Charlene Morris knew Salem, Massachusetts had a spooky reputation. But when she decided to open her B&B there, she expected guests—not ghosts… find a handsome man with startling blue eyes in her bedroom. Terror turns to utter disbelief when he politely introduces himself as Jack Strathmore—and explains that he used to live here—when he was alive. He firmly believes that someone pushed him down the stairs three years ago, and he won’t be able to leave until someone figures out who. If Charlene wants to get her business up and running in time for the Halloween tourist rush, and get this haunting houseguest out of the way, she’ll have to investigate. Though truth be told, this ghost is starting to grow on her . . .

I admire Charlene Morris. She lost the love of her life, moved away from the only family she had left, and bought a mansion in Salem to open up a B&B all on her own! She had no children, and her husband, Jared, tragically died in a car accident.
It takes so much courage and bravery to start over like that while being alone. That speaks volumes about the type of woman she is. I know if I had lost my husband, which I almost did, I would be just utterly lost. So Charlene is just someone in would be in awe of.
Jack Strathmore is just all to happy when after Charlene moves in she can actually see him. He has been stuck as a ghost in the mansion since his death three years prior.
Jack is sure his death was a murder, and he enlists the help of Charlene to help him find his killer.
The lists of suspects is really long. Charlene finds herself in the middle of finding a killer while trying to get her business up and running.
Not to mention, a cat mysteriously shows up that she has no idea what to do with.
Needless to say, Charlene’s plate is full.
I really enjoyed this book. The ending was one I never saw coming, and that’s what I love! I can’t wait to dive into book 2
Sweet story, a reiteration of the Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Girl meets ghost, girl loves ghost, ghost leaves girl unhappy. Good fluff read.,
It was very entertaining. I really enjoyed it and look forward to others in the series.
I really enjoyed this book, look forward to the next in this series.
This was an enjoyable read that kept my attention, and I never knew who did it till the end. There were some slow spots but mostly a pretty good book.
Okay … do I believe in Ghosts? No …. Would I stay in a house that had a Ghost? NO, squared! But I enjoyed this book. Go figure. It was a tasty little snack of a read, with a sweet ending. I will read more in the series, and look forward to them. I do recommend this book if you are looking for a pleasant, easy read.
I have read the first 2 books in this series. They are well written and suspenseful. Love the Salem, Massachusetts setting and the charismatic ghost and witches.
This book kept me entertained from the beginning. Kept me guessing until the end.
This book has the makings of a telenovela. There is more drama and craziness than I can even fathom. It is a little slow to start, but once it does, it takes you on quite the mysterious ride.
The main character, Charlene, is tenacious, to put it mildly. She is very determined in her quest, and she is also rather excitable (you will know what I mean after reading it). Although she’s overcoming an incredible loss, she’s still a positive and relatively upbeat character. She has a unique manner about her. I think her personality could come off as brash, but I guess that isn’t always a bad thing. She’s a strong-willed woman who has many irons in the fire, and she needs that aggressive nature at times. At times, her feelings toward the other characters, especially Jack, seem a little uneven. I feel like we didn’t really get a good sense of who Jack is, and Charlene seems to see him through rose-colored glasses, for some reason. The same with Sam’s character and how he views Charlene. I guess I didn’t feel like the characters’ feelings for each other progressed in a natural way, but that didn’t make it less enjoyable, it’s just more of an observation.
The storyline provides a unique take on the “love triangle” that persists throughout the book. I also enjoyed the plot twists and the overall outcome of the book. Not to give anything away, but the mystery behind the murder is very intriguing and not at all predictable.
Overall, if you’re looking for a book that is a little out there with ghosts, murder, secrets, lies, deceit, and potential love, then this book is for you.
I don’t usually read books with paranormal in them, but the title reminded me of the old Ghost and Mrs. Muir TV show. I’m glad I tried it even though it was a lot different than the show. The characters were interesting. I love B&B’s. I’m interested to see what the next book will be like.
I really enjoy a book that you pick up not knowing the Author and immediately get drawn in to the story. I have always been partial to stories with B&B owners in it. Charlene has just bought a beautiful historic Mansion and is preparing to start a new chapter of her life after losing her husband. She is wanting to have it ready for guests by Halloween , but she already has one , Jack a previous owner and ghost who is unable to move on. Charlene is determined to help him anyway she can before she opens for business. I really enjoyed the connection between these two characters , hoping for more in the next book of the series .
I really enjoyed this cozy mystery. This is the first book that I have read by Traci Wilton, and I look forward to future titles.
Charlene Morris sets out to Salem to start a new life after the passing of her husband. She invests everything she has and then some into an old Victorian house set on turning it into a B&B. The house is beautiful, but the Realtor failed to mention that the house is haunted!
Determined to find out who murdered her friendly ghost, Jack Strathmore, with the intention of setting him free. But, as she begins to dig into the past to find out what happened, Charlene begins to wish that Jack could stay.
I really loved this book…the first in a series. Charlene’s husband passes away and she decides to move to Salem (yes, THAT Salem) and purchase an old mansion to redo and make into a bed and breakfast. On her first night there, she is awakened by the ghost of the previous owner, Jack. She finds out that Jack died under suspicious circumstances and he will not leave her alone until she helps find out what really caused his death.
Jack actually begins to grow on Charlene. This story is humorous and mysterious. There is a love connection between Charlene and a man she meets in town. She knows, though, that in order to keep Jack from appearing to her (only she can see him) and causing her grief about the new man in her life and taking time away from her getting the B&B ready for Halloween, she will have to solve the mystery of Jack’s death. I highly recommend this book!
Our Gem this evening is by Gem Maker Traci Wilson, the first in her new series. It has a New England bent, as good Ghost Stories should this time of year. Look at it..deep purple in color, with streaks of moonlight gold and green the color of a cats eyes.
Mrs. Morris and The Ghost is a delightfully cozy mystery, just right for starting our lovely month of October. Our heroine, Charlene is a young, newly widowed Chicagoan. She desperately needs a change. Her heart is broken. She has lost her soul mate. What does she do? She buys an 8,000 square foot estate in, of all places, Salem, Massachusetts. She is going to make it into a Bed and Breakfast. Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it? Just the sort of project to take a young woman’s mind off her troubles. And best of all, the price was practically a steal! But she soon learns that even bargains come with a price. The house is not exactly empty. It comes with a cat and…a little something extra…
Charlene soon settles in and begins remodeling, meeting all the lovely folks one meets in a small town. But in the house, she meets Jack, the former owner..well his ghost. Yes, my bookish ones! This is a Ghost Story! And he tells her that he cannot head into the Great Beyond until he figures out who killed him by pushing him down the stairs three years ago. Soon Charlene is on the job, trying to help find his killer, so she can have a killer Bn’B sans Jackie Boy..but as time goes by, he grows on her. Does she really want him to go? And does he really want to go?
I loved this book. It has refreshing twists and turns. The characters are very likable, no whining or angst, just real emotion and conversations (well as real as they can be when speaking with a ghost). I wanted Charlene and Jack to succeed and yet, I wasn’t so sure I wanted Jack to go either. The best part about this book is Ms. Wilton has a second one in the series coming out in April of 2020 – Mrs. Morris and The Witch! This reads fine as a stand alone, no cliffhangers here. It’s just that I really grew to like Charlene Morris and I want to sit down with a pot of my favorite Irish Breakfast and some good home made butter cookies and visit again, I’m sure you will, too! Loved the story. Was a great read
Mrs. Morris and the Ghost by Traci Wilton, this was my first book from this author and I have to say that i enjoyed it immensely. I am not a huge fan of cozy mysteries but I will say that I did enjoy this one. What would a B & B in Salem be without its own personal ghost, when Charlene wakes up to find Jack standing there who could have imagined the journey she was about to undertake. This book had just the right amount of mystery to make it enjoyable and it was also able to make me laugh. I would certainly recommend this cute read to those that enjoy cozy mysteries.
Linda’s Book Obsession Reviews “Mrs. Morris and the Ghost” by Traci Wilton
Traci Wilton, Author/s of “Mrs. Morris and the Ghost” has/have written a delightful, charming, cozy mystery and entertaining novel. The Genres for this novel are Cozy Mystery, Fiction, Mystery and Suspense, and Para-Normal. The story takes place in New England, in a historic older house. The author describes her characters as complex, complicated, quirky, spooky, and suspect. The cat in the story has a unique personality. The timeline is in the present and goes to the past when it pertains to the characters or events.
Charlene Morris is a young widow who moves from Chicago for a new start in New England. She hopes to make the large house she has bought into a Bed and Breakfast. In order to make it possible, Charlene has found local residents that can help her fix up the mansion, and attend to the many needs she has. In the quaint town, she finds that everything seems to center on the importance of a person based on his or her family roots. Charlene is also shocked to find that her house has some unusual surprises.
One is a handsome ghost, Dr. Jack Strathmore that has been part of the house since his death for three years. He is not sure what happened, but to move on, there must be some unfinished business, or possibly he was murdered. Charlene seems to be the only one who can see his presence. Charlene is ambivalent if she wants Jack to stay or go, and the only way that can happen is to solve the mystery of what happened to him. The only one that can help Jack do that is Charlene.
The characters that Charlene meet all seem capable or suspect of murder. There are twists and turns, danger, wit, and murder. I would highly recommend this entertaining, mesmerizing and enchanting novel.
Wow! This book has all the perfect feels of a cozy murder mystery with a touch of romance and a ghost! I fell in love with this book and its main character Charlene and Jack the ghost! i read this book in a sitting! The author did a fablous job on keeping the mystery alive right to the end! When Charleneneeds to escape the loss of her husband, she packs upeverything including her life savings and moves into a large home she is planning on turning into a bed and breaskfast. Everything about the house is perfect, except she immediatly finds herself face to face with a real ghost! That ghost is the previous owner Jack. After she has no choice but to belive what shes seeing is real, she agrees to help Jack find out how he really died in exhange for him not scaring new guests and moving on to the other side aftershe does this for him. Charlene finds herself enjoying Jacks company as well as the stray cat that shows up at her door. She also begins to meet new friends who also know Jack when he was alive. Perfect start to my fall!!
Traci Wilton has provided a new series focused around a mansion, a young woman escaping a bad situation, a ghost, and a mystery cat. Charlene Morris has moved from Chicago to Salem, Massachusetts with hopes of converting an old mansion into a bed and breakfast. Little did she know that the mansion came with a ghost, Jack. When I started reading the book, it had a feel like the old television show, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, but this book contained a mystery of who killed Jack and why. Charlene works towards transforming the old mansion into a bed and breakfast while attempting to help Jack solve who killed him. Along the way she is adopted by a mystery cat who has decided Charlene should be it’s owner. I enjoyed the story’s plot and even the touch of a romance entwined within it. The characters were believable and well developed. Hopefully the second book will be out soon.
Mrs. Morris and the Ghost grabs you right from the first page and will leave you in shock when you find out who done it just before the end.
Charlene moved into a home full of surprises. One surprise is the resident hot ghost of course, and the second surprise, she finds a new cat, which Charlene is not a total cat lover so this becomes interesting as she tries to solve a murder to get the ghost out and deal with a cat she doesn’t want.
The only downside to the story for me was it seemed like every man and ghost was hot after Charlene so by the middle of the story, it was on my last nerve. Other than that this is a good read that will leave you wanting more.
