Georgina Shaw better known as Georgie is a
25 year employee. She is a mature, good looking
and smart addition to the Public Relation Division.
She is the Assistant Director. Prior to being
promoted Georgie was second in command of
their Food and Beverage Division until Maximillian,
the owner brought in his daughter, Mallory
Marley-Marston to head the department. Mallory
was not a very nice person. She was rude, conceited,
condescending and vicious to all the employees.
So when she ends up dead, no one is surprised.
But concern that Georgie’s scarf is with her body
raises questions. Did Georgie kill her? Who had it
in for Mallory? Who want to frame Georgie?
A real well plotted whodunnit with a large array of
characters to suspect.
Homicide Detective Jack Wheeler is on the case.
He and Georgie have an undeniable chemistry
going on between them. Will this lead to anything?
The characters are well defined, artfully created,
and very realistic. Even Georgie’s Siamese cat,
Miles adds to the story with his antics.
A good read with mature sleuths, good humor and
a touch of romance.
I really identified with Georgie Shaw although I am a dog person rather than a cat mother. I will start book 2 as soon as I finish this review. This well written, delightful book has some comedy, some romance and some thrills.
The first book in the series will either make or break the book for the reader. You usually know within the first few chapters if you want to read it. This book catches you right up and keeps you hanging on until the end. I enjoyed reading this and look forward to reading the rest of the books in the series. I was already an Anna Celeste Burke fan from the Jessica Huntington series. So now I have two series to fall in love with and enjoy!!
I loved the first book in this series, can’t to get to the next one. Great characters and enjoyed to setting of the amusement park. Story was entertaining and kept me guessing as to “whodunit”. Great read!
A purr-fect crime!
A body is discovered at Catmmando Mountain in Marvelous Marley World and the evidence at the scene points to Georgie Shaw. Detective Jack Wheeler has plenty of other suspects to add to his list since the victim had a long list of enemies.
This book is an entertaining read and a good start to the series.
What a tangled web of deceit. Who would think working at a fun amusement park could turn up deadly? As a boss,Georgie Shaw is about to find out. This is a short fun read. While trying to stop romantic gestures from a “bear” who works in the park,a body is found. Doing press control for the park, Georgie meets Det.Jack Wheeler, the lead investigator. As the 2 begin to try to figure out who the murderer is, more suspects begin to emerge. I like the main characters in this story, and the cat named Miles. Looking forward to reading more in this series and how Georgie and Jack move on.
Murder at Catmmando Mountain is a delightful cozy mystery full of eccentric characters set in an amusement park. (Think Disney World.) Georgie Shaw is an intelligent, attractive, capable middle-aged woman. She is an interesting character and a terrific choice for the lead in a series of cozy mysteries. Detective Jack Wheeler is perfect as her new love interest. How can any man who reminds Georgie of James Garner not be perfect? I love stories with mature characters acting like adults and finding romance.
This may be a short story but there is a lot packed into the pages. It has twists, red herrings, a cranky boss, and much more. It is well-written and flows smoothly. I definitely recommend reading Murder at Catmmando Mountain. I’m eagerly awaiting Love in The Key of Sea-Book 2 in the Georgie Shaw Cozy Mystery Series.
Murder at Catmmando Mountain by Anna Celeste Burke was an excellent start to this new cozy series. I really liked Georgie and Jack but I’m probably prejudice since these characters both mature adults rather than usual late 20’s or early 30’s protagonists found in most books currently being published. Ms. Burke wrote a story that flows easily and quickly. I found myself turning the pages so I could try to get ahead of them in solving this complex mystery. Unfortunately, I never did guess who was behind it all until the reveal. The dialogue feels genuine and the banter between Georgie and Jack made me laugh. I’m glad that I have the rest of the books in the series so I can continue traveling through Marvelous Marley world.
Murder at Catmmando Mountain is the first novella in Anna Celeste Burke’s Georgie Shaw Cozy Mystery Series. Ms. Burke has written a well thought out and interesting mystery, with a good story line and excellent character development. The writing style flows smoothly and the book is a quick, easy read. The setting is original and the characters are relatable. I was engaged from the beginning of the book and the twists and turns had me guessing until the final reveal. This is a clean cozy mystery featuring no gratuitous sex, violence, or foul language. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well-crafted cozy mystery.
Georgina “Georgie” Shaw is an attractive and intelligent middle-aged woman who adores Miles, her Siamese cat, and loves her job as Assistant Director in the PR Division of Marvelous Marley World’s Arcadia theme park in Orange County, California. She’s been with the company for 25 years and prior to her current position, was second in command of the Food and Beverage Division. When the brutally stabbed body of Mallory Marley-Marston, daughter of the owner, Maximillian Marley, is discovered at Catmmando Mountain at with Georgie’s scarf nearby, she becomes one of many suspects. Mallory was viewed as a nasty, unhappy woman who had made more enemies than friends at work and had even had taken a position Georgie had coveted in the Food and Beverage Division. Homicide Detective Jack Wheeler is assigned to the investigation and once he confirms her alibi, quickly removes Georgie from the suspect list but believes someone is trying to make her appear guilty. There is a mutual attraction between Jack and Georgie, and they work together to figure out who is responsible.
When the body of “Cruella De Vil” was found on the Marvelous Marley World’s theme park property, no one was really surprised. Mallory Marley-Marston was the daughter of the owner, head of the of the Food and Beverage Management department, and all around bad egg. Thank heavens Georgie Shaw had a solid alibi though, it was her expensive scarf found with the body implicating her in the murder.
Georgie had been the number two under Mallory and had hoped to be department head before Mallory’s appointment. When the head of Public Relations let her know a management position would be opening up that he thought she’d be perfect for, Georgie jumped at the chance to change departments and be away from Mallory. Now that Mallory’s been murdered, single Georgie had no clue how she’d be able to have a solid alibi. I mean it’s not like her cat is going to be able to tell the police that she’d been home all night.
Jack Wheeler is the detective who’s been assigned to the case, and within their first conversation, he reveals that her alibi had already been verified for the time the murder occurred. Jack Wheeler is a handsome man, and Georgie’s not the only one to notice. When Jack asks her out, Georgie’s a little shocked, but agrees to go out with him.
Jack, with Georgie’s help, needs to figure out who killed Mallory, and why is the killer intent on framing Georgie for her murder? Can they solve the case before Georgie’s taken out, and not on a date?
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The way it unfolds, piece by piece show’s the mastery the author has for this genre. I was left speechless at the end when the complexity of the scam was laid out and exactly who was involved. Great writing, great characters, and great storyline makes for a super easy to read novel that’s definitely worthy of your time.
