Quick read. Nothing of great substance in the storyline though. This can be read just to pass some time or just before going to bed .
Lobster, dessert, and a murder!
Ruby Holmes and her friend Bee stop in Carmel, Maine for a few weeks as they journey around the country in their Bite-sized Bakery food truck. Their fresh-baked desserts are a hit with the locals and tourists and everything is going great until Ruby’s dinner date turns into a murder investigation and she is considered the prime suspect by the chief investigator. Ruby and Bee will have to solve this murder themselves if they are going to get their confiscated food truck back and prove Ruby’s innocence.
This is a fun cozy mystery. I finished the book in one day. The characters are likable and the story had some good plot twists. It kept me guessing until the end.
Book review: Murder by Chocolate
I received a free copy of this book. The review that I am posting is my own.
I have read the Burger Bar mystery series by the author, Rosie A. Point. I enjoyed those very much!
This is another cozy mystery, the start of a new series! We have Ruby who’s dream is to have a food truck and she hires Bee who is an excellent baker. Her food truck sells baked goods. The book is set in Carmel, Maine one of the stops on their agenda as they travel selling baked goods. Unfortunately they end up staying in Carmel, Maine due to a murder!
Ruby is asked out by Owen and goes to meet him at the restaurant which isn’t even open the evening of their date. She finds him murdered!
The storyline revolves around discovering who murdered Owen! Along the way we meet a few people in town including a not so nice Detective who seems to put more roadblocks in their path than anything!
A short read about 2 hours. I love the premise of a traveling food truck. This way the future mysteries can be in different places which would be fun to visit!
Can’t wait to read what’s next in the series!!
Murder by Chocolate is a quirky and fun read. Ruby and Bee run a food truck of sweet delights. The plan is to travel to different towns serving their delicious delicacies from their food truck. Their first stop is in a small sea side town of Carmel Springs, Maine. It seemed like a great place to start the journey, until Owen, a local man, who had asked Ruby for a date, turned up dead. Ruby finds herself in the position of the number one suspect. Ruby had to find out the truth and with Bee tagging along things got a little crazy. The food truck was impounded. Gossip was all around and Ruby knew the only way to clear her name was to find the real killer. Little did she know though that while trying to clear her name she would be threatened.
Ruby is a former journalist. Her curiosity takes her and Bee on a journey with some twists and threats. Bee is not one to check her words. She says what she thinks and almost causes them more trouble. It’s an interesting play between the two main characters. Bee wants to leave and Ruby doesn’t feel like her business is finished in Carmel Springs. The locals are all a bit colorful and make this story a quirky read, but oh so fun. It was really enjoyable and I look forward to seeing more antics of Ruby and Bee.

Ruby Holmes is on a mission to follow her dreams. She has bought a food truck and plans on traveling to see the sights, selling yummy baked treats, and never staying in one place for long. When her trusty new side-kick on hand, Ruby arrives in Carmel Springs and is soon invited on a date with a handsome fisherman. When she meets him at the appointed place, she finds an empty restaurant and one very dead body. So much for getting back into the dating pool.
The local detective doesn’t appear to like outsiders in his town and soon puts Ruby on his number one list of prime suspects. To make sure she stays in town, he goes all out to impound her food truck and make sure it is returned a mess when he has to release it for lack of evidence. Ruby isn’t going to take things lying down and decides she is going to find the real murderer before her dreams as completely shattered.
If you love cozy mysteries with a well-written storyline, main characters that are loveable and the perfect heroine, quirky characters, curmudgeons of a detective, and lots of wit and humor, then this book is just what you are looking for.

A great start to another series from Rosie! I loved the Burger Bar Mysteries Series and so far I’m sure I’ll love this series too. Fantastic characters and a story line that will hold your attention and keep you turning the pages. A murder on the first date and Ruby becoming a person of interest makes for a great story! Will she and her friend Bee be able to clear her name?

Ruby and Bee are a great team on their traveling food truck. Lucky for Ruby, they are also good at solving problems and mysteries.
When a would be date turns into a murder scene, these friends are on the case- the only way to save their truck and get them back on the road.
Romantic twists and betrayals, mistrust of outsiders, friends who are loyal- it all adds up to a fun and exciting KU read!

No calorie fun!
This is a promising start to a delicious new series set in one of my favorite places. Ruby and her employee/friend Bee have recently begun their food truck adventure selling sweet treats in oceanside Carmel Springs, Maine, and they’re off to a rocky start. Ruby agrees to a date with a handsome, charming local, only to show up to the (closed) restaurant to find him dead, making her the prime suspect for surly Detective Jones. This was a short, fun read, and I liked the combination of mysteries and mishaps and the introduction to the small town and some of its residents. I was quite surprised by the resolution, though it made sense and was explained well.
Having read Rosie A. Point’s Burger Bar series, I was excited to start this new one… and I wasn’t disappointed. Looking forward to more in this Bite-sized Bakery series!
I received an advance copy of this book. This review contains my honest thoughts and opinions.
Ruby owns a good truck called Bite-sized Bakery and plans to travel across the country visiting quaint towns and selling baked goods with her baker Bee. Their first stop is a seaside town in Maine. Ruby is asked out on a date by a local, Owen, and when she shows up the restaurant is closed and Owen is dead on the floor. Detective Jones calls her a person of interest and then seizes the food truck because Owen was poisoned along with being hit with a lobster mallet. Ruby and Bee decide to investigate so they can get the food truck back. They finally determine who the murderers are and call the police to arrest them. Great start to a new series!

Ruby decided to change her life and start a mobile business called Bite-Sized Bakery with her partner, Bee. In the town of Carmel Springs, life becomes intense as she finds a body and is accused of murder. Murder By Chocolate is the beginning of a new series that I definitely will be reading. I already love the complicated characters Rosie A. Point has created.

This is a new series by Rosie A. Point. I have read her “burger” series and enjoyed it very much, and so far I am also enjoying this new boo. Ruby and Bee become fast friends when Ruby rolls into Carmel Spring, Maine with her food truck. She is asked on a blind date but finds her “date” dead. Now she is a suspect in the murder of someone she never knew. Nice storyline, great characters! I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book from Booksprout. Go on get your own copy!
The author introduces us to Ruby and Bee who become your friends almost immediately. They set out with their new food truck to sell delicious baked goods, however, they get pulled into a murder mystery. They each a history we don’t know anything about yet and I want to know more.
