“If Janet Evanovich and Maeve Binchy wrote a book together, [this] would be the result . . . Siobhán O’Sullivan is a character to savor.”—Laurien Berenson, author of Game of Dog Bones In the small village of Kilbane, County Cork, Ireland, Naomi’s Bistro has always been a warm and welcoming spot to visit with neighbors, enjoy some brown bread and tea, and get the local gossip. Nowadays … and get the local gossip. Nowadays twenty-two-year-old Siobhán O’Sullivan runs the family bistro named for her mother, along with her five siblings, after the death of their parents in a car crash almost a year ago.
It’s been a rough year for the O’Sullivans, but it’s about to get rougher. One morning, as they’re opening the bistro, they discover a man seated at a table, dressed in a suit as if for his own funeral, a pair of hot pink barber scissors protruding from his chest.
With the local garda suspecting the O’Sullivans and their business in danger of being shunned—murder tends to spoil the appetite—it’s up to feisty redheaded Siobhán to solve the crime and save her beloved brood.

A light read, somewhat predictable, but likable characters in a small Irish town setting.
Meanders around.
Loved it. Was like being transported across the pond
I loved it. Fun to read. I’m partial to Irish people. Have Irish in my DNA…….
Somewhat tediuous
Good Irish story
Fun read
Very disappointing. Boring. Could not get through even half
I
With Irish ancestors I enjoy books set in Ireland.
The book offers a charming look at life in a small Irish village. It definitely makes me want to visit there!
This was such a good book. I just loved Siobhán. I love her siblings too. I cannot wait to read more.
The mystery part of the book was well-done as I didn’t figure out the murderer until near the end. But the book went on and on and on with tales of the family relationships and village relationships. Plot could have been accomplished in half the time with less boredom.
I wished I had a pronunciation key for the Irish names.
It seemed the author was trying far too hard to capture the culture and local language- very forced and stilted characters-
Hard to keep track of the many people in the book.
I enjoyed the local color look at life in an Irish village as well as seeing the difficulties surmounted by the O’Sullivan six.
An entertaining mystery with heart! I’m a fan of Siobhan, the plucky heroine who is raising her brothers & sisters, the O’Sullivan Six. I wish I could pop in to visit her village & meet all the players from this story. I’ll definitely be picking up the rest of this series.
Definitely not an ordinary mystery!
Well this was some crazy chaotic cozy fun I haven’t read anything by this author before and I’m glad I grabbed this one. I have always wanted to travel to Ireland so what a perfect way to spend the day lost in the quaint little village of Kilbane where murder is on the menu and solving the mystery is the daily special.
Fun mystery series with great characters and settings
