He was gorgeous, older, and had the worst reputation in all of England. The way he looked at me sent shivers down my spine. Our first meeting was at a wedding, where he followed me outside and kissed me.Our second meeting ended in a huge fight with me kicking him out.Our third meeting, I went on a double, blind date. You can imagine my surprise when I saw familiar blue eyes across the table opposite … blue eyes across the table opposite my friend.
Oh….no….
He was sarcastic and witty and damn,
If he wasn’t the sexiest bastard I ever laid eyes on.
Then he sent me an email listing thirty reasons
why I should go on a date with him.
I was expecting a suave and intelligent list.
Curious, I read on.
Reason 1 – I have white teeth
Reason 2 – I love my grandma
Reason 3 – I have a size 13 shoe – you do the math.
The man’s a fool, his list was some of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever read.
And the funniest.
We laughed hard…and loved harder.
You can outrun everything……except your past.
And his has caught up.
Wild handsome players don’t fall for innocent girls like me,
Or do they?

A really great story. The dynamic between the two characters was perfect. Loved Spence. I laughed and cried and was left smiling. It was amazing.
It’s hard not to stare at the cover but then when you begin reading the story, you can’t help but love Spencer. He’s a goofy and seductive charmer who could sell ice to an eskimo. Charlotte is a sweet, innocent young lady who gets swept up in his oh so charming ways. And no one could blame her.
*”Imagine it’s me who’s doing it. My open lips are on your neck.”
My head falls back.
“Talk to me,” he whispers through ragged breaths. “I want to hear your voice when you’re aroused.”*
But can this playboy change his ways? I think they are a good match. Charlotte makes Spencer believe in things that he didn’t think he would ever want. And Spencer helps Charlotte discover who she is without her family’s influence. I have to say, Spencer and Charlotte do not have it easy. Between over-protective brothers, ex-girlfriends and lingering doubt, the odds are not in their favour. Sometimes I want to smack them both for being so silly in their thinking and not talking it out. But then we are sucker punched with a bombshell that had me gobsmacked.
The story is action packed with lots of laugh out moments, steamy romance, and angst filled tension. It’s a good idea to read Mr. Masters before this book but it’s not necessary. But I do recommend it because it was also a fantastic book and there is character overlap. We get to see Mr. Masters again here which is brilliant. Not to mention Seb and Bree. There are new characters which are an absolute riot as well. This was a great story which highlights how you shouldn’t believe everything you hear and love between two people should always have trust.
You can guarantee the heat factor when it comes to TL Swan’s books. Just like Dr. Stanton and Gym Junkie I was hooked from the first page. Oh how I love those cocky, dirty talking alpha males. His sense of humor is icing on the cake. A dangerous combination for any woman. He’s known to be a player with the ladies. When his eyes land on Charlotte everything changes except she’s off limits. He’s never felt this way about any woman and he’s determined to have her.
“I can’t get close enough to you,” he whispers. I can’t get enough of you. Do you know how long I’ve waited to feel like this?”
I’ve read a few books by this author & some of those characters make an appearance here.
Mr Spencer is the older guy, younger woman trobe. Spencer reminds me of Jesse from This Man & Charlotte as Ava. Both men were older with a ton of experience & the girls young & innocent relentlessly pursued by their man. I’m not saying it’s the same because it’s totally different overall.
Even though this couple is a very unlikely one when that arrow hits it sure leaves it’s mark.
Mr. Spencer is the second book by T.L. Swan that I have read and it was another 5 star. After finishing Mr. Masters I couldn’t wait to read another book by this author so imagine my excitement when I found out this book was coming soon. I will admit to being a little nervous about Spencer’s book because of his past numerous partners. So please be advised that if an H with an extensive list of past partners bothers you, you may not enjoy this one. I personally loved it from beginning to end. Spencer and Charlotte were awesome together. Spencer was charming, funny and filthy. He is older than Charlotte but honestly most of the time he seems younger. He enjoys life to the fullest and never takes himself to seriously. What I loved most about him is when he needs to be serious he doesn’t shy away from responsibility. Watching him fall in love and put his heart totally into Charlotte was my favorite. Although he has gone through many woman, he isn’t a cheater and did everything in his power to make Charlotte happy. Charlotte was sweet and innocent but not naïve. Due to her family and her wealth she is protected but she longs to be normal and have a normal life. Spencer brings her so much happiness and I loved watching her blossom with him. Of course life isn’t easy and when you have slept your way through the phone book its bound to come back and ruin it all. I loved their HEA and I can’t wait for Sebastian’s book.
Holy crap this was a good one! I loved EVERYTHING about Spencer and Charlotte! They were WORLDS different, but that made them so much more perfect. It was almost as if they were exactly what each other needed. Spencer needed someone who was inexperienced and could go toe-to-toe with him. Charlotte needed a man slut who know what they were doing and someone who would stand up for her.
Spencer being a man whore was HYSTERICAL. I loved how everyone told him that there was NO WAY Charlotte would happen. Of course, that always drives men to try, and oh boy did he! He was so darn persistent and Charlotte was really good at saying now. I loved their cat and mouse game. It was so sexy and at the same time, absolutely hysterical. These two couldn’t be more perfect for each other.
Spencer’s friends Sebastian, Julian and Bree made it even better! These three were just such an important part of this book. They were complete instigators and really were the driving force in Spencer believing in himself. At the same time, Charlotte’s friend Beth was the same way! Between Beth, Wyatt, Anthony and Spencer’s trio, secondary character development was ON POINT! I’m always a huge advocate for secondary characters, and man did these guys really take the cake.
As for the relationship and it’s unsteadiness, this was so great! Insta-love is a new thing i’m subscribing to and I love how Spence and Lottie went about it. These two were just struck stupid with insta-love. It was just so perfect. Basically the book was perfect. Ever since I had read the blurb on my blog I HAD TO READ THIS. It did NOT disappoint! It lived up to everything I’d hoped it would be. Go read it!!
Charlotte see Spencer and knows there is an instant attraction, but he’s player and everyone warns her away. Deciding that she wants to get out from her over protective family, while their away she gets a job under a fake name, she never expected to see Spencer again but he’s persistent.
Spencer knows he’s never wanted a relationship but something about Charlotte makes him want to keep seeing her, he certainly doesn’t like the jealously he feels when he sees her with someone else. Although he’s never had a girlfriend, he does have an arrangement with a friend who doesn’t like the fact that he tells her it’s over and he wants to see where it goes with Charlotte.
Charlotte knows that everything about Spencer warns her away, but she’s determined to move on from his past and see where things go, she knows there is no way her family is going to accept him.
Spencer knows he wants Charlotte, but he knows that there has to be a reason why she’s surrounded by security, and protected, which he’s determined to find out.
Charlotte is determined that Spencer is more important than her family and they are going to be together no matter what her family says.
What happens when they find out things that can ruin them, and they didn’t know, can they find their way back to each.
Mr. Spencer was an entertaining read full of witty banter, engaging characters and tons of feels. Spencer and Charlotte are a rather unlikely couple yet I couldn’t help but want to see them together. Charlotte’s sweetness and innocence was the complete opposite of Spencer’s unrepentant playboy ways and made for a bit of push and pull between them. Together these two took me through some frustrating lows and ecstatic highs that brought a huge smile to my face. There were a few maddening times when I felt the story dragged on a bit more longer than necessary. The secondary characters were amazing and I enjoyed how they revealed so much more of both Charlotte and Spencer’s true nature. Mr. Spencer was a funny, romantic, and charming read that has me hoping this isn’t the last I’ve seen of the Prescott siblings.
This review is going to be a little weird as you can see that I did not give it any stars because I couldn’t. Let me explain myself here. I liked the book but at the same time I hated the book and was really pissed off by some of the things that happened in the book. I am not one to judge but DAMN this just went above and beyond with the characters and I just could not believe what I was reading. I liked some of it but then as some things were unfolding I just couldn’t read it and I put the book down a few times almost giving up but I told myself no I am going to read it and get through it then review it from there.
Spencer oh lord Spencer he made me want to jump through my kindle and kick his arse like I have never beat someone in my life. He was WAY beyond a man whore and he was just down right a pig of a man. If a guy like that came near my daughter I would get MEDEA on his arse in a minute and show him my piece and tell to to get to stepping before he knows what true pain is and that is being nice as this is a public review and family friendly website.
Then Charlotte lord have mercy I felt bad for her because she lives a sheltered life and her brother was very over protective of her and she never got to experience normal things like boys and their behaviors because he scared them away and her bodyguard shiz I would run for the hills if I was a guy to but there was a reason for that and I can understand that because my daughter poor her has three brothers and they are all crazy in the head and when she starts dating lord help that boy because he has to get through her brothers then my husband.
Plus Spencer did something to Charlotte’s brother that had my heckles up and ready to kick some serious arse but hey it is a book but it brought the ugly out of me so I can’t rate it but I will say this I loved to hate it!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
He was gorgeous, older and had the worst reputation in all of England. The way he looked at me sent shivers down my spine. Then he sent me an email listng thrity reasons why I should go on a date with im. I was execting a suave and intelligen list. Curious, I read on. Reason 1-I have white teeth. Reason 2- I love my grandma. Reason 3- I have a size 13 shoe-you do the math. The man’s a fool. His list was some of the most ridiculious things I”ve ever read and the funniest. Oh how I needed to giggle and Spencer made me do just that. He is a millionaire wo owns his own steel company. He is one of the most eligible bachelors in all of London and all the women want him. Besides being loaded hs is sweet and funny and beneath it all is a man who really cares. He meets his match in Charlotte. She is quirky but shy and they bring out sides in each other that people do not often see. To say he is attracted to Charlotte from the get go is a understatement. Don’t try to figure out why, just go with it. This book is just steamy and funny and the prefect blend of everything to spend the day with Spencer and Charlotte and forgetting your cares. T.L. Swan has written and romantically funny book that will have your thanking her for writing the book and for the time you got to spend with these characters.
Lady Charlotte Prescott’s life is closely guarded with the death of her mom and the weakness of her brother and father. She is a lawyer for the Philanthropic Society and wants to help people with less than her. When her brother, Edward, and father head to the US for business, Charlotte knows these 6 weeks can be the key to her freedom.
Spencer Jones is probably known as the biggest womanizer in all of England. He stays as far away from relationships as possible and there are pictures all over the media of him with various women, most no more than one time.
Yet there is something about Charlotte that catches Spencer’s attention but is she too good for him? Is Charlotte willing to get her heart broken for a chance with England’s most notorious bachelor?
This was such a great book filled with laughs and a few issues we can all relate to.
I loved Charlotte and my heart broke for what she went through being an almost prisoner in her home due to the thought of something happening to her by her brother and dad. She was so smart and educated and really want to experience life on her own terms and see how “others” lived. I definitely gave her credit for getting a job and seeing life from a different angle.
Spencer was such a great character that was awesome to read about from start to finish. I loved his bad reputation and how he just never found a woman who could keep him interested, except for Sheridan. Surprisingly he did have certain morals which we saw when he was with Charlotte at the beginning.
The chemistry between Charlotte and Spencer was apparent right from the beginning but it wasn’t easy for the two of them with some major obstacles in their way. The two had some pretty epic fights that you were never 100% sure who would come out on top.
Towards the end the twist was huge and there were so many implications and things that happened because of it. I was definitely shocked at who came to Spencer’s defense and how everything panned out!
The very end was so good and I was very happy for how it all went down!
There are very few authors I put on my 1 click list but TL Swan is at the top. You never disappoint TL. Yes you could say this is the classic tale of older hottie sweeping young and innocent off her feet, but you would be wrong. It’s so much more – fun, romantic, infuriating, and so sexy! Lady Charlotte is darling and who knew she is a dirty girl just just waiting to be unleashed. Spencer your alpha male personality drove me nuts in all the right ways. I really loved this story and couldn’t put it down. Another must read by TL Swan.
Ok so I was instantly loving Spencer. He’s the type of guy that you just can’t help but love. He has the charm and self confidence that makes him irrestible to women. He sees Charlotte and instantly he sees a challenge. He freaks out a lot with her but its understandable when he’s never been in a relationship. I feel like things move fast for these two and as much as i hate to say it, I agree with her dad. Charlotte is innocent. She’s sheltered so much. Never had a boyfriend and never really out without her family or bodyguards. The family has a reason for it. Charlotte, I had issues with. She falls for Spencer hard. Like she wants nobody else but him. She’s headstrong and determined. The problem i had was, i just thought she moved very fast without really thinking about it beforehand. Her family wasn’t thrilled and I have to agree with them. She needs to blossom out more before she settles. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Spencer but he has some growing up to do. This book was good and I liked it but i wanted a stronger female character that thinks for herself and not a guy.
WOW!!!!! What an AWSOME story this was. I was hooked from the first page read to the last one. It was a somewhat a forbidden love story. He was older and Charlotte was off limits. He never got to close enough to any women to get attached to them, until her.
This was an addicting story that consumed me. I was in love with these amazing characters, they were funny, lighthearted and down to earth. An amazing storyline that had me hooked.
I haven’t read the other stories from some of the characters that were playing a certain role in this one. I will rectify that soon. It can safely be read as a standalone. Told in a dual POV with a kick ass HEA. I strongly recommend this story.
I absolutely loved Mr Spencer by TL Swan. TL Swan always manages to captivate and impress me with her story telling abilities. Spencer Jones and Charlotte Prescott have won my heart with their beautiful story. Mr Spencer is another fantastic story full of passion, humor, and hot chemistry.
Spencer is a wealthy, playboy with no intention of settling down. He meets Charlotte at a wedding and decides he must have her. Charlotte is innocent but far from stupid. She knows of Spencer’s playboy reputation. The story had a good bit of silliness from Spencer and some heartbreak in spaces. Overall I liked this story and would recommend it.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving a review.
This was my first by TL Swan, and what a book to start with!! This was a wonderful read for me, full of love, passion, drama, fun and laughter and with some very bad lows also – this book brought out a whole range of emotions whilst reading it!! This story is all about meeting that one person that is right for you and how your life changes after meeting said person, about wanting what you didn’t know was missing in your life, about love and how it changes you, and about your past that no matter what happens it is bound to catch up with you sooner or later!!
Spencer Jones is 37 and has been a playboy his whole life, well known for having a different woman on his arm every day, his reputation literally preceeds him. His best friends are settling down and having children but that’s not the life for him, that is until he meets Charlotte.
Charlotte Prescott is the daughter of a very wealthy and famous family, but is literally wrapped in bubble wrap and protected from everything by her father and brothers, she can’t go anywhere or do anything without her own personal security. She wants nothing else but to experience what a normal life looks like.
When Charlotte and Spencer first meet he sees her as a challenge that he must get to know, she sees him for what he is, but cannot believe the feelings he provokes in her, still she rebutts him at all costs knowing her family would never approve of such a man.
Spencer persues her and begins to realise he wants no one but her and can’t see past her, falling hard and fast. Charlotte has never felt so loved or free as what she does when she is with Spencer, the things they do together she would never have dreamed of!! But Spencer’s past catches up with him in a nasty way and sends their relationship spiralling out of control.
This was a brilliant read for me, very addictive!! I loved Spencer, even with all his flaws. It was wonderful to see them change as their relationship progressed, watching Charlotte come out of her shell and become a woman was brilliant!
When Spencer’s past eventually catches up with him it is a real sucker punch in guts, I really felt it, the pain and the hurt for both of them – like I said this book really brings out all your emotions! I will certainly be reading more from TL Swan.
Spencer is the hottest of men with a litany of women in his past
This is the first book I have read from TL Swan, and although it was a review read, I absolutely had to grab my own copy. It is a stand-a-lone, but Mr and Mrs Masters feature strongly, as does his close friends, so you can guarantee that I’m off to one-click their book after finishing this review!
It is impossible not to love a man who loves and respects his family and friends as much as Spencer Jones does, and even though he has his own reason to think he’s unsuitable partner and father material, he truly does unconsciously tick all the boxes.
Charlotte Prescott is the over-protected jewel in her family’s crown and has been since the untimely death of her mother over 5 years earlier. Her wishes are dis-regarded, and she conforms because she loves her family. But one glance and one encounter at a charity ball changes everything for her.
The chemistry between them is so strong you could chew on it, and Spencer has never had to work so hard to gain the attentions of a woman. His smooth moves have deserted him, and he doesn’t like it. Even though at 24, Charlotte is naive in the way of men, and feels that she lacks any kind of internal strength, she knows just how she doesn’t want to be treated by this man with the worst of reputations! While he is fighting for her attention, he also fought her family for the respect that he believed she deserved. *Sigh*, how can you not love this man.
I loved the witty interactions between Spencer and his friends as well as the enthusiastic friendship they offered freely to Charlotte even as her own family were rejecting her choices. They both flourished in the steamiest way possible, but when the worst mistake of his Manwh0re past collided with the prejudices of his future’s family, Charlotte doubted her ability to overcome the situation and their judgement upon him, and I was absolutely heartbroken for him.
I unreservedly recommend Mr. Spencer as a 5 Star read, and think the best time to go one-click is now!
Super sexy and hot with a good dose of angst! There is a small age gap in this story. Spencer Jones is a super sexy, sarcastic, witty, alphahole with a dirty mouth who gets around. There were times he was infuriating and I wanted to throat punch him, and other times I adored him. Lady Charlotte Prescott is a young, inexperienced, a billionaire, and a virgin who lives a reclusive life. Even though she is inexperienced, she is not willing to settle for just anyone. She hasn’t found anyone who has captured her interest until she meets Spencer at a wedding where he kisses her. She refuses his advancements and tells him he was too forward, but she can’t stop thinking about that kiss! Will Charlotte be able to let her guard down long enough to give him a chance? Can she get him to change his womanizing ways?
I enjoyed this book. The sexy scenes were super hot! I loved the angst and chemistry between the characters. One of the secondary characters named Beth was awesome! She was exactly what a best friend should be to Charlotte and added a lot to the book. She was honest, funny, and refreshing. I hope to see her in a book of her own! There were a few aspects of this book I didn’t love (i.e. the way Spencer talked to Charlotte a time or two and Charlotte’s insecurity) but it wasn’t enough to make me not want to read the book. I understood that Charlotte was sheltered and at times immature due to her circumstances. This book does have an HEA.
****ARC generously provided in exchange for an honest review.****
Mr. Spencer was such a great book. It has a bit of everything. It is funny, interesting, and a definite page-turner. When I reached the last page I was sad that it was over.
I truly thought that Spencer was going to be the playboy type based on his actions. The way he went about things had me laughing at times. And he is super sexy. Then there is Charlotte. I loved her. She is inexperienced, sweet, and surrounded by her overprotective family, who happens to consist of all men. The way Spencer and Charlotte kept crossing paths had me curious.
I would recommend this book to anyone. It is funny, heart warming, and just all around good! If I could, I would give it more than 5 stars.
