I love this series. It is simple and fun and provides hours of entertainment. I felt Mrs. Jeffries’ character gained greater layers of depth in this book. I also enjoyed how some of the secondary characters stepped up and played a larger role in the book. Two big thumbs up!
The characters are the best. Love the mysteries.
Always like the Emily Brightwell books. Characters are engaging and believable. The books read quickly and you just don’t want to put them down. While I usually prefer a more history-intense mystery, these are a wonderful light enchanting stories.
A charming Victorian cozy with engaging and entertaining characters.
Unique approach, liked the idwa
I always enjoy the Mrs Jeffries mysteries
I like this whole series. Fun characters, lots of clues and twists.
A little confusing.
Interesting story in Victorian England.
Love Mrs Jeffries books!
I enjoyed it. Different than a lot I’ve read lately
This is a delightful who-donnit in the series. It is enjoyable light reading. A good cozy mystery series.
I enjoy reading books set in the United Kingdom. This was a cute easy to read book but the characters were not that special.
I have read several of the Mrs. Jeffries books and love them! I love her characters and their interactions.
I like the mrs Jeffries series.
This is an entertaining mystery. I have read a number of Mrs Jeffries books and always enjoy them. The main characters are always the same but never too well defined. For example, at best what we know about Mrs. Jeffries is that she is a widow employed as a housekeeper for an inspector. She likes museums and Egyptian history. She likes her brandy or sherry and she has very good deductive powers. The stories take place in London in the 19th century before any of the modern technology for catching culprits were available. This means that the detectives tasked with the solving of a crime have to rely on motive, means, alibis, etc. to solve the crimes committed. These are good, imaginative, wholesome stories. I recommend this book.
I love these characters. Hope to see more by this author offered soon.
I have read four or five books in the Mrs. Jeffries series and found them entertaining. The likable cast of characters, which evolves and changes a bit as necessary, are what make me read the books–when I can get them from Kindle Unlimited or for .99. The quality of the plots varies from good to soso, which is not surprising when you see how many books this author has had to write with no variation in setting, time or main characters. That must be a constant challenge. This story, however, felt forced, and there was not a sympathetic character among the suspects. In fact, several of them were over-the-top obnoxious, with no redeeming qualities. There should be at least one person who we hope didn’t do it, so the reader can sustain some interest in the denouement. Even the familiar protagonists are not at their best, with a lot of whining and not even half-hearted effort at detection. I wanted to kick them in the fanny and say “grow up!” Spoiler Alert! The killer had a good enough aim to get three shots into the victim’s heart in the beginning of the book, but at the end was shooting all over the place without hitting anything. Silly mistake.
The Mrs. Jeffries mysteries never fail to entertain and keep me guessing. I look forward to every new book in the series and feel like I have visited friends. “Mrs. Jeffries and the Three Wise Women” was a great read.
I love this series and have probably read all that have been published, some twice.
