Murder. Mayhem. A madcap lady vicar.Reverend Annabelle Dixon is the charming, slightly gauche, very tall, thirty-something vicar of St. Mary’s Church located in the picturesque village of Upton St. Mary in Cornwall, England. Recently appointed to her rural church position, Annabelle is beloved by her parishioners for dispensing good advice and godly wisdom with humor and charm while zipping her … while zipping her Mini Cooper around the country lanes and attempting to build a relationship with her church cat, Biscuit, who, quite frankly, couldn’t care less.
Trouble arises when Annabelle faithfully welcomes a new resident to her quaint parish. Her visit to the latest newcomer, Sir John Cartwright, is two-fold: to greet him and to dispel rumors of shady doings at the manor. This time, however, instead of tea and cakes, Annabelle is served a heaping plate of murder and a fine helping of handsome Inspector Mike Nicholls!
Filled with laugh-out-loud moments and cake and pastry recipes, this humorous, cozy mystery is an excellent introduction to the Reverend Annabelle Dixon series.

This actually made me laugh in parts of it. I’ve read several of the series and enjoyed them all.
Another nice short cozy mystery. I had trouble sleeping last night so I put my earbuds in and listened to this story as an audio book. This relaxed me and I was surprised I could follow the story in bed. It reminded me of years ago when my mother read me to sleep (but this time I didn’t fall asleep but I was very relaxed listening to the story).
Cozy mystery at its best. She writes so you can really feel like you are there and the characters are believable. The mysteries are never gruesome but do contain a twist so are not predicatable.
Love Alison Golden’s books. The Vicar Annebell series is my favorite. I highly recommend!

Horror in the Highlands:

Vivid descriptions, an eclectic group of colorful characters, and a series of oddities and mysteries fill the pages of this cozy mystery where Reverend Annabelle visits her brother Roger and niece Bonnie on the island of Blodraigh, Scotland where she finds herself having to solve the murder of pub owner Harry Anderson without the help of the police while isolated on a small island in the midst of a severe storm. Things escalate when a chance email results in a surprise visit from Inspector Mike.
