Renee Pawlish is great. I love her detective characters so much! Dewey Webb and Reed Ferguson are both guys you’d like to have as friends. They’re honest, intelligent and loyal to their wives and their friends. Pawlish’s detective stories are the kind that you curl up with, a cup of hot tea beside you, the dog snoring at your feet, and you read for hours while you wonder who did it! Always entertaining, and I always look forward to the next one. In this particular book, Dewey Webb is on the trail of the person who knocked out his friend Chet and left him for dead in an alley behind a bar. It’s never who you think it will be….
Dewey Webb is on the case again, but this time it’s personal. A good friend has been attacked and left unconscious but no one knows why, or at least they aren’t saying. And why in the world would a man on trial for murder rather go to jail than provide his real alibi? Ms. Pawlish delivers another great historical whodunit. Plenty of action and suspense without explicit sex, violence or language. Join Dewey on his search for the truth; you won’t regret it!
Murder at Eight (The Dewey Webb Historical Mystery Series Book 7), my thirty-eighth read from author Renee Pawlish. I read this book in a matter of hours (work got in the way or I’d have taken less time)! Yeah, it is that good! A new Renee Pawlish book is like a visit from an old friend and guarantees an entertaining read. Another clean detective mystery written in post-WWII style. Great characters, great storyline, a must-read! I received an advance reader copy of this book from the author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Renee Pawlish has written another engrossing noir for us to enjoy. Dewey Webb picks up the trail after his friend and mentor from the old firm is sidelined. He’s able to follow the twisty trail of clues to the satisfying conclusion. Ms Pawlish is a wonderful writer, but if you have gotten this far in the series, you already know that. If you haven’t, and this is your first, I just envy you. Because I now have to impatiently wait for her to write another.
Murder at Eight is the latest Dewey Webb book by Renee Pawlish. True to form the story shows the reader post World War II Denver. Dewey’s friend Chet misses their meeting. Dewey finds Chet beat up in an alley. Thus begins the mystery to be solved. Pawlish puts enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing who dun it. Highly recommend this entire series.
I received an ARC in return for an honest review.
