Another awesome book by Sandi Scott. I just love the twins and how different they are. Georgie is always up to something and has to investigate things while her sister is so quiet and prefers to stay in the background.
When her Georgie’s son takes her to the Cabaret to see the show, things take an unexpected stop when the curtains go up and the start is found dead on the stage. Of course, it is Georgie to the rescue to solve the murder, when the police in charge seem to be doing nothing. Georgie always has to get into the middle of things and solve the case.
You will really enjoy this one. It is a great book and I could not put it down once I started it. I love a book that can just pull me in and make me feel like I am a part of it like this one did.
This is a very enjoyable series starring Georgie and Aleta – twins who though different as night and day – love to do almost everything together. Georgie is the more daring, fun loving sister, while Aleta is more down to earth and not purposely daring.
Georgie is an up and coming artist who paints portraits of dogs and can’t resist a mystery. So when her son comes to town with his best friend to see Georgie and his father, her ex-husband, Detective Stan Toon, things get interesting, especially since another man has asked Georgie out on a date.
Georgie’s son takes her to a Cabaret – front row even. They are really enjoying the show – until the curtains rise and the star of the show is found dead on the stage.
Yup, you guessed it, Georgie just knows she has to investigate…
This is an awesome series. Georgie and her twin sister Aleta attend the cabaret. The curtain opens and a dead body is on stage. Was it a natural death or a murder? Georgie uses her sleuthing skills to question those involved with the production. Georgie’s ex husband, Stan, is the police detective on the case. Georgie gets into areas that most people would not. She seems to find the right people to get answers.
Georgie’s son comes to visit along with his friend. They take Georgie to a caberet, which she loves and gets to meet quite a few of the cast. Things go haywire then a cast member is murdered. Georgie, naturally, gets involved in solving the murder. In the meantime, she is also dating again and Stan doesn’t like it at all and he goes out of his way to try to win Georgie back.
You have to just love Georgie and her twin sister Aleta. Georgie is complaining about Stan Toon, her ex-husband. He is also a detective for the police department where they live. Stan wants to get back together with Georgie. Georgie wants no part of “getting back together”. She has come to like her freedom. Georgie picks up their son, Andrew from the airport along with his friend JR. They have a surprise for Georgie…..they have tickets to the Clever Bulldog Cabaret where Madame Bray is performing! As Madame Bray is announced to start her part of the show, she is lying in the center of the stage-dead! Of course Georgie isn’t going to let the police just come in and take over. She isn’t happy with what they are doing or not doing and decides to investigate herself. This is where things tend to get a bit chaos for Georgie. Oh and let’s not forget her new male caller…..Obby. Can Georgie figure out who the killer is or will this be the one case that gets away from her unsolved? No one involved in it wants her help…police or the widower, Taylor Bray. You will have to read the book to find out what happens. I voluntarily read an ARC of this story. The review is my own opinion.
Love Georgie and Aleta they are so much fun. This series is a hoot, you have got to try it. Even though Georgie and Aleta are older, you would never know it by the situations they get into. Murder just seems to follow them. Seriously, you should read this series, you will not be sorry.
The fourth entry in the Pet Portraits Cozy Mystery series by Sandi Scott, Murder at the Cabaret catches us back up with Georgie Kaye, the eldest of the Kaye twin sisters. In this outing, Georgie is enjoying a visit from her youngest child, son Andrew, and his friend, JR. The boys decide to treat Georgie to an evening out in a new activity – a cabaret show in New Town. With a front row table they are in prime seating for the curtain going up and revealing that the leading lady, Madame Bray, has been murdered.
With such a closeup view of the what happened, Georgie finds investigating the murder simply irresistible with plenty of stops for dessert along the way. This time she has a little help in the form of Andrew and JR. However, her information and efforts are demeaned and rejected by the lead detective on the case, Detective Schwarz, who is from a different precinct than ex-husband, Stan Toon. A recurring character from a previous book, Malcolm Oberfield or “Obby” as he is known, makes his interest in Georgie clear when he asks her out on a date. This gives Georgie plenty to think about as she reflects on her relationship with Stan.
Once again, the dialogue is witty, the mystery interesting, and conclusion a viable one. This cozy mystery series really continues to entertain.
