Here we go again!
Between the murder when the twins visit the apple orchard occurs they are faced with another mystery. Add in Georgie’s ex-husband’s new girlfriend, and let’s say there’s more than enough drama in her life. As always great characters, story, and writing.
Can’t wait for the next book!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I am in love with this series. Sandi Scott has me laughing out loud with the shenanigans the twins get into and the tricks they play on each other. Georgie and Aleta plan to pick apples and of course find a body. I love that Sandi Scott mixed it up with Stan, Georgie’s ex-husband. Sandi adds a new character in the crime scene photographer. I can’t wait to see how this is all going to play out in the next few books. I was gifted this book with the understanding that I would leave an honest review.
This is arguably my favorite cozy mystery series! Twin sisters Georgie and Aleta set out once again on an innocent enough trip, this time to a pick-your-own apple orchard. As usual, a murder ensues and Georgie sets out to find the killer, with Aleta following closely on her footsteps. A cast of questionable characters all have a motive for the murder, and the trail leads from one suspect to another. I thought I had it figured out from the get-go, but I was pleasantly wrong. A new twist in Georgie’s relationship with ex-husband Stan adds to the entertainment. Fun as always!
I don’t care how long my TBR list is. As soon as Sandi Scott comes out with another “Pet Portraits” book, it has to be read next. The twins always make me laugh out loud especially when one makes the other the victim of a made-up illness as payback for a previous smackdown. This time Georgie gets to feel a little of the jealousness Stan usually feels when he shows up with a nasty little thing on his arm. Investigating the “Murder in the Apple Orchard” becomes a little bit more of a problem when her mind is split between the murder and Stan. As always, enjoyment for the reader abounds. I certainly hope this series never ends. I’ve become invested with these “girls” and wish I was along for the real ride.
Murder at the apple orchard book review:
Get ready for lots of apples, some shenanigans, pumpkin pie, a corn maze and murderous adventure!
Aleta and Georgie are off to the apple orchard! Only they did not expect to find a murdered body that resembled a suicide by hanging…
Our intrepid duo is close on the heels of figuring out what’s going on at the apple orchard! It does involve some spicy pumpkin treats, picking apples and getting lost in a corn maze!
I love these twins! They have the best relationship and dynamics. Quite a few times I was laughing out loud over the tricks Georgie would play on Aleta!
And we can’t forget Stan, Georgie‘s ex-husband. He enters the scene of the crime attached to Maggie the photographer. Georgie has some things to figure out about Stan. I don’t like to give away spoilers. Rest assured this is a good cozy mystery with interesting characters and relationships as well as a murder to figure out!
Enjoy!! And don’t forget the pumpkin pie!
I received an advance readers copy. My opinion is totally my own in this review.
The sixty-something super twins are back in action.
Georgie and Aleta plan to pick apples, enjoy a corn maze and yummy treats, and of course adventure and murderous mayhem pop up. More than one unhappy surprise appears too.
Not only do they meet the apparent new amor of the orchard owner – and she really seems a bit off her rocker. When ex-husband Stan shows up at the homicide with a photographer in tow, it turns out they have been dating. Awkward.
Not only is the new photog dating Stan, but she seems intent on starting an issue between herself Georgies, cat fight wise. What a wacko. Stan seems a bit put off, but if Georgie refuses to date him, what’s a guy to do?
Georgie and Aleta have super sister powers, and awesome deductive reasoning to help them solve the mystery – and survive the scrapes they always seem to get into along the way.
Healing their hearts might be a bit harder – and longer in the doing.
I enjoyed reading and advance copy of the story, as well as reading it on KU – and my honest opinion is that I still find the Kaye sisters funny and delightful!
Such a wonderful book. The twins Georgie and Aleta are such awesome characters.
The twins are back with a new mystery to solve. This time they spend several days at a fall festival in an apple orchard, where Stan and his new flame are investigating a murder. These characters are lively and the book is well written. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
Another wonderful book in the Pet Portraits Series. Love the antics and adventures of Georgie and Aleta. I enjoyed the time I spent reading it.
Another fantastic book in the Georgie and Aleta saga. Love the way the sisters look at life and each other. Would love to visit Betty’s Bed and Breakfast, it is totally unique. The story makes me want to go to the nearest apple orchard and start picking and baking.
Georgie and Aleta Kaye are heading to Apple Harvest Orchard for Halloween. They are also looking forward to picking apples for baking. Georgie loves dressing up for Halloween, but Aleta not so much. After filling three baskets with apples, Georgie and Aleta decide to pay for their baskets, then do some exploring of the area.
As they approach the general store, they hear a commotion coming from the area of a barn. Looking closer, they realize there is a body hanging from the top of the barn. The body is that of Tony Beaumont. Tony was engaged to marry Victoria Stule, the daughter of the orchard owners. Georgie is surprised when her ex-husband, Stan, shows up with a new police photographer who is practically hanging all over him. While talking to some of the workers at the orchard, Georgie is getting two totally different pictures of Tony. Some say he has a very bad temper and others say he is very likable.
What is the truth about Tony? Why was he killed? Or was it suicide? Can Georgie figure out the truth?
Sandi Scott has a wonderful way of painting scenes to make you feel like you are right their seeing everything first hand with the characters. I especially like the covers of the Pet Portraits series, which feature renditions of actual reader’s pets.
The twins are at it again, or should I say Georgie is.. Never a dull moment when Georgie is out and about. In this book, they are off to the Orchards to picks some apples and while there, of course, there is a murder and Georgie has to find the culprit. Now I was having a really hard time figuring this one out. It really kept me on my toes while keeping me entertained. Sandi has done it again with this awesome book.
Georgie and Aleta are enjoying a fall break. There is never a dull moment with these twins. I love the series for great characters and enjoyable plots. Georgie reminds me of Auntie Mame and Aleta is her exasperated straight man. I want to be Georgie but I am probably more like Aleta. When I read about their antics I get to choose Georgie. Read about fun in the apple orchard and relax a little today.
Murder in the Apple Orchard is the latest addition to the Pet Portrait book series. Twin sisters, Georgie and Aleta are off to the orchard to do some apple picking when someone turns up murdered. Georgie’s ex-husband, Stan is part of the investigation team, along with his new girlfriend. Georgie inserts herself into the investigation and is struggling with her feelings about Stan. Fast paced and well written, another great addition to the Pet Portrait series.
Halloween Cozy Mystery
This is a fun episode of the Pets Portraits series. The backdrop is an apple orchard at Halloween. There is pumpkin everything, apple everything, a corn maze, and a murder. This episode has a great plot, lots of interesting characters and a plot that won’t quit. This episode could stand alone, but it’s better when you get the entire back story. I received this ARC book for free and this is my honest review.
