with him and introduces her to Georgie and Aleta as his new girlfriend. The girlfriend is nice when Stan is there but she gets Georgie to herself to let her know that she wants Stan and Georgie had better stay out of her way. Aleta wants to tell Stan how mean his girlfriend is being to the mother of his children but Georgie won’t let her. They work on the crime and solve the murder as usual and Georgie even has to run from the killers when they try to stop her from telling anyone. Georgie faces her fears about spiders and runs through the cornfield to get away from the killers. She tells Stan about the killers and how she overheard them talking about the murder and why they were doing it. Georgie and Aleta go to the police station later to talk to Stan about the case and find that he is still interested in his girlfriend. Hopefully we’ll learn a lot more about her in the next book. I have loved this series from the beginning and I can definitely recommend that you read this book or any others in this series. It’ll only take one to get you hooked on the humor between the sisters and their tenacity to solve crimes.
Georgie and Aleta are on a trip to their favorite apple orchard. But as luck would have it, a dead body is found on the premises. Georgie is determined to figure out who the killer is, even at the risk of personal peril. A little spice is added to this tale by her ex-husband, Stan, and his crime scene photographer. The crime scene photographer seems to have focused more on Stan than the crime scene. Even though Georgie wants to think she has no feelings for Stan, she doesn’t like the new girl hanging on Stan.
I received an ARC from Sandi Scott for an honest review.
Georgie and her twin Aleta are at an apple orchard. While there a body is found of the fiance of the owners daughter.
Stan, Georgie’s ex husband, is investigating the circumstances of the dead body. He shows up with a crime scene photographer, Maggie. There is always a bit of humor between the twin sisters Was this a suicide or murder? Georgie will find a way to do her own sleuthing.
Another enjoyable outing with Georgie and Aleta, the sixty-something twins, this time they come across an apparent suicide when they visit and orchard to pick apples for their baking. Needless to say they get involved in the investigation, especially when Georgie’s ex husband Stan turns up with his crime scene photographer, who seems to think that things should develop between herself and Stan, and is very negative towards Georgie (Sorry, dreadful pun I know, but I couldn’t resist).
Throw in a local B&B which is themed on a medieval castle, Georgie’s phobia about spiders and there is a recipe for much mayhem. Do the twins manage to solve the mystery? Does Stan come to his senses about the photographer? You’ll just have to read the book to find out.
As always in this series, this is a thoroughly enjoyable read and although it is part of a series it works really well as a standalone.
I received an advance copy of the book, but have voluntarily written this review.
Only Georgie and Aleta could go to an orchard to pick apples and end up finding a dead body. When Stan shows up with his new crime scene photographer/new girlfriend, Georgie doesn’t know how to feel or act. As usual Sandi Scott keeps me guessing and laughing.
“Murder in the Apple Orchard” is another fun, quirky, cozy mystery from Sandi Scott. The story stars Georgie and Aleta, the 60 something twin sisters who keep stumbling across bodies in this series. The sisters’ bickering would make an interesting story so the murder mystery is just an added plus. There is always a plethora of suspects to keep us entertained. So grab your favorite beverage and curl up with this latest offering.
This was a really fun visit with Aleta & Georgie! It’s pre-Halloween and they go to an orchard to pick apples. They wind up with a body hanging in the barn that looks like suicide until they poke around some more and find signs of murder. Then Stan enters with a new crime scene photographer that he’s seeing. Maggie, the photographer, doesn’t care for Georgie and makes sure that Georgie knows it. After poking around the orchard for several days Georgie solves the mystery and goes on to have a wonderful Halloween with her sister.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
