Escape to a getaway by the beach, with a brand new summer romance from the bestselling author of THE HEARTBREAK CAFE and more.
The Bay Hotel, perched on a clifftop above a sweeping bay, was once the heart and soul of pretty Irish seaside town Mulberry Bay.
Run by the Harte family, the place was as beloved as cheery landlady Anna, and visitors from far and wide came for the warm welcome and … welcome and charming surroundings.
The hotel was also once home to thirty-something sisters Eleanor and Penny, and while youngest sister Penny still lives close by, it’s been some time since Elle has been back.
But following a family tragedy, she is forced to return from her busy London world and confront the reality of the life she left behind.
When it becomes apparent that the property may need to be sold, the sisters are unprepared by the reaction of their father, Ned. He steadfastly refuses to give up their mum’s legacy, revealing that the family has given up something equally precious once before.
Intrigued by their father’s revelation, the sisters unite, with the local community behind them in their efforts to save the hotel – and, in the process, help heal the fractures in the Harte family.

I finally finished this book, it started out interesting, but then got pretty dull. My take on the father Ted, was pretty lazy did nothing at the hotel but go around humming The Beetles songs. Knew they needed money but didn’t work at the hotel or have a outside job. The girls characters were pretty well developed, but didn’t keep my interest.
Love, love, love this book. You knew they would get together at the end but getting there was an adventure. I also appreciated that the book was written without a lot of steamy sex. . . just proves it can be done.
Predictable, but fun read!
The characters came alive. They were fully fleshed and I especially loved Ned, who used song lyrics to communicate when he had trouble finding a way to say the things he wanted to. He was so quirky. Elle found herself. Penny found her love. The town rallied behind their effort to save the hotel. It was such a nice read. The romance was all there, without the blow by blow (grope by grope?) sex scenes (thank you very much). The editing nearly perfect. I really think you will enjoy this book. She is now one of my favorite authors, along the lines of Maeve Binchy.
This was well written with only a few minor grammatical errors. The story was interesting and I enjoyed reading it.
I really enjoyed this book! There was something for everyone–good family relationships (and not-so-good ones that got better), romance, strong characters with spirit and backbone, and an interesting story! A meaty story, not a fluffy one, like so many these days (but I did think the romance angst went on a bit long).
So so
Characters were relatable, flawed and likable. The use of Beatles songs was fun and unique.
Very much enjoyed the book.
i loved this book. the characters were well developed and likeable. the story line was interesting and believable. I recommend this book.
I loved this book. It had lots of parts that were real to life. It was exciting and I just couldn’t put it down because I needed to know what the characters were going to do next. It was a very caring loving book!!! I will read it again.
It was a little boring. I did not finish it.
Really enjoyed it.
The book ended up being good, but it took too long, at least half way, to get really into the characters. Main character was unbelievable.
I really enjoyed this fun and sweet and lighthearted read.
Charming, enough tension to involve yet not discourage a full read.
Good summer beach read or a cold winter day . Not great, but likeable characters and a good story
I won’t say it’s my favorite book, some of it was unbelievable. It’s about two sisters, one who left home and became a successful architect and the other stayed home to help with the family hotel on the coast of Ireland. The mother passed away and the other sister came home to help her family deal with their loss and realized how much financial trouble the hotel had. All about relationships and making amends. The father has an unbelievable obsession with the Beattles which I thought very strange or maybe just quirky. It was OK not fabulous but a nice story.
I love books set in Ireland. My ancestors came to the United States in the 1700s and I love descriptions of Irish life.
It’s okay. Not gripping but probably a decent beach read.
Melissa Hill is a new author to me and I thoroughly enjoyed reading Mulberry Bay. In fact, it is one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read. I could hardly put it down. I look forward to reading more of her books.
