“Mrs. Pollifax is the American cousin to Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple.”—Toronto StarNow the incredible Mrs. Pollifax has been sent on a safari to smoke out a very clever international assassin whose next target is the president of Zambia. “Just take a lot of pictures of everyone on that safari,” the CIA man told her. “One of them has to be our man.”It sounded simple enough. But it wasn’t. … simple enough. But it wasn’t. Because shortly after Mrs. Pollifax started taking pictures, someone stole her film. And right after that she was kidnapped by Rhodesian terrorists. And right after that—well, read for yourself. . .

This is one of my favourite Mrs’ Pollifax books. – Mrs Pollifax does Africa! 🙂
As usual, the CIA sends her on yet another thrilling adventure – an African safari. Her mission – photograph all the members of the safari.
Of course she does this – but then the fun begins! She is kidnapped! And she meets a ‘gentleman.’
Will Mrs. Pollifax survive? Will she find true love?
Read this thrilling book and find out!!!
Long Live Mrs. Pollifax!!!!!
I loved all the Mrs Pollifax books I’ve read. She’s indomitable, extremely unlikely, a people person and a refreshing read any time. Don’t expect gritty reality here
Africa, 1970s, historical-fiction, history-and-culture, spies, assassins, romance, abduction*****
I have probably read the print copy three times, and this is the second time on audio, all this century. Emily Pollifax is a nice widow of a certain age with two children and a couple of grandchildren. And an occasional courier assignment for the CIA. Well, this WAS set in the late 1970s. That is especially evident in this mystery set in Africa. Not that paid assassins need any timeline, of course. Its a good story of a good series and even more fun to compare the political situations to those of today. All of the characters are VERY interesting.
Narrator Barbara Rosenblatt is always great with her pleasant voice and ability to differentiate characters and emotions.
The world needs real people like the fictional Mrs. P
Mrs. Pollifax is ALWAYS a good read. Really enjoy her books.
Mrs Pollifax is always entertaining–as long as you can suspend your disbelief. Great ‘popcorn’ book.
I love the “Mrs Polifax” books. She is an older woman with so much gumption and inventiveness.
Enjoyed Mrs. Polifax books from the very first one. This is continuation of the series that introduces a love interest for Mrs.P and keeps you updated with some previous characters. Lots of fun.

Another tale of spies, humor, amazing adventures and derring-do featuring that irrepressible and formerly unexpected grandmother, Mrs. Pollifax. Forget realism, in fact forget reality, park your incredulity at the door and go along for the ride. The only fly in the ointment is that while the action and plot are expected to strain the believable in this series, I think that readers are entitled to expect accurate portrayals of the locations. Not in this book. Not only is it obvious that Dorothy Gilman knew little about Africa, it is also obvious that her research, if any, was most superficial. It is also obvious that for the political situation in Zambia and Rhodesia, she used just the prevailing fuzzy ideas of the 1970’s without looking any deeper. A great disappointment in a series which I usually enjoy.
One if the few books I’ve read from start to finish in the last year. It was enjoyable and kept me in the book from the beginning.
Great fun as usual. The plots are very similar, but they are entertaining
One of my favorite authors. Mrs. Pollifaxis an Absolutely delightful character.
Older series, great main character, senior citizen as a spy
So much fun to read.
I have liked all of the Mrs. Pollifax books. They are great readsing
Love Mrs Pollifax, always entertaining.
As a senior citizen I enjoy these highly improbable adventures of Mrs. Emily Polifax. We are after all young at heart and ready for a safari to keep life interesting. I plan to read all of these books!
Fun read!!
Wonderful light read, especially for fans of Mrs. Pollifax, even if not quite as good as some of the earlier books in the series
I stumbled upon this series by accident and fell in love with the whole series. Funny and action packed books that have you wanting more . I now own the whole series and they are read and reread often.
