“I’m face-down in forty glorious inches of well-endowed cake, seriously reassessing my life choices, when suddenly I hear it. The voice that launched a thousand teenage boy-band dreams. My #1 crush, Drew Delaney himself.”Ten years ago, Drew was boy-band royalty: the subject of a million teenage fantasies – and the guy next door. He was so far out of my league, I couldn’t see him for stars, but … stars, but now I’m back in town for our high-school reunion, guess who I run into but Mr. Right-Now himself…
Older. Hotter. And still sexy enough to make me forget about the glittery white frosting currently smeared across my chest.
Sparks are flying, and so are my panties, and soon, our trip down memory lane has taken a detour to ‘oh my god, don’t stop!’. Population: me.
But can I turn Mr. Right-Now into Mr. Forever? Or will crazed fans, vicious yoga moms, and three dozen flesh-toned popsicles (don’t ask) doom our romance to the ‘Where are they now?’ section of MTV’s greatest hits?
You’ll be begging for a taste of Lila Monroe’s new sexy, laugh-out-loud romance!

This book wins a gold star for Hottest Former Boy Band Hero and Best Corruption Of Cake. Loved it!
The book starts with Maggie coming back home after her business failed and moving in with her mum. I love that Maggie bakes and not just normal cakes but adult cakes ones where she can sometimes make cock cakes there is a lot of banter between Maggie and Drew as when he first bumps into her again she is covered in cock cake. The book is so humorous and there were many times that I did, in fact, laugh out loud.
At one point Drew and Maggie end up in a bar where they play a drinking game with shots and they both admit some embarrassing and bad stuff in their lives, it was very amusing. I really liked how they did that and it skipped the embarrassing parts of their relationship. But this was one of my favourite scenes in the whole book. I feel it needed a mentioning! Another scene that was super funny is when she asks Drew to be a stripper I chuckled so much reading it!
I loved the connection that Drew and Maggie had and that they could have an honest relationship with each other. How he was so supportive of her when she got business offers, I just loved how the relationship built between them they are so cute!
There were 2 other characters that appeared to create some drama and that is Becky she acts like she is still in high school, she even tries to ruin a business opportunity for Maggie. I really didn’t like her, where all the other characters acted older and their age she still seemed like she was in school. Charlie another character was in the band with Drew and he was so selfish just assuming that Drew would do stuff, he redeems himself by the end but I still didn’t like him.
The whole book was so cute and I loved the feeling that Lila managed to create whilst reading this story.
A series of humiliating events!
Sugary sweet baker Maggie moves back to town after her bakery in New York failed. Former pop star prince Drew (& older brother of her former bestie from across the street) is back to open a music production studio.
Maggie’s always had a crush on Drew and unfortunately seeing him again after 10 years those little butterfires reappear.
One embarrassing moment after another they can finally make a connection. A very saucy one!
I loved this book! It was hilarious and sexy and fun. A must read!
Cute not quite friends to lovers nor second chance romance story.
Lila Monroe wrote a really enjoyable, hot and funny story.
Mr. Right-Now is easy to read, perfect for the summer time.
I liked the main characters.I’ve appreciated how Maggie and Drew after some bumps on the road of the success, the first in the bakery field and the second in the music industry, doesn’t drown in sorrows but they both find a way to be happy again and to build a better future for themselves.
Mr Right-Now was SO MUCH FUN!! I read it in one sitting and laughed my @$$ off , when I wasn’t fanning myself because it was so darn HOT! I love it when authors are able to straddle the line between humor and sexiness well – and Lila Monroe is a master. There was snark, humor, emotion, and such realness. It gave me such a sense of nostalgia and maybe a tad bit of jealousy – I mean, can you imagine that say, Justin Timberlake was your best friend’s big brother AND next door neighbor. Of course you have a massive crush (that pre-dates his boyband hey day) on him because he’s hot and sweet and saves you from the worst night of your high school life. Fast forward ten years, after being forced to move back in with mom and dad (after seeing your hard earned dream die right in front of you), you literally fall face first into a massive phallic shaped cake (that you created) RIGHT IN FRONT OF JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE! And instead of dying of a case of laughter over your predicament, he helps you, remembers you, and ASKS YOU OUT. Over and over and over again. And bails you out of numerous jams. And makes your panties combust. That’s Mr Right-Now in a nutshell, but it’s so much more. I just loved every single minute of it. 5 out of 5 wine glasses. Go read it now. Thank me later (and feel free to replace JT with the boyband hottie of your choice).
I will never get enough of Lila Monroe’s books! Each book just gets better, and better!
Mr. Right-Now is your classic rom-com, but with a twist! I could easily see this turned into a movie, it’s THAT good!
You’d think this is your typical “girl has crush on boy-next-door”, but it’s so much more than that! Maggie and Drew have known each other for years. But when Drew hits it big with his boy band, he becomes so much more than the boy-next-door. Every female around the world, and probably a lot of males too, want a piece of Drew. So what’s a girl from across the street supposed to do when the boy of her dreams has the world at his fingertips? Fast forward years later, and that’s exactly what we find out in this book!
Mr. Right-Now is wet-your-pants-level hilarious! The comedic dialogue, along with the profoundly embarrassing situations, makes this story completely entertaining. Add in the unbelievably romantic and salacious aspects, and this book is a swoon-fest. Maggie and Drew’s dynamic together was pure joy. Quirky, sweet, and caring Maggie is literally the perfect match to Drew’s sexy, charming, and chivalrous personality. The two together just sets this book apart from others. Their interactions, *cough* in and out of the bedroom, were a riot! I just fell in love with them, and you’ll be hard pressed not to, as well.
I did not want this book to end! An utterly unique story line, coupled with flawless writing, makes this book unforgettable. If you love sexy, sweet, and sinfully hot romances, then you need to read this book. You will not be disappointed!
Sexy, Laugh out Loud, RomCom
I love Lila’s stories! I always laugh and they always make me feel good! Mr. Right Now was what I needed at just the right time, it was a true romcom in every sense of the word. Does this give you a lot of information on the book, not if you are looking for spoilers but if you are looking for a sexy, laugh out loud, gives you all the feels book then this is it!
Short review. Funny, entertaining, sexy read. Sizzling chemistry between Maggie and Drew even though their reunion started off awkward and slightly embarrassing. The secondary characters are fun and interesting, the story flows from the first page to the last.
