Bestselling author Staci Hart is back with a brand new romantic comedy and clever spin on Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. Meet the Bennet brothers, get to know Longbourne, and fall in love in this steamy forbidden romance.Falling in love with a Bennet is not an option. My mother has summoned me home to take my place at Bower Bouquets, and as the heiress, I’m expected to do as I’m told. I’m … do as I’m told. I’m expected to sit by her side as she does her best to decimate the Bennet family and their flower shop, Longbourne. I’m expected to play by her rules, or she’ll ruin me too.
But the day I crash into Marcus Bennet changes everything.
And the kiss seals the deal.
If my mother finds out, I’ll lose everything—my family, my life, my security. Worse, she’ll make sure the Bennets pay for my mistakes.
Falling in love with a Bennet is not an option.
But I might not have a choice.

I really enjoy these forbidden romances. I feel like Staci Hart took it up a notch by giving us a kind of remaking of an older story… she likes to do that… I like to read them! The story of two feuding families is done masterfully by Mrs. Hart. Her writing is seriously captivating. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Maisie and Marcus. I can’t help but fall for the entire cast of characters… they’re all so fun and while they might be a bit outlandish, they all have this realistic feel to them that makes it such fun to read!
I’m so sad to see the Bennett books coming to an end now. Hart always delivers when she puts her own spin on classic novels. She just has a way creating characters and building up such a fabulous storyline. I feel so happy to have finally gotten to know Marcus! We’ve gotten some snippets of him previously but nothing has done him justice! Staci Hart always gives us the most swoonable men! I’m so excited to see where she goes next!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
Another fabulous story from Staci to you.
I’d almost call this book an insta-love kind of story. Not over the top kind as a lot of insta-love is, the very amazing kind.
The chemistry people, THE CHEMISTRY! WOOOW!!!
So this is a tale of to people from rivalling families falling in love. The build up, the execution, the character building, the everything is on point.
I loved it.
Mum’s the Word is the last book in the Bennet Brothers series by Staci Hart, and let me tell you this book is AMAZING!! the perfect kind of enemy to lovers, no that they hate each other more like her mother hates his family!
We know more about why the hate between these 2 families and of course we know the end of this series. i dont want to tell anything about the story so you can enjoy it when you read it. But let me tell you the story is soo freaking good!
The story has romantic, funny and steamy moments. Any new book i read by Staci show me that she is in fact the QUEEN of the romcom!!
I’m so excited to read her next book! and know about the other sibiling in this family!!
This was a good read! The writing flowed well from start to finish, and I loved Marcus and Maisie together. The insta love part of this story, didn’t bother me but Maisie’s mom was a real piece of work. I was really happy to see Marcus support Maisie and help her find the courage to stand up to her mom. It was interesting to read Marcus’s story because he was such the strong silent type in the other books. I love this family! They’re big and loud and and all around great family. The ending was perfect for these two, and although I’m sad to see this series end, but I’m really looking forward to the twins story!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
What happens when the person you just ran into and were instantly connected with turns out to be your enemy? Well, not technically your enemy, but the son of the family your mom is feuding with? Things get complicated.
I instantly loved the forbidden nature of their story, how they have to hide it so that no one uncovers their love. Marcus is the stoic one, the wise one. Always getting everything done for his family. The outsider almost among a big group of hotheads. Maisie always wanted to good, but has a mother who is anything but. These two finding their way under the nose of everyone opposing it, is sweet and at times hilarious.
As a preface: Instalove isn’t really *my* cup of tea, and I knew that getting into it. When you love that trope, this book is 100% for you. While they developped lovely, I wish I had seen a bit more of what made them fall so instantly. But a fun story overall.
Mum’s the Word was a swoonworthy delight. With each family member’s story I have fallen more for the Bennet family and I truly adored Marcus and Maisie’s story. Marcus has always been the reserved planner determined to save his family’s business yet the one thing he couldn’t have anticipated was Maisie. I loved seeing what a romantic at heart Marcus was and how supportive he was of Maisie as she forged her own path to happiness. I was thrilled to catch up with the rest of the Bennet clan and loved the little glimpses of what’s yet to come.
Oh Marcus, you just make me swoon constantly! This book is the third in the Bennett series and once again does not disappoint! I loved loved loved Marcus and Maisie! She was such a sweet, shy and kind young woman who had a backbone of steel once she realized it! Her mother on the other hand was a you know what! Lol I loved her relationship with her dad too! Marcus and his family as usual had me laughing out loud a lot and at times saddened for what they were going through. I love Staci Hart’s fresh and unique retellings of classic stories. She makes them her own even while holding onto the vein of the story. Wonderfully romantic book!
Well, it should come as no surprise that Staci Hart has once again hit a home run with Mum’s the Word. As the final novel in the Bennet Brothers series I had high hopes, but Marcus is well…Marcus, and I admit I wasn’t sure of the romance Staci could create for him that I would believe. She absolutely exceeded every thought I had though, giving readers a beautiful, touching, believable forbidden romance that put hope in my heart and tears in my eyes. Maisie turns Marcus’ life upside down, in such a way that all his plans and numbers and trusted life lessons can’t help him. The beautiful Bower daughter should be his enemy and he hers and yet they cannot fight the pull. A chance meeting, an explosive reveal, and a love that will be put through the test of their families longstanding rivalry.
“I wanted to see her again as desperately as I hope it’d never happen.”
Marcus has been the sure-footed Bennet brother, the middle child who thrived on order and numbers. Independent, somber, and uninterested in the short-lived affairs his brothers once partook in. Marcus is so different than his siblings, but my word does Staci Hart give him a romance that, in my opinion, rivals the others. It is passionate, forbidden, a true alignment of the stars. Maisie is the opposite of everything her mother wants, a true romantic with a desire to help humans. Made of compassion, charm, and the flowers she’s been raised around Maisie is everything Bower is not and yet she is swept up in a battle of wills with her mother. But with Marcus comes a new passion, one that doesn’t rely on her mother’s power to succeed. These two are literally an actual match made in heaven, there is no doubt in my mind that they were meant to be. I know, I know, I totally got over invested in the story, but it’s like the world had aligned for it all to happen just so for them. Sure, it wasn’t without bumps, but my word do these two just bring out the best in one another.
“Because this was the beginning of something-I knew it in my marrow. Hang the rest. Because Maisie was mine. And I wasn’t about to let her go.”
Family oriented, sweet sweet romance, and some smutty love too? Mum’s the Word had it all and them some. Maybe it was a bit less garden-y, but all the aspects of the Bennet family chaos was there and seeing the Longbourne Flower business change and grow and thrive was just the icing on the romantic cake. This story unfolds in such a beautiful, floral way. I mean, quite literally, the words Staci uses are gorgeous and so descriptive it all unfolded in front of me like a movie. Mum’s the Word is a story within a story and it’s one I could not put down. I’ve loved the Bennet brothers and I cannot wait to see this world expand.
ARC provided.
Mum’s the word was my favorite book of this whole series!!! Maisie and Marcus were everything.
This book had me on the edge of my seat just wanting more of these two, who doesn’t love a story about two people who love each other but cannot be together? It makes me cry but I always love those the most. Maisie was the best, I just loved her and she has to be my favorite Staci character ever. I loved how Maisie and Marcus just make each other better, they needed each other and together they are fire.
I really didn’t want this book to ever end. This book is a MUST READ!!!!
The story of Marcus and Maisie was unexpectedly sweet and hot. We got a glimpse of Marcus in the other two Bennet Brothers books in this series and he appeared to be so guarded and closed off to opening up his heart but that is not the case at all. The chemistry between Marcus & Maisie is heightened because their families have had a generations long rift, both personally and professionally. Staci Hart writes so beautifully that you are transported into their world where you’ll feel as if you’re in the book right alongside the characters.
Pride and Prejudice is one of those books I have to read every year, much as I do Les Misérables and East of Eden. Given that Staci Hart writes delightful (and HOT) romances, I knew that I would love her spin on Jane Austen’s classic.
I had not read the prior two books in this series, and I didn’t feel like I was lost, and I never felt confused. After I finished this book, I immediately downloaded Coming up Roses and Gilded Lily because I was absolutely not ready to quit reading about the Bennet brothers.
Mum’s the Word turns its focus on Marcus, the Mary Bennet of the story. He’s one of those guys whose life is work, although he makes time for family dinners and placating his mother. It isn’t that he doesn’t want love–in fact, seeing two of his brothers happily ensconced in relationships gives him a bit of a yearning–but rather he doesn’t have the time.
When he meets Maisie, though, he knows. He KNOWS. He has found HER, the woman he never took the time to believe truly existed. That she is the daughter of his mother’s enemy is almost a minor quibble, at least to him. Maisie, on the other hand, is very much bothered by this enormous (to her) sticking point. Regardless of how toxic her relationship is with her mother, she fears disappointing her. She is terrified of angering her.
Marcus knows who he is, and he’s confident in that knowledge. He may need to re-prioritize work and life, but he’s a good guy at heart. He isn’t someone who needs to change in any fundamental way. For Maisie, though, change is necessary. Her priorities aren’t out of whack so much as jumbled. She doesn’t know herself well enough to trust that she deserves what she hopes to have.
There is a sweetness to this book, a terrific wit, and some delicious hotness. I have a huge crush on Marcus Bennet thanks to Staci Hart.
Ahhhh! There’s nothing like a story that has you swooning from beginning to end.
This the case for Mum’s the Word, my heart has never beat as fast as it did while reading this story. I fell in love quickly with Maisie and Marcus. These two are quite opposites but so perfect for each other. Their connection is undeniable and it’s obvious since their very first meeting.
Of course, everything it’s not rainbows and unicorns, they both have something to fight for and as it turns out, their lives become intertwined and this makes it a whole lot of difficult to pursue a romantic relationship between them. But OMG, you can feel the push and pull between these two, how even when they’re going through this horrid situation, they can’t help but gravitate towards each other. The chemistry is explosive and beautiful.
Swoony and oh so sweet.
Marcus Bennett stole my heart and I just love this story oh so much!
It is no secret that I am a fan of Jane Austen adaptations, or that I adore this series. However, Mum’s The Word is, by far, my favorite of this series. From the very first page, the story drew me in, and it kept me emotionally invested to the very last page.
Though branded a romantic comedy and filled with a number of humorous moments, MTW is the most heartfelt and emotional of the Bennet Brothers series.
When Marcus and Masie meet, this isn’t insta-lust or insta-love. This is a meeting of two souls that have finally found one another and somehow know they are now complete. There is no logic to it, and for Marcus Bennet, a man ruled by logic and order, this knocks him off center. And yet, even after learning who she is, and what it may mean for his family, Marcus, for the first time in his life, defies logic and, instead, follows his heart.
These two are simply perfect together. As we know from the first two books, the Bennet family is a loud and loving family. I love how Staci utilizes family moments to illustrate how vastly different Masie and Marcus were raised. In addition, so much of this story shows how two people who have never met, yet have been raised to believe the worst of one another, can still find true love and acceptance in each other’s arms.
This was the perfect conclusion to this series!
Staci’s writing is flawless as always. She has such a knack with bringing us beautiful stories that draw you in from beginning to end and make you seriously swoon. Each book she writes cements why she is one of my favourite authors as I always love what she gives me.
I have been excited for Marcus’s story and I honestly think this was my favourite from this . Marcus is the serious Bennett, he’s reserved and likes order, the complete opposite of Maisie. She’s strong and quite headstrong, fighting for what she wants and her heart is so sweet and caring. Together these two completely compliment each other, bringing out the best.
Marcus is desperately trying to save his family’s flower shop whilst Maisie’s mum is trying to destroy it in any way possible, including trying to use her daughter to do it.
As always Staci brought her brilliant trademark wit, steam and humour mixed with some drama that kept you turning the pages from beginning to the end.
As always as I’m excited to see what she brings us next.
5 Power Couple Filled Stars!!!
Omg yes, finally!!! Even though this is the last book in the series and that is devastating bc I LOVE this family!!!
But, since the beginning I’ve wondered about two things: Marcus! He’s the middle child out of the 5 Bennet siblings and he’s the quiet, responsible one and sticks out next to the others. The other mystery to me is Bower Bouquets. There’s been a feud between them and the Bennet’s family business Longbourne for centuries. What happened all those years to lead to them wanting to put Longbourne’s outta business once and for all?!?!
Marcus was working on Wall Street and was making a killing. When he found out his families business was failing he moved back and gathered his siblings to turn it around before it was gone forever.
Marcus bought Longbourne from his mom. With his two brothers are their specialties they really started to make a dent and started making progress. That was until that got served for bring in breach of contract. A contract his mother signed with Bower Boutique and didn’t tell them.
Marcus won’t give up without a fight. On the way to meet with Mrs. Bower he runs into the most beautiful girl he’s ever laid his eyes on. He wishes he can spend all afternoon with Maisie. Instead he gets her number and they agree after their meetings they’ll meet for dinner.
Maisie can’t believe she’s back home. When her mother called and summoned her home and agreed to give her back her nonprofit she started years ago she knew her mother was up to something. Her mother had demands.
Maisie is the next in line for control of Bower Boutique and her mother is making her shadow her in order for her to learn how to run it. Even watching her destroy Longbourne’s. Doesn’t matter that Maisie doesn’t agree her mother has it or for Mrs. Bennet.
The bright spot of her day was literally running into Marcus. That was until he walked into the meeting she was stuck going to thanks to her mother. Marcus is the Marcus Bennet, one of the Bennet siblings fighting her mother.
The instant Marcus realizes Maisie is Margaret Bower he knows they’ll never work out. Maisie knows they’ll never work out but that doesn’t stop her from asking Marcus to kiss her.
Turns out it was the best kiss either of them ever had. They can’t stop thinking about each other and go looking for each other. Even though they know they should stay away from each other, they can’t. They decided if nobody knows, nobody can get hurt. ESP Maisie If her mom was to find out.
Maisie is looking to work on expanding her nonprofit and helping those in need and following enough of her moms demands that she can still sneak away to spend time with Marcus.
Marcus is trying to get the contract his mom signed kicked out of court. It’s literally a loose loose for his family and Mrs Bower knew it when she went to his mom.
The best parts of his days are when Maisie is in his arms. Maisie hates what her mom is doing to the Bennet family and she starts giving Marcus information on what’s coming next.
They can’t wait for it to be over. Maisie is 110% ready to throw the towel in at Bower Boutique over everything her mother is doing.
Maisie and Marcus plan their future together. Them in power couple mode. They want to make Longbourne a huge success and add more of Maisie’s nonprofits everything could be perfect.
If only things were as perfectly amazing as we make them in our minds. Maisie finds out things with her mother and Bower Boutique weren’t as they appeared. Which starts an argument between her and Marcus.
Omg I love this couple, this series. Literally everything about all three of these couples is perfect!!
When Maisie’s father finally explained exactly what happened to put these families at odds my jaw dropped!!
Maisie is my favorite woman I’ve read in 2020 so far. Hands down my favorite!! No matter how cruel and evil her mother was to her, she still held her ground and did what she thought was right. Even if it was to help her mothers enemy.
The love her and her dad had was beautiful. The emotional torture and abuse her father went through all bc he loved his daughter and he wanted to protect her. He’s my favorite parent I’ve read in 2020!!
Maisie and Marcus are legit perfect!!! These two are work horses and they do what’s right for the people they care about. Regardless of who it is or the situation.
Don’t start reading this if you’re tired or have somewhere to be. You’ll be mad if you gotta put it down lol trust me.
Even though this is the last in the Bennet Brothers Series, stay tuned bc Staci is taking the eldest siblings/twins Jett and Laney to Wasted Words and I’m stoked. Hurry up Staci lol.
I knew I’d love Marcus and Maisie’s story. I was gearing up for quite an enemies-to-lovers spectacle, but it actually turned into a friends-to-lovers masterpiece. I love love love how these two met, formed that instant soulmate-level attraction, then worked their way through quite a love story.
Marcus and Maisie were born to be enemies. Somewhere deep in their bones, they know that they’re destined to be forever at odds with one another. But my, oh my…when those sparks start to fly? The end. Done. There’s no fighting it. I love that deep in her bones, Maisie is a good person. And I love that Marcus sees that.
When happenstance leads to love, you know you’re in for a beautiful story. This book fits the Bennet family stories so well. As always, the rich imagery that this author brings forth makes is so easy for you to envision just what she wants you to see.
I love these Bennet brothers so much. This entire series was so enjoyable and I was totally swept up in the lives of this family and Longbourne, their flower shop.
When Marcus is nearly run over by a beautiful stranger, Maisie, he immediately feels a connection with her that he’s never felt before. When they realize who each other really are, they know nothing can ever happen between them. Their chemistry is undeniable and they soon realize that they have to try to make it work, regardless of the consequences.
This forbidden, star-crossed lovers was so enjoyable to read and escape into. Marcus and Maisie were so dang good together. Their love is beautiful, pure, and true. I couldn’t get enough of this world and everyone in it.
While I am sad to see this family and series go, this was the perfect way to say goodbye. I loved how true to Austen’s original characters this author stayed but put the perfect contemporary twist on the plot. If you love Austen, steam, family, and romance, look no further. Go pick up this series right away!
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
Being a fan of the other Bennet Brothers books, this beauty became one of my most anticipated reads of 2020! I was hooked from the very first chapter and from that point on I couldn’t get enough of this story! Mum’s The Word has my heart completely and I loved it so much!
I fell so head over heels in love for these characters and their unique journey.
Ms.Hart has done it once again with Mum’s The Word! She created such an addictive and unforgettable journey! This is exactly the kind of read that I needed in my life! I’m so excited to read what she releases next!
This book was so good guys! I started to read and I just got completely sucked in and did not want to put it down! I’m not usually a fan of instalove but from the very beginning, I felt the connection between Marcus and Maisie which only built throughout the story. The plot was just spot on, something that developed unbelievably well throughout the story although there were a few small parts that felt a little were repetitive. BUT in the end I kind of understand why Staci Hart put them there . . Drilling home a thought or feeling in the characters, so keep reading!
It was all just well laid out. I’m excited to see what comes next and for the crossover with Wasted Words! Bring it on.
