Summer on the Côte d’Azur means tan bodies, wide beaches and glamorous nightclubs throbbing with the vitality of the rich and beautiful. So when Maggie Newberry arranges to meet an old boyfriend at the International Advertising Festival in Cannes, it’s no surprise she begins to feel the seduction of her old life. But amidst the glamor, beautiful clothes and brilliant creative work on display, … display, there is also the side of the business Maggie had forgotten was always there too. The petty rivalries, the dirty deals, the betrayals, are all still front and center. When the back-stabbing turns literal and the wife of Maggie’s childhood friend is accused of the murder, Maggie knows she has to help.
Along the way she needs to fight the police, Laurent, and even her own natural instincts about who she is now and the life she left behind.
She learns the hard way that the treachery rife in her old industry has since ramped up to a whole new level—one that her quiet life as a vigneron’s wife has not at all prepared her for…and one that could very well get her killed.

This was an easy read and a little different from everyday mysteries. I didn’t guess “who did it until the very end. I would read more of her books.
Actually the words I picked are why it was not marked as excellent; it was really violent. I have read these books on these charaters and liked them; maybe just not in the mood for this much sorrow.
love this author love the local
I love the Maggie and Laurent characters. The suspense, twist and turns their lives take is always entertaining. I love how their love for each helps them get through anything
I love this series. The characters are wonderful. It kept me questing.
This was the 2nd book that I’ve read with this author and character. It was hard to put down, yet towards the end of the book, it was “can’t this girl learn what not to do in 1 day” as she had a major scare, then that night, she almost repeats the same thing. At that point, it was read to just finish the book.
Not as good as the others in the series. I kept asking myself why she just didn’t go home. I really didn’t care.
Maggie gets into more difficulty than a wife and mother should!
I enjoyed “seeing” the French culture throughout the book.
Great mystery thriller!
I like this series. However, I am not sure this woman could have stood all the physical violence .
I really enjoyed this book! Great characters set in Cannes enlightened me on customs and landscapes in that area. The mystery itself was one that kept me reading constantly. I very much recommend this book!
A great mystery from my favorite author.
Like to read easy no brainer books for relaxation. Enjoyed the book and characters
Very good.

I love Susan Kiernan-Lewis!

I didn’t see it coming…I usually figure mysteries very quickly but here I didn’t. I liked it a lot!
