***** This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building.

Muffins Masks Murder (Auntie Clem’s Bakery #10) my fifteenth read from author P.D. Workman. Extremely well written, the characters well-developed building over the first nine books in the series. I’m a character reader, I get into the characters. Who and what they are. Why they do the things they do. The things that make a reader get invested into the characters and thereby the book. I really look forward to Tai Chi and Chai Tea (Auntie Clem’s Bakery Book 11). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Erin has a rough go of it in this book. Just gets back from the cruise (read previous book), her boyfriend goes back to work, and gets accused of murdering someone.
Lots of rabbit trails to follow. Do not get lost. Erin got lost a few times and took a while to get it. At least, I think so. She seems to be questioning herself a lot in this book. Or is it just me? This author tends to put thinking material in their books. Could this be it? Read it and let me know what you think.
Great addition to the series. Can be read by itself but enough references that you will want to go back and catch up, especially for characters.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC Book.
My apologies for lateness of this review.
Muffins Masks Murder is the 10th book in the Auntie Clem’s Bakery Series by P.D. Workman. All of the books in this series are standalone, so you can read any or all of them as you wish. You don’t have to read the whole series if you aren’t of a mind to. That being said, I love the characters in this series and how they’re woven together in a series of stories that have been delightful to read and enjoy. I would highly recommend reading the whole series- it’s a lot of fun!
In this book, Erin Price has returned to her home in Bald Eagle Falls along with her coworker Vic and their boyfriends, Terry and Willie. But no sooner does Erin return to the bakery and begin working then she hears of a death. Thankfully, this time she’s not the one accused of having been responsible. But soon she finds out the Terry has been accused and that’s just as bad as if she had been the one accused. Erin quickly tries to get to the bottom of what happened and the more she tries to tie up loose ends, the more they seem to unravel.
Unexpected twists and turns…
This story is a wonderful addition to the series. Shortly after returning from a vacation cruise, Erin and her friends are eager to get back into their routines. When a suspect in police custody ends up dead from an unknown cause, suspicion is cast on Erin’s boyfriend, Terry. He is a local policeman who has always worked tirelessly to protect and serve his community. It is unthinkable that Terry could be guilty of any wrongdoing but whispers and rumors start flying. Erin and Terry must figure out what happened to the detainee and clear Terry’s name. Let the adventure begin. This story offers a good mystery, wonderful characters, a bit of clean romance, some real danger and plenty of twists and turns to hold your attention to the very end. Grab a copy and settle in for a fun and entertaining read.
I was provided with an advance copy of this book and I am voluntarily offering my honest and unbiased review.
Hold onto your hat! This one takes you on quite a ride. Erin’s boyfriend, Terry, is suspected of police brutality. Erin knows he can’t be guilty, so she sets out to solve the case. As expected of this author, the plot is solid, the characters well-developed and believable, and the story is moved right along by her skilled writing. I’m looking forward to the next book. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
This is the first book I’ve read in the Auntie Clem’s Bakery series but it won’t be my last. While this is the 10th book in the series I was able to fill in some of the blanks from things I’ve missed. It took me awhile to warm up to the characters and at times I found the story disjointed by Erin’s actions or comments. Terry was a likable character who had a lot on his plate but having to soothe Erin all the time could be a full time job.
There were a lot of family and friends along with jobs, clans and lots of police activities. There were twists and turns to the story and enough loose ends to take us to the next book in the series. There was some closure but it didn’t go far enough for me.
This is a new to me author and I do look forward to reading more of the author’s books and not just in this series. (
