It’s easy to give your life for someone. It’s much harder to kill for them. ~Nicky FuscoFor a select few people, friendship lasts forever. Nicky Fusco and Frankie Donovan were friends like that, but that was years ago. Now Frankie’s a detective in Brooklyn’s Homicide department, and Nicky is a reformed hit man. But when Frankie gets in trouble—and the law can’t help him—he turns to Nicky. The … Nicky.
The problem is that Nicky promised his family, and God, that he’d go straight.

A good murder mystery…grabs you by your nose …drags you into the story till the last page…
Enjoyed it from start to finish. Good characters, good story. One of the best books I’ve read recently
Slow start and plenty of characters to keep up with, but totally enjoyable with cops, murders and gumbas.
Not often do I find myself rooting for a cold-blooded killer; but, this story had me doing just that.
Predictable and stereotypical characters
This one will keep you guessing.
Dragged a little at the end.
There was nothing compelling about this book whatsoever.
Terrible book to read!! I quit after just a few pages.
Not a fav, but I did manage to finish it.
The writing style was so poor, I kept hoping it would improve.
Alas, it did not… therefore I stopped reading at the end of the 4th chapter.
Too hard to follow. Mode too slow.
Very good story line! Riveting
this book has very graphic language and descriptions of torture and murder.
I did not thoroughly enjoy or get into the book, I laid it aside with about 30 or so pages left to read. It is my intention to wait a couple of months and then begin to read it as if I had never read it.
Wasn’t what I expected but a decent read
Strange plot, unusual characters, very good read.
Too raw, too much killing, etc.
Too dark for me..had too quit reading
Very intriguing
