4.5 Sweet and Swoon-Worthy Stars!
Much Ado About You is the latest release from author Samantha Young. It follows the story of Evie and Roane. Evie is at a bit of a crossroads in life and feels as if all of her friends are moving on without her. After a failed date and change in her work status, Evie needs to escape it all. In an impulsive move, Evie books a once in a lifetime trip to Alnster. Evie hopes that this getaway will not only give her the peace she’s looking for, but to discover who she truly is….
Much Ado About You is a fun and enchanting read. I instantly fell in love with the scenery and town of Alnster. I loved how welcoming everyone was and how they made you feel like you knew them forever. And can we talk about Roane. Roane is the perfect man. He feels this intense connection to Evie and is determined to take whatever she is willing to give. What starts off as a beautiful friendship, quickly melds into something more. The banter and chemistry between Roane and Evie was fantastic. They were an easy couple to root for and they left you begging for more. The road to happily ever after wasn’t without a few bumps along the way, but as I said before, you can’t help but just love this couple and hope that everything will work out for them in the end.
Much Ado About You entertained me from the first page to the last. I loved the nods to Shakespeare and Evie’s love for the written word. I loved how comfortable the townsfolk of Alnster made Evie. I enjoyed watching Evie play matchmaker with certain members of the town, meddling in their lives for the greater good. I adored Roane and loved the way he just made me swoon. This book gave me everything I was hoping for and certainly gave me all of the feels.
If you’re looking for a sweet romance that will give you all the feels and that has just the right amount of drama, look no further. Much Ado About You is just the book you’re looking for. Samantha Young doesn’t disappoint.
I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.
This book resonates with me so much, being the same age as Evie, our love of books and words, and a feeling of lost hope at times. It felt like this book was written about me! And it think any reader has been through some of these emotions, so they will also be able to connect with this novel.
I’m not at all familiar with Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare, and even though this book does refer to that story, it isn’t the main focus of this story. It does make me want to try to read it, though, but I need to be in the right mind set for a story like that.
I love Evie and Roane’s story so much, I’m not sure if I can express how much! I love how they met, when Evie saved Roane’s dog Shadow (I live for dogs!), I love watching Evie find herself and her passion in life, and I love the romance and friendships that were built during Evie’s adventure. The secret that was revealed was actually quite adorable after everything was settled down.
And Evie should consider being a therapist or a life coach, because she sure does have a magical way of helping everyone around her. Though I’m sure being a bookseller and an editor keeps her plenty busy!
I am so glad that Samantha Young wrote this fantastic novel and I can’t wait to see what her next masterpiece is!
A sweet, funny and endearing story of finding yourself, where you belong and what you want to do with your life. Even if it’s in the least likely of places. Evie has had it with men and Chicago. On a whim she books a working vacation in England running a bookstore and immersing herself in the country she always dreamed of visiting. The people, the store, it weaves a spell around her, especially the handsome farmer Roane and his sweet dog. She vowed to not let him in but love is often found when you least expect it. Loved this five star read! Laughed, cried and laughed again!
This was such a sweet and entertaining read. There were so many fun scenes that had me smiling. I loved getting to know Evie and Roane and couldn’t get enough of the small-town vibe of the village and the cast of characters involved.
5 stars!
This is a delightful gem of a read! A book that completely captured my heart and whisked me away to the wild English coast in a story of love, friendship, and finding your true place in the world. I laughed, I swooned and I fell in love as I journeyed with a wonderfully relatable heroine and, like her, fell in love with a rugged farmer and a village full of assorted characters. A 2021 fave!
Evie is 33 and struggling to figure out her life. She’s had no luck with relationships, has been overlooked for a promotion once again, and it feels like her friends’ lives are moving on without her. Desperate for a change of scenery and some time to get away from it all and take stock of her life, she books herself a trip to a small village on the north-eastern coast of England where she finds an apartment that comes with a built-in job temporarily managing the local bookstore downstairs from her rental. As a mad book lover, it’s a dream opportunity, and just what Evie needs while she sorts herself out.
It takes no time at all for Evie to settle in to her new life – she loves everything about her new job, and is quickly swept up into the lives of the local townsfolk. None more so than local farmer, Roane. Roane’s interest in Evie is evident from the very beginning, but she has no intention of starting anything with him. Not only is she generally wary of men, but her stay is temporary and she doesn’t want to tempt heartbreak by getting involved, so she proposes friendship, and she and Roane grow close… and closer… and closer still as the sexual tension builds into an irresistible chemistry that becomes so much more than she ever expected.
“This isn’t just sex for me, Evie. I want us to take a chance on each other, for real.
… I knew Roane. I knew that it would never just be sex for him. He wasn’t that guy. And he didn’t look at me like a guy who just wanted one thing.”
Roane just stole my heart! He is sweet, fun, protective and devoted to the people he cares about – and that includes Evie. He makes no secret of his attraction to her, but he respects her wishes and keeps his distance until she’s ready. And when she’s ready, damn. The man is sexy and affectionate, pure “lady porn”, and he’s all in, holding nothing back, and I absolutely adored him!
“I want you to be mine, as I am yours.”
But a life-changing romance wasn’t in Evie’s plans, and she’s still got a few personal demons to wrestle with. There is some drama and ups and downs while she figures it all out, but it’s all a part of her journey and it’s a mostly low-angst read as we watch her work through it all.
“You’re my home.”
I loved Evie as a heroine. She’s so relatable, and a lot of her journey and the reasons behind it are really realistic. I found myself agreeing with so many of her thoughts and revelations as she seeks to figure out what she wants and where she wants to be.
“I don’t want you, or anyone, to wake up in ten, twenty years’ time, and wonder what could have been. Such benign little words – ‘what if’. But at some point in life, those two words become the scariest two words in the English language.”
And the little village of Alnster came to life for me with Evie’s vivid descriptions, and in the lives of its residents. I felt transported to the little seaside town, and a part of the local community of characters as Evie became a part of their lives and went out of her way to help her new friends deal with their issues and find their own happiness. A lot of times while reading I kept hoping that Young would turn this into a series, with so many of the side characters deserving a story of their own, but there’s lots of little side-plots running through the book which provide entertainment and character development for them and I love that we get this all-encompassing story that is so much more than a romance (though that romance is more than enough to carry the book on its own).
I can’t gush enough about how much I loved this book. It’s the perfect escapist read, and I read it in a day, unable to put it down, and finished it hugging my kindle with a huge cheesy grin on my face.
5 huge stars.
In ‘Much Ado About You’ we meet thirty three year old Evie. Evie is done with men and dating, after her last date disaster. And when she doesn’t get the job offer she worked so hard for, she decides it’s time to get away for a while. So when she looks up possible trips to England, and sees the opportunity of a life time: an apartment for four weeks including running a small town bookstore, she can’t resist and books immediately. Soon Evie is in England, and she instantly loves the little town and it’s residents. And especially Roane Robson, the handsome farmer she meets soon after arriving and who makes everything more fun.
This book was something else, really! I mean Roane Robson.. OMG!! That guy ruined me!! From the moment Evie met Roane, I simple loved that guy. He was handsome, honest, fun and caring. And although he knew he is a handsome guy, he really doesn’t want people to be interested in him just for his looks. And right from the moment he meets Evie, it’s clear he likes her. And I loved reading how he did his best, to make Evie like him too.
And yes, I also loved Evie’s character. I would definitely like to be friends with her. She loves books, loves Shakespeare, and is now running a bookstore. As a reader and book blogger.. What’s not to like about her? And don’t even get me started about the chemistry between Evie and Roane! It was definitely something you could feel coming of the pages. And I loved every slow burning moment between them.
This book was 380 pages long, and I read it in only a day. I read way past my bed time, because I just couldn’t put it down. I loved the main characters, I loved the small England town and it’s residents and I loved the whole idea of this Much Ado About Books bookstore. And can you believe there is such a Bookstore/apartment renting concept in Scotland? I loved that Samantha was inspired by that bookstore, and wrote this beauty of a book.
‘Much Ado About You’ is a great romantic, entertaining, fun read I loved from start to finish. And I’d really recommend it!!
Much Ado About You by Samantha Young is a cozy stand-alone romantic comedy set in a small English village. It is perfect to get swept away in and to bury yourself under a blanket with a cup of tea or coffee.
.
Our protagonist Evie is in her thirties and in a point of her life where it isn’t fulfilling. Dating is just a nightmare and she is past over a work promotion. Then she comes across an ad to look after a little bookstore in England and goes for it. She loves Shakespeare and I also liked how she cared for the people around her. Evie is an amazing character and I loved to follow her perspective.
.
Our hero Roane is a local farmer. He is sweet and sexy at the same time and I totally fell in love with him. In addition, he is loyal and charming and you learn more about him with each page. I’m also a fan of his cousin Caro who’s story you see briefly as well and I loved that.
.
The two meet one day very unexpectedly when Evie tries to rescue Roane‘s dog. Afterwards they become good friends until it slowly turns into more and I absolutely adored that. Their story has so many beautiful moments and it is a total cozy and feel good book that I loved so much.
.
Overall, Evie and Roane‘s story is just incredible and will put a smile on your face and I highly recommend it. 5 stars.

Much Ado About You by Samantha Young was such a fun read. Evangeline, Evie, needs a change and going away may just give her what she needs. She finds herself running a small bookstore and meeting some very interesting people. What she never expected was to love her new temporary home so much and find herself so attracted to Roane. Their journey, but more specifically, Evie’s was full of second chances, hope and so much more. But this is only temporary, right? Such a sweet and delightful read.

Happy reading!
4.5
When I got the chance to read this story I didn’t know what to expect, and instead I found myself literally devouring a book that
probably, given what I usually prefer to read, it would have escaped my attention.
I know for a fact that many love Samantha Young and her style, but for me she was a real discovery.
I loved her writing smooth, clear, hilarious, and thrilling ….
The novel is a slow burn, friends to lovers.
From the first chapter we immediately enter the heart of the story with Evie and her
love misadventures.
And you fall in love with her because she is one of us.
You love her for her insecurities and
the rolls of “fat”, and for her to be a nosy who tries to fix everyone’s life.
Roane, on the other hand, is the perfect man: no playboy, possessive alpha and assholes, he is a sweet, loyal, very mature boy for his age who believes in love and looking for the woman of his life (I propose for the role LOL ).
The relationship that is created between them is initially that of a deep friendship but the attraction between the two is undeniable, and it is impossible to ignore it.
The context is that of a small English village, where the inhabitants know everything about everyone. This creates funny but also exciting situations.
Samantha Young was great at creating secondary characters that are almost as intriguing as the lead couple, and I have to admit that for some of them I was hoping for a book that would tell their story.
“Much Ado For You” contains all the elements that make a novel beautiful but also meaningful, because Young is the bearer of
important messages: no to body shaming, no to racism and no to homophobia.
So yeah, as far as I’m concerned Much Ado About You is a book you should read.
Much Ado About You was fun, emotional, and charming! I have always been a fan of Much Ado about Nothing, so I was excited to dive in. You have the beautiful small town, the zany townsfolk, the miscommunications, the lies.
I think middle aged readers will feel a kinship with Evie right away-she can’t find the right guy, she quits her job, and she just feels like life has passed her by. Evie’s complicated relationship with her mom really resonated for me as I understand what it is like to be the child of an addict.
Roane is the hunky young farmer who falls hopelessly in love with Evie. However, Evie isn’t going to make it easy, which leads to some deception on Roane’s part. I wasn’t a huge fan of this because it seemed unnecessary after awhile.
The secondary characters are fun, and honestly, I felt like this was their story as much as Evie’s and Roane’s. In that sense, its very much like Much Ado about Nothing! If you are looking for a book to curl up and escape with, Much Ado About You is a great pick!
I loved Much Ado About You! Samantha Young has a way of creating characters that you can relate to connect with to make the story that much more meaningful. Evie swears off mean after many bad experiences, decides to quit her job and take a trip to a small town in England. While on her trip she has a position running the bookstore, which Evie is excited to use this time to figure out what she wants out of life. However, when she arrives she gets pulled into the small town drama, lives, and starts to build friendships with the locals. One in particular is Roane, she tries to keep him at arms length to protect herself, but the constant flirting and connection can’t be ignored. Will their romance be the forever kind or will past experiences and the ways of a small town impact their future? Read and find out what happens between Roane and Evie!
Samantha Young is one of my auto-buy authors. At least for her contemporary romance books. And once again I loved and swooned at her story. First of all, I remember hearing about a bookstore at one time that had an opportunity like is featured in this book. Where you could “vacation” at the store and run it while you were there. That sounds like a dream come true to me. And for Evie, it starts out that way. Of course once she is there, things get interesting. The quaint little English village has its own charms, along with feuds and crazy things you’d only probably expect from a small town. As expected there is the handsome man, one that is perfect for a holiday fling, except that Evie doesn’t want that. She wants to concentrate on herself because she is in a way running from the problems of romance that she’s dealt with in the past.
Now, her two “no thank you” items for guys, younger and wealthy, are very interesting. Personally, I get them both, but also, come on, both are very subjective based on who the person is and how their life was. Well, Roane is a sexy farmer with an adorable Great Dane that is tempting her to maybe make an exception and have a little holiday fun while she’s there. Especially after her short trip turns into a longer stay. And Evie really becomes a member of the town, even to the point where she is kind of meddling, trying to help people with their own romantic or familial issues when she can.
The reason this one didn’t get a full 5 stars from me, is that it didn’t hold me captive to where I couldn’t put it down until the very end. The part when I was so mad at Evie for being ridiculous in how she reacted to the final conflict. I hate when characters act that way. While in a way the reaction was somewhat needed to get her back home and figuring things out with her own family, I feel she totally overreacted in how far she went. Not to say I didn’t have tears, but mostly they were for Roane at that point, because I was so mad at Evie! Still, I wonder if maybe the author could do a spin-off with more of the villagers, especially with the little bit of a possible romance we see Evie trying to set up at the end.
MUCH ADO ABOUT YOU by Samantha Young is a contemporary, adult, romance story line focusing on twenty-six year old English rancher Roane Robson, and thirty-three year old American editor Evangeline ‘Evie’ Starling.
Told from first person perspective (Evie) MUCH ADO ABOUT YOU follows thirty-three year old Evangeline Starling in the wake of another failed attempt at dating, and losing a promotion to someone younger. When the opportunity to spend a few weeks in England surfaces, Evie jumps at the opportunity to take over the management of a small-town English bookstore. Enter rancher Roane Robson, the man with whom Evie will fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Evie and Roane, and the potential fall-out as Evie feels betrayed by lies of omission.
Evie Starling has a few rules when it comes to dating, and a few weeks in England finds Evie struggling between head and heart. Never expecting to find love on another continent, Evie quickly succumbs to Roane’s good looks and smooth attempts at seduction and love.Roane Robson owns and works a large ranch on the English countryside but finds himself pulled into the aura that is our story line heroine. Evie quickly becomes the town sweetheart as she works to push lovers together in the midst of her own life falling apart.
The relationship between Roane and Evie is one of immediate attraction but Evie has made a promise to herself not to get involved with another man but Roane has fallen quickly for our story line heroine, and in this Evie finds herself falling for Roane in return. The $ex scenes are passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
The colorful and captivating secondary and supporting characters include many of the townsfolk that come in and out of our heroine’s life.
MUCH ADO ABOUT YOU is a wonderfully fun and romantic story line. The premise is entertaining and delightful; the romance is flirtatious; the characters are animated and spirited.
In a small and ethereal countryside setting, this story will give you hope for a romance that is written in the stars.
After a bad break up and trying to sort out some parts of her life, Evie takes the opportunity to rent and run out the bookshop that later on will change her life and mind forever.
While it looks like an instant love and all the insecurities and emotions were out on the page, I couldn’t put my finger on some parts of the story. Maybe because everything happened so quickly and in a span of the time, next thing you know they are both in love and she decided to change her life like 180 degrees.
Overall it’s a great romance that many lovers of the genre will enjoy
Young’s words had me engaged once again. Her descriptions and characters had me addicted to this friends to lovers romance. The idea of traveling to a new destination and falling in love with the town and everything there is my kind of story. Who doesn’t want to pick up and create a new adventure? I totally ship Evie and Roane. Their story was charming and sweet. A must read romance for 2021.
Evie is 33. She has been passed over for a promotion at work, her dating life is in shambles and her best friend’s having a baby. She feels lonely and needs a change, she needs to find herself, so she finds a place in a quiet English village to rent. As a matter of fact, it comes with a whole bookstore to run. It sounds like the perfect getaway. While she is there, she decides she will focus on herself, no men allowed on this trip, but this plan is blown out of the water on the first day she is there.
Evie can’t help but save a dog who is about to be hit by a car, throwing herself in harms way. His owner is forever grateful and instantly takes to Evie. Roane likes Evie the moment he meets her, she did save his dog after all. Roane never usually likes outsiders, their little town is a close knit family, but Evie really gets under his skin, in the best way.
This book is what I would classify as a slow burn insta-love, and I know that doesn’t even make sense but just go with me. The characters are instantly attracted to one another, but with Evie taking a break from men, Roane is determined to still be around her, even as a friend. Of course it turns into more because who can resist his charm?
This book had everything that I thought I wanted in a book, and I was looking forward to it so much. I am not sure where it went wrong for me, but it was very very lighthearted. Even the conflict left me feeling a little let down, I was expecting so much more feels and I got a book that was cute, but didn’t pack much of a punch for me. If you want a feel good book with little angst, this is your book. I am not sure if it was just me, and I seem to be in the minority so I would suggest you try this book if you normally love this type of trope. This was a solid 3.5 stars for me.
Thank you to Netgalley, Berkley and Samantha Young for an early copy of this book, these opinions are my own.
Evie Sterling is feeling fed up. She got stood up on a date (with who she thought was an amazing guy -turns out he was an ass) and then got passed over for a promotion at work. She decides a fresh start is just what she needs. A move to a quant English town from the hustle and bustle of Chicago sounds perfect. Perks of this getaway – getting to manage a book shop – Much Ado About Books! Evie has always loved reading and is looking forward to this trip. A four week getaway in a different country sounds like the perfect escape and chance for Evie to sort out her thoughts.
As soon as Evie arrives, she’s enveloped into the small town’s charming eccentricities. The meddling townsfolk who love to know everyone’s business, the pub where everyone frequently visits and the hot farmer who Evie can’t stop thinking about are just part of the towns charm.
Roane doesn’t do casual hook-ups with tourists, but he’s immediately intrigued by Evie. They start out friends, but slowly their relationship turns into more. Will they stand a chance if Evie is always looking at the clock ticking down to her time in England?
Much Ado About You was a charming small town romance. I enjoyed the relationship between Evie and the townsfolk as well as Evie and Roane. This was my first book by Samantha Young and I loved the way she described the small town vibe and feel of Alnster. It feels like Young was definitely setting up the premise for the possibility of a series as there were a lot of characters/side stories. I do feel that at times Evie and Roane’s story got a bit lost amongst all of the other character storylines throughout Much Ado About You.
One aspect of Much Ado About You that I enjoyed a lot was the friendships that Evie forges. Evie and her best friend Greer had the sweetest moments. I absolutely love friendships in romances and I felt so much kinship with these two. I too have a similar best friend and I would be heartbroken if she moved away. These scenes were immediately highlighted!
Overall I would rate Much Ado About You 3.5 stars.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher.
Reading this story felt like being wrapped in a big warm hand knitted cardigan, it was warm and oh so comfortable. It gave me a big book hug and left me feeling happy and sufficiently snuggled.
Evie feels like something is missing from her life. After being unlucky in love once again and then being overlooked for a job promotion she is ready for a big change. Everyone around her seems to be moving on with their lives and she feels like she is stalling. This is why she finds herself surfing the net and applying for a holiday job in rural England.
Looking after a bookstore and living above it is like a dream come true and when she arrives in Alnster, Northumberland she is quickly embraced by this cute english village. The great thing about a small village is that everyone knows each other and all the goings on, she would soon realise that it can also be the downside too 🙂
Evie quickly makes friends and enjoys being away from her everyday life. She was not expecting to meet a man like Roane Robson, a local (single) farmer who has all that sexy gruffness going on. He is like a walking wet dream and seems to enjoy flirting with her every chance he can.
‘I’ll take you anywhere you want to go, Evie.’ That’s when I discovered that there was such a thing as a word-provoked heart flutter.’
Here’s the thing though, Roane doesn’t normally flirt like that. He is not a casual dater sort of guy but there is something about Evie that tempts him in every way. Evie is so tempted. Like, so badly it drives her crazy some days. However, she knows her time in England is a short term thing and crossing a line with Roane will only lead to heartbreak for both of them. She won’t do that to a man who does not deserve it or to herself. It’s going to be hard, so hard….
‘You’re not perfect, Evie, rationally I know that.’ He let out a long sigh. ‘But you’re perfect to me.’
Then what happens is a mountain of hormones have decided an invasion of her mind and body is now necessary, after that all bets are off. There is no stopping things now! Roane is a man who carefully guards his heart, he is an all in person and he truly feels like Evie is going to be worth breaking his rules for. And OMG, Roane is so freaking sweet, rugged, sexy, thoughtful, horny, romantic, hot and simply irresistible.
‘That disconcerting feeling of thrill mixed with contentment hit me with more force than usual as I drew toward him. Sometimes it feels like we were two magnets, my south seeking his north.’
It seems that Evie has found everything she wasn’t looking for. It’s like the village of Ansler seems to have found her. She has been weaved into the fabric of this small community, making friendships that she will never forget. Leaving will be difficult but she will do so with a very full heart.
I absolutely loved this story! There are fantastic secondary characters involved in other stories playing out in the background that Evie has her finger in, a bit of meddling and matchmaking just like the plot of the famous Shakespeare novel that she loves. Once again, fabulous writing from Samantha!
I really enjoyed reading about Roane and Evie. Roane was such a sweet man. He is for sure book boyfriend material. Evie is feisty and likes to meddle sometimes. Shadow was perfect. No spoilers. This story was witty, some drama, and of course love. I can’t wait to see what’s next from the author. Happy reading! I was given advance copy for a voluntary review.
