Mr. Vega was written by USA Today Bestselling & Multi-Award Winning Author Xyla TurnerMr. VegaI didn’t want this woman to be my nanny. She had no experience and a failed art career. What did she know about rearing children? She was my late wife’s choice and I didn’t too much care for the woman and she didn’t care for me either.Until all hell broke loose and the nanny was the only one my son … broke loose and the nanny was the only one my son could turn to. The only one we could rely on. She kept us going and then she wanted to leave too.
Not a damn chance.
Faith
There could never be anything between me and Mr. Vega. He was the father of the boy in my charge. I was his nanny. Nothing more and nothing less.
The lines needed to be clear between him and me, but a nagging feeling told me, he would keep them blurred.

One of my favorite Xyla Turner books.
I actually enjoyed this story. It was a slow burn and I liked the fact that the main couple didn’t get together until 2 years after the main character’s wife’s death.
Gail Vega hires an inexperienced Nanny by the name of Faith. Logan Vega was against this decision because he thought of Faith as a failed artist who lacks the experience necessary to help raise and take care of their 5 year old son. Little did they know Gail was working on a Masterplan.
After a few months of working with the Vega Tribe; Faith began to notice changes in Gail. When she would ask Gail about it; Gail just brushed it off as nothing. Gail was dying and she had a plan in motion to ensure that her son Casey and husband Logan were well taken care of.
Unbeknownst to Logan and Faith; Gail had already found the woman she knew would love her son and husband the way she did. This information was not known to anyone but Casey. During Gail’s last days of life she explains to Casey that he and his father will be alright and well taken care of by Ms. Jacobs (Faith); after all that’s why she hired her.
It took some time. Alot if grieving, counseling, self reflection but eventually Logan and Faith were able to come together. It took Faith a little longer to come around because she felt like she was betraying Gail whom she loved.
Once Casey confided in his father what his mother told him, Logan understood that Gail was giving him her blessings to be with Faith. The biggest obstacle Logan faced was getting Faith onboard and admitting her feelings for him.
Casey was a sweetheart. He had a task to complete but couldn’t do it until Logan and Faith got their act together. When the couple finally, Finally reached their HEA; Casey presented them with a letter he received from his mother Gail right before she passed away (years ago). The letter was to be given to his father (Logan) after me proposed to Faith and in the letter both Logan and Faith see that Gail already gave her blessings because Faith was who she picked out to take care of her Vega men.

STORY:
This was very emotional. I like the way the author took you on a journey with the characters and when they hurt you hurt. The first half of the book reminds me of the movie Beaches and that movie is a tear jerker. There were a lot of hot and cold moments between the characters. Mr. Vega gave me whip lash, however, his stages of grief were the cause at times except the beginning of the story, he was just rude to be rude. Faith, mmm, liked her but the things that came out her mouth. A few things/comments had my brows lifted with a side eye at the author. However, I do have to remember these are fictional characters
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
Their chemistry was a slow burn it wasn’t bad, but still likable.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
I really enjoyed the relationship between Casey and Faith. Casey is Logan’s son. I also enjoyed Casey as well and what his character brought to the story.
OVERALL:
Emotional read, frustrating as well, but still likable.
TRIGGERS: emotional trigger with death and dealing with lost.
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
Relevant, you can’t stop reading
This is my first book by Xyla Turner. The cover intrigued me, but what really pulled me to pick it up and read it was a snippet I read on Facebook about a Super Mario haircut.
That being said, I really should spend more time reading the synopsis because I feel like I let myself down on this one. Maybe I deserve the 3 star rating and not the book. Not sure.
Mr. Vega’s wife is dead (not a spoiler, it’s in the synopsis). Is this an issue? Yes and No.
If she was already gone when the story started, my view might be a little different. I’m not sure. I’m just really conflicted.
I feel the need to explain myself. I have a personal bias. A “til death do us part” issue.
I know myself. I am a selfish person. I am a petty person. I have a jealous streak that makes me greener than Kermit the Frog. I am not noble. And I very well may have abandonment issues.
Therefore, if I happen to die before my husband, I am not going to grant him permission to love again or screw again or anything again. And I’m definitely not gonna spew some BS about him deserving happiness after I’m gone. When I go, he should spend the rest of his life taking care of our kids and pining away in despair for me.
Needless to say, I felt some MAJOR betrayal, that the dead wife obviously did not.
I tried to get past this. I really, really did.
If you take that part away, I liked the story. It was good. No over the top crazy. Just two people falling in love and trying to figure it out. I like Logan and I like Faith. And I feel like if their circumstances were a little bit different, I would’ve enjoyed this more.
It’s MY issue. Not the book’s issue.
But because of MY issue, I had so much inner turmoil while reading this.
If you remove my bias, 4 Stars.
And the only reason for that is because there were a lot of editing errors that really distracted me and some of the dialogue seemed out of place.
You know, I’m kind of mad at myself right now because I’m wondering if other people are really that noble about their spouses when they die. I just can’t process it. In my mind saying “He/She would want you to be happy and move on” is just what people tell you to make you feel better about what you’re doing.
If you are a better human than I am, then you should definitely give this a try. But if you’re petty and jealous and a little psycho, like me, approach with caution.
