When her boyfriend inherits an ancient vineyard in France, Maggie Newberry quits her job in Atlanta to accompany him for a year abroad. They settle in the tiny village of St-Buvard, but murder has gone long before them and follows close behind.
Murder à la Carte brings Atlanta copywriter and southern belle Maggie Newberry to the brink of two connected murders—both committed in her home—and both … her home—and both poised to threaten everything she holds dear. When Maggie agrees to move to France with her boyfriend—a French ex-confidence man who has just inherited a house and vineyard—she doesn’t expect her year of French market shopping and weekend trips to Paris to be interrupted by a vicious murder in her living room. Or that the bloody violence that occurred on their front doorstep sixty years earlier after the end of the Second World War might be connected. If you want to save the price of a ticket to the south of France this year, pick up Murder a la Carte instead. It will give you a delicious escape into the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of Provence — all tucked nicely within the framework of a tightly woven mystery that will keep you guessing until the very last page.

I am a huge fan of the Maggie Newberry series and have read all of them to date. The characters are so well-written and developed that Maggie and her family and friends seem real. The descriptions of Provence in France make me want to travel there to see it — and to meet Maggie! Love the stories and the mysteries that are intertwined.
This is the 2nd book in the Maggie Newberry murder series. Laurent inherits a vineyard in a small town in the South of France. He and Maggie move their intending to spend 1 year living there, making wine. Of course there is a murder. It happens in the “cave” under their home. Maggiw works on solving the murder as she tries to work out whether or …
The premise of the first book in the series is strained but still interesting. What is most enjoyable is that the characters are realistic as are the situations. Maggie moves to France to be with the boyfriend but has a hard time adjusting. The situation is what anyone could find themselves in. They go through difficult periods but manage to find …
I love France and I love this series!! Very well written – it’s like you’re there and you can smell the food cooking!!!
Moving to France challenges Maggie as she and Laurent tend to his inherited vineyard. A past murder connected to their chateau, several locals want to own the property, the vineyard is vandalized and the murder of a newfound friend make for an eventful holiday season.
Anything by this author is great.
I enjoyed this book. It pushed my knowledge of French culture and cuisine, and I was surprised, “who done it.”
Makes you want to make a visit. Loved the story and in particular the characters.
This review is really about all of the Maggie Newberry books. I have read them all and really like them. Maggie and Laurence are such a compatible couple. Although Maggie puts herself in danger which pretty much drives me crazy, I still like her. She is so persistent even when she should back off and let others investigate. I love reading series …
I love these cozy mysteries set in Provence!
Love Provence , French culture, and French cuisine!
Maggie is just like every woman I know, does not want to be told what and what not do, and Laurent I can almost picture him, but not quite, it’s hard to explain, it’s the mystery, you know there is more to him than meets the eye, you know he’s there, solid like a rock, see what I mean he’s there, but only part of him. Maggie is full charge.
Great series
Couldn’t get into it.
Loved this and all of this series. Looking forward to the next book
One of my new favorite authors! Love Maggie’s relationship with her husband. Good clean reading with no sex or cursing. Love her descriptions of the French countryside!
French stereotypes and incorrect language. She needs a bilingual proof-reader.
Learn what it would be like to live in France and own a vineyard.
This book got me hooked on Maggie and Laurent. I bought all the books in the series. Maggie gets herself into all kinds of trouble and escapes by the skin of her teeth. I love the setting of a family vineyard in the south of France and how Maggie as an American fits in in her own way. I highly recommend this book and the others in the series.
fun mystery. The plot is good and the character’s are well developed.
