Some say that Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is the most beautiful village in all of France. That’s especially true at Christmastime when the scent of baked gingerbread mingles with the fragrance of evergreen boughs and wafts deliciously through the village’s quaint cobblestone lanes. It’s hard to believe anything sinister could be waiting in any of its many charming streets and alleyways. But when … when American ex-pat Maggie Newberry finds a pregnant, homeless teenager there she’s thrust into a whirling maelstrom of enmity and treachery that quickly reveals in devastating clarity that not all families are created equal.
In fact, some are so badly damaged nothing can fix them.
Except possibly murder.

Loved it, as of all of her books.
I keep coming back to this series to feel like I am living in France. The bonus is the good stories surrounding the sense of being there in France, smelling the air and tasting the food. The character base keeps expanding and developing which is a real plus. The plucky heroine remains traditionally American even after all her years in France.
Good for a light suspense and romance read. I recommend the series.
As above.
Just an average read… Don’t recommend it.
I really enjoy the Maggie Newberry series.
I love the saint-remy characters and stories.
Great, bought some of the others. I’m having trouble finding them on book bub so I can read in order
Love this series, the setting and characters are realistic.
It kept you guessing right to the very end. I enjoy the books by this author.
Truly, I love Maggie Newberry books! They are warm, real, unexpected, great story lines; Entertaining. I have missed a few in-between years, and books, but this was just as powerful to pick up the lives and loves of these people I so enjoy spending time with. Lots going on in this book—but I wasn’t disappointed a bit as it unraveled. Excellent!
Love this series!
This series about Maggie, friends and family is full of well-developed characters in a French country setting with murder involved. The South of France setting is also a character in the books and a delightful “get away.”
Love this series!
Ms Kiernan manages to create an interesting cast of characters starting with Maggie Newberry and her husband a great chef and former con artist Laurent Dernier. There are twists and turns in all of the plots. The stories from book to book occur over the course of 15 years and the relationships between the characters grow throughout.
A great Cozy Mystery that takes place in the French wine Country.
I am not a francophile. But I really like Laurent, the main male character! The stories were woven together with great style and finesse. As the stories were knitted and twined into each other, the fascination with the possible outcomes was intriguing for me to figure out! It didn’t end as I thought it would, but it ended well! I especially enjoyed the wit in the comments the characters make to each other, to themselves, and to the reader! Great technique!
Another wonderful book in the series. These always keep my interest, even if I am frustrated with one of the characters.
This was an interesting book that, although it was populated almost entirely by expatriates, transported the reader to France. It took a while to get to the mystery, but the ramp up was still interesting. Once we had a mystery, the book was impossible to put down. I read it in one sitting.
