Murder Creek by Jane Suen a five-star read that is worth solving. This is my favourite of this author, there was just something special about it, it really takes you into the story, it gives you the brain itch, you need to figure it out alongside Eve. Eve was a surprise, she was almost like a dog with a bone at times, but it meant that her passion flew from the page. I must say don’t start this one when you don’t have time as you wont want to put it down, Jane Suen has a great way of pulling you in and making you care, Eve feels so well done.

Yet again another wonderful read by this author! She never fails to entertain me with her writing and I love that I never really know what I’m going to get when I read one of her books, usually they are very thought-provoking and whilst I didn’t really get that with Murder Creek I still got an extremely well written and entertaining unpredictable read. I think the main character took a little time to get used to but once I did I thought she was great. She was definitely determined to find out what had happened to Lacey! I loved how Ms Suen kept me guessing all the way through the story and I almost felt like I was right there with Eve collecting clues and trying to find out what had happened. As a reader I felt very engaged with the storyline.
I 100% recommend this exciting read and I look forward to more from this author again in the future.
Suen continues to be a must read author for me. Murder Creek is no exception. From beginning to end, Suen captivates me with the storyline and characters, keeping me reading and guessing and frantically trying to keep up. If you’ve got a whodunit mystery suspense on your radar, this book needs to be your next adventure.
I am a huge fan of the way Jane Suen writes. Each word is necessary. Each paragraph serves a purpose. Each chapter adds another piece to the puzzle.
MURDER CREEK is a quick mystery. There is no sex, there are no swears. It is a story I wish I could read again for the first time.
I absolutely recommend this book and this author!!
Murder Creek by Jane Suen. Let me just say I LOVED this book! I started reading it and I read it til the very end. Its the story of a young journalist, Eve Sawyer who decides to investigate a closed case in Murder Creek. Its the case of a missing girl named Lacey Walken. The only clue is a bloody scarf found along the rivers edge years ago. Lacey’s friends aren’t willing to talk to Eve about any of this and she knows they are with holding information. As Eve digs further and further into the case she starts getting threats which excites Eve but also scares her. It must mean she’s getting closer to solving this cold case! Will Eve solve the murder before she becomes the next victim? Read Murder Creek to find out!
Murder Creek by Jane Suen was a quick murder mystery that’s both pulling and entertaining.
Not my first read by this author so I knew going in that the writing would be smooth, plot on point and the story compelling. I was not let down and I was pulled in right away by this thrilling mystery. This is a standalone so no worries about past story lines, or continuation plots that will confuse you.
Right away we meet or MC, she’s a bit of a free spirited and knows what she wants in life, I did find her a little immature, but it wasn’t a draw back, just showed her age. It was a nice balance and added a nice layer to the MC. I loved the mystery and her need to find out what happened to the missing girl. It was nice following the clues and piecing it together, and trying to find out what happened. It was fully engaging and I had a pretty good time reading it.
Overall if you’re looking for a pulling, thrilling mystery with twist , turns, and suspense, then please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval that you will fall hard for this wondrous mystery.
Happy Reading

I have yet to find a Jane Suen novel that I have not absolutely loved. Murder Creek is no deviation from the rule. Jane Suen writes with such vibrancy and emotion that I always feel as if I have been on an emotional and physical journey when I have finished one of her novels. In Murder Creek I was right with Eve, our MC, as she weeded her way through the mystery and intrigue that is this book. Her personality is written so that I felt as if I was reading about a real actual woman that had indeed been through all of this. I even felt this girls terror with those grisly nightmares that she suffers through. About half way through I found myself disregarding the 1 am time and pushing onward to figure out what was going to come of this. I am so glad that I did and it was worth every moment of sleep deprivation. I won’t be giving you any more details than that though. You will have to take my word for it that this a book you can’t miss out on and one-click right now. I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed. I am now going to wait with baited breath for the next little gem that Suen produces.
Murder Creek by Jane Suen is a book that is full of suspense and intrigue and will keep you reading right to the last page.
I have read quite a few books by this author recently but none had grabbed my attention in quite the way this book did. No this book didn’t have quite the same effect at the end, and no I didn’t find it to be full of as many twists but there as something about this story that completely drew me in. I just knew that I had to read more.
I love how, when you pick up a book by this author, you never quite know what you are going to get. Each story is totally different and not at all typical. And that is exactly what you get from this book. I picked it up expecting one thing only to be delivered an entirely different story. If you haven’t already discovered this book, or this author, then I would recommend you doing so immediately.
If you are a mystery lover, that you have to read Murder Creek by Jane Suen. Jane Suen is an author that I have been following with all your books. I love a good mystery book. One reason I really like Jane Suen is that she takes me on an adventure every time I open her book. She has a way with words. She is a great storyteller. In this story, Eve has found an “cold” case of a murder. She is investigating it for her journalism class she is taking. There are questions being asked that people are uncomfortable. This murder happened a long time ago and the killer wants it to remain unsolved. Will Eve be able to solve this cold case? Will Eve get herself in trouble that she cannot get out of? You will have to read this story to find out the answers to this story and more.

This book did not go the way I thought, but in a good way. It hooked me from the beginning but it did a lose me in a couple spots, I had to go back and make sure I had read something right (all on me, not the writing). Told in one POV of the main character, we follow her on a journey of finding answers in a town she was just passing through.
I did feel I never got the full answer of what her different ability was, yes we experience her getting visuals but never a clear cut, this is what happens.
I didn’t see the ending coming out the way it did, I had a thought on someone else for that actually! Great read .
Wow i loved this book.
Student Eve Sawyer wants to cover the case of a missing girl in Murder Creek as her final assignment. With only basic information she embarks on the journey to find out the truth about what happened to Lacey Walken.
It is full of twists and turns, no one is who they seem to be and the final outcome is one I did not expect. I was gripped from the first page
I loved this book, my favorite. This is a well written, creative, sitting on the edge of your seat story. The characters, Eve is my favorite, bring the story to life. This story is a journey of suspense, mystery that takes place in a town named for past murders. Eve finds herself being pulled toward a cold case of a missing girl. The more she puts the pieces together the more danger it creates for her. This is a must read, I highly recommend finding out if Eve survives her investigation.

I am a professed 100% complete lifelong fan of this author, I don’t care what it is, if her name is on it I read it. She is one of those authors that you never know what your going to get when you open one of her books and she always finds a way to mess with my mind and leaves me staring into space when I finish one of her stories.
In saying all of that..I loved Murder Creek. Is it a favorite of all I’ve read from her?.. No. That is because it didn’t leave me questioning everything at the end and didn’t have a mind bending twist like most of her stories do. Does it mean I enjoyed it any less?.. No. This was still vintage Jane Suen and everything I love about her. She is a master storyteller and I felt like I was in the book, walking right alongside Eve, I could see her hotel room, I could feel the atmosphere while at the creek, I was hesitant about everyone she met in her journey to find out what happened to Lacey Walken. I love how dedicated Eve was and her nightmares scared me. I felt it all and that’s just one of the reasons I love this author so much!
Not going to give away any part of this storyline, you have to read it and experience the building of this investigation and see how it ends. This part was not something I expected and it was enough of a twist to make every word leading up to it totally worth it.
Read this and everything else you can get your hands on by this author..She is amazing!
Bring on the next 🙂
This is a short mystery that kept my interest from the beginning. There is a large cast of characters that come into play as Eve sorts through the evidence for a missing girl. I didn’t see the ending which is a plus. I love not being able to figure out the “who-dunnit”.
This is not a first time author for me. The story moves along at a quick pace. It has lovely short chapters which helps move things along for some reason. The characters are interesting and i was suspicious of them all! For a quick mystery…pickup this up.
Murder Creek was a great mystery that keeps you hooked from page one. When Eve Sawyer sees a sign that says Murder Creek she can’t wait to see why and how it got the name. During her internet search she discovers that there were two incidents there and one of them was 20 years prior. She decides that she wants to do her midterm paper for her journalism class on the case of a missing woman named Lacey Walken. Lacey is missing and presumed deceased, but there are a lot of things that don’t make much sense. Eve is determined to discover the truth about what happened to Lacey and she won’t stop until she does. Talking to anyone she can who knew Lacey is no easy task as they are all tight lipped when it comes to what may or may not have happened to Lacey at Murder Creek. Even when she gets a call threatening her to stop sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong she still forges ahead. Sometimes secrets stay hidden forever and nobody is able to get closure. All it takes is one person to be tenacious enough to go after the truth. Twenty years is a long time to wait for the truth to be revealed, but we all can’t be so lucky.
Murder Creek is an entertaining murder mystery. I loved the character of Eve Sawyer she just love’s a mystery and just cant stop herself from investigating, but there is someone who does not want her to dig into it and tries to stop her, can she find out what happened to the missing girl or will she become a target and end up being the story in the paper for once and not the writer.
I give Murder Creek (Eve Sawyer Mystery Book 1) by Jane Suen, 4 stars.
This is a really good mystery. The story has lots of twists and turns, leaving you guessing until the end. This is what a good mystery book should do. But there is not just the puzzle of trying to figure out who did it, there are plenty of emotions attached, both with the tragedy of what happened years ago and now. Then there is Eve. I think she makes a wonderful main character and I like how this mystery seems to call to her. She is only human, but she trusts her instincts and seeming sixth sense she has.
As a mystery, this book really excels. It also gives us a new character to hopefully enjoy in many books to come.
Murder Creek is the first book in the Eve Sawyer Muster series by Jane Suen. I love all of her books, as they are short but sweet. Every page counts with this book. So much is happening and it feels like a fully story despite its 159 page length. Eve is a journalism student with somewhat of a 6th sense. She passes over Murder Creek one weekend, and feels very drawn to it. Upon brief research, she discovers there was a massacre there centuries ago, as well as a possible killing/missing person case. She decides to investigate further, traveling to the small town. She quickly noses her way into the small town and its residents. I loved where the story ended up, wrapped up perfectly with a little bow. I don’t want to give anything away, but do yourself a favor and read this book. It will only take a day or two. Now, onto book 2 in the series!
Murder Creek opens with a sketch of Eve Sawyer that introduces us to our protagonist. She is an empath with an acute ability to understand the actions and motivations of others. Being attuned to the people around her enables her to notice details that others might gloss over. She seems to have an innate sense of appreciating others, and that, coupled with her calm and carefree attitude towards life will be one of the key factors that will help her on her journey to solve the disappearance of Lacey Walken.
This book has a similar narrative arc as Murder at Lolly Beach, and I enjoyed it just as much. Eve is a likeable character, one who you find yourself rooting for without even meaning to. She is honest, focused, and tenacious in not giving up even when others wish she would. As the clues to Lacey’s disappearance become revealed, I couldn’t help but try to suss out who was responsible right along with her.
I normally have a preference for longer books, but I found this one to be just the right length for the story. It was a fun way to while away an afternoon at home, cozy in my pajamas, with a fire going for ambience. I definitely recommend this as a lovely way to spend a few hours.
Dig in and enjoy!
