This was a great book! Matt wanted to live up to his father and become President of the United States, like his father was. His father was killed while acting as President, which is still an unsolved mystery.
Charlotte and Matt actually met when she was a young girl when his father was President and had dinner at her parents house.
Matt brought Charlotte onto his team for the Presidential election. She has always been in love with him, but the fact that he was trying to win the election and become President was stopping Matt and Charlotte from trying to make a relationship work. Matt saw what his mother went through as the first lady and he did not want to put Charlotte through the same thing his mother went through.
Yes, they had passionate sex and snuck around because of the press, but they never had an actual relationship.
After the announcement came that Matt Hamilton won the election and was going to be the youngest President in United States history, Charlotte decided it was time for her to leave, she knew it and so did he.
Cannot wait to read the next book!
“Mr. President” is an electrifying dazzler of the highest degree!
A Political powerhouse that will blow you into the next hemisphere. Where you’re left unhinged and unmasked. Those feeling are spurring you on. Even though your quivering from that chemical connection. Leaving you in a state of molten lava or desire. Feeling as though you may combust at any second. If you don’t have your Matt Hamilton fix!
That man that is your everything! SYYY
Which in this case you will do anything for him as well!
For the love of all thing mighty! Katy Evans has kicked some political butt here with Mr. President!
She wrote an epically outrageous, fantastic, wickedly fun and dirty book to read! Like jaw-droppingly good! With the flow and ease that will have you clutching to your ebook! Then saying cliffhanger??? WTF??? I need the next book!!! Like Pronto!
Matt and Charlotte are seriously perfect for each other, they can push each other buttons, and not sit back and let one of them give crap to the other person, Charlotte challenges Matt and I really liked that:
“You’re asking me with that demanding look that means you’re demanding.”
“Then I’m demanding-slash-asking you.”
Matt is a typical red-blooded male but when it comes to Charlotte, that goes into overdrive, “the look in his eyes tells me exactly what he wants to do to me, how he wants me. Every female part in me feels it. Knows it. Matt will be effing me senseless tonight.” There was a cliffhanger, I didn’t appreciate that so I have a huge book hangover right now, and I’m eager for the next book
“We’re a perfect couple, in the most imperfect situation.”
After staring at my screen for 5 minutes I still don’t know how to start this review. So I am just going to try to explain how this book made me feel. First and foremost it gave me HOPE. This book made me feel good and optimistic about the future. It sounds strange but I have been in a very negative bubble lately (social media sucks!). The election this year has been BRUTAL and has such a negative vibe to it. I am so happy Katy decided to write this book because it made me forget about the real world for a while.
“Matt is so focused, so passionate; I’ve never seen such passion in a man’s eyes before when he talks about the United States of America. I love it, but I also love the way he looks at me with the same passion now.”
Matt and Charlotte are one of the most amazing characters I have had the pleasure of meeting. Matt wants to change the world and do good and Charlotte wants to be a part of that. I just loved how they first met and that set the tone for me in this book. Matt is so passionate and focused on both running for president and how he interacts and cares for Charlotte, it was beautiful. These two together gave me goosebumps. Matt made me swoon with his actions and words. Matt was no sleazy/player taking advantage of people. He was genuinely one of the most interesting, loyal and caring characters. Charlotte was the same, she was so helpful and did everything she could to help Matt in his campaign. But she was also her own person. These two had so much chemistry together, they were the perfect team. It also had some very heartbreaking moments that had me shedding a couple of tears.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
Mr. President is a very unique story that had me hooked from the start. I want Matt Hamilton for President, I wish he was real and running for office. This book has such a positive message and I just couldn’t get enough of it. I didn’t want this book to end, but I am satisfied with the way it ended. Matt and Charlotte are perfect in my eyes. Katy did such a phenomenal job with this book! I’ll definitely be rereading this book when I need some positivity in my life. READ THIS BOOK!
Show of hands who wishes that yummy Matt was running for President for real and would totally vote for him?! This gal would. He for sure gets my vote!
I’m just sitting thinking, hello chemistry between Matt and Charlotte. Nice to meetcha! I really enjoyed this one. Definitely a great love story. I can’t wait for the second book to come out in January. That ending has a wee bit of a cliffy. Nothing big, but it certainly hooked me!
Oh man, this book! My freaking goodness, MATT. HAMILTON. I’ll just begin this by saying how much I adore and LOVE this man. Nothing can ever make my heart stutter and skip a beat like the famous men of Katy Evans. There’s just something in her characters that are so uniquely enticing and addictive like a drug you can’t shake. And I’ve never been much of a fan of politics, but this author has certainly managed to reel me in and have me flipping the pages like there’s no tomorrow. I felt every single emotion surrounding the story, the feels emanating from the characters, the passion, the drive, the love—EVERYTHING. Good god, does Katy Evans know how to bring the swoony, steamy feels like nobody’s business! Especially with a forbidden love story like this one. My fingers and toes tingled and curled, my stomach was invaded by an army of butterflies, my heart was beating wildly inside my chest, and it happened the entire time I indulged in this book. What. A. Freaking. Helluva. Ride.
There’s no doubt about it, there’s no questions asked—I am definitely voting for LOVE. I was smitten right off the bat with Matthew Hamilton, but as the story went deeper, I fell that much harder too. He’s a sinfully gorgeous and stubborn as hell alpha, but he’s always so sweet and tender with Charlotte that he just melts my damn heart and panties simultaneously. I admired the confidence and power he wields, yet he’s still one of the smartest and most down to earth people. He won my vote and my heart when he broke down those walls surrounding him and let Charlotte see the real him. He’s a very private person, so that really means a lot for him to let her in. I absolutely loved his pure passion and dedication to what he’s doing. Yes, he’s running for the most powerful office in the country, but what he’s showing to the public isn’t just to deceive, win votes and for the paparazzi to eat up—it’s his heart and true self. He’s a real damn charmer and I don’t think Charlotte stood a chance barricading her heart from Mr. President. Because I know I didn’t.
Charlotte Wells is just an amazing woman with a huge golden heart all around. I loved how selfless she was and just as hardworking and devoted to changing her country for the better as Matt was. I think that’s what made her the perfect match for him the whole time. They kept on bringing out the best in one another and it just made them so achingly good together. Though my heart cracks along with hers every time reality sinks in and she thinks about how they can never be together. It was so easy to fall in love with a man like Matt Hamilton, but I can’t imagine how heartbreakingly difficult and soul crushing it would be for her to forget about him and their memories, even all those stolen moments, together. Especially for a man well-known and talked about by everybody every single day.
Yes, Mr. President ends with a huge cliffhanger. I think I’m still in dire need of processing where and how it ended. It makes me want to claw my eyes and pull my hair out all over again knowing I have to wait until next year before I get the second half of Matt and Charlotte’s story. I’m dying to know what will come next. How these two characters would deal with such a life-changing situation. Because in my head, I’m already conjuring up all the ways they could get back together, how Matt can deal with all his misgivings and the whole country can just accept Charlotte Wells as the goddamn First Lady. But I will wait. I’ll summon all the patience I have in my body because this book is that immensely good and addicting. Perfectly in time for the upcoming elections, Katy Evans will give you yet another man to crave, die for and drool over with Mr. President.
I have not hidden the fact that I LOVE all things Katy Evans. I had an “insta-lust” with her after reading her REAL series back in 2014 and much like Matt and Charlotte in MR PRESIDENT, it has grown into an admiration and love for not only her writing, but her as well. Her books bring a continued allure and bliss that can be rare to find for an avid reader such as myself. Over time, and with all the books I’ve read, I find that I am getting harder and harder to please, so when I can get completely enchanted and find joy in a beautiful love story like this, I am thankful to the author and their creative abilities. So THANK YOU Katy Evans for bringing us readers another beautifully spellbinding book!
My Summary: (spoiler free)
“I was eleven when I was first introduced to Hamilton’s legendary charm.” – Charlotte. Even at the age of eleven, Charlotte was completely enamored by the mere presence of Matthew Hamilton. Matt and his father, Lawrence Hamilton (the President of the United States), attended dinner at the home of the Wells’ (Charlotte’s family home) when they first met. Even though, they spoke minimally, there was an obvious connection. After saying good-night that evening, Charlotte found herself compelled to write a letter to Matthew, “I want to thank you and the President for coming. If you decide to run for president, you have my vote. I’d even be willing to join your campaign.” She didn’t receive a response, nor did she expect one. Now, over a decade later, she sees the news: BREAKING NEW: MATTHEW HAMILTON HAS CONFIRMED HIS INTENTION TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT. Her lifetime crush is running for president! Her parents are invited to the campaign inaugural. Of course her parents see this as an opportunity for Charlotte to “get her feet wet” in politics, she’s the daughter of a ex-senator after all. “It’s time for you to make a difference, take steps in embracing your own personal power…” – Charlotte’s mom. She looks at this as an opportunity for clarity. A way for her to banish her lifelong crush and move on. Or at least that’s what she’s telling herself, but instead she finds herself still very much overwhelmed by his charm.
Matthew Hamilton never planned to run for president. No matter how many times he heard his father tell everyone he would. “A thousand times, my father said I would be President. He told his friends, his friend’s friends, and he often told me. I’d laugh and shake it off.” Matt had other plans for his life, but sometimes plans change. Hopes and dreams change. After his father was assassinated, he was consumed with figuring out who did it. But after not finding justice, he decided to put his willpower where it mattered. Now, he is an Independent candidate running for the President of the United States. After his national announcement, at his inaugural party, he spots Charlotte Wells. “I’m determined to have her on my team.” He knows that she is just as driven and passionate about this country as he is and just maybe, he’s been slightly intrigued with her since he first met her all those years ago and he wants to learn more about the woman she’s become.
Now, Charlotte is signed on to be a political aide in his campaign. Speculations begin almost immediately. Why would candidate Hamilton bring in such an inexperienced political aide to help with his campaign? What is the real reason he brought her on? With the world (and the Republican and Democratic candidates) dying to dig up any negative details about Matt’s life that they can, now is NOT the opportune timing for Matt to be seen with one of his political aides in any fashion besides campaign related. Any type of scandal can ruin Matt and his campaign for presidency, so when moments turn from every day to stolen…stolen looks, stolen touches, stolen whispers…those moments can be damaging if discovered. “Scandal is a career breaker in politics.” –Charlotte’s mom. Matt and Charlotte have to learn to navigate their scandalous rendezvous and not get caught. Both know this affair cannot go on after the election. Charlotte knows deep down that Matt WILL win and there’s no room for her in his life then. The United States will be his “First Lady”. “Winning doesn’t come with more. It’s a sacrifice he’s willing to make to become this country’s leader, the one I admire him for.” But walking away isn’t easy. Can Matt and Charlotte win at love?
“…something about this feels dark and forbidden.” –Charlotte.
Addictive.

Just like Matt’s campaign slogan (“Alphabet Campaign”), I could list words A to Z to describe this book, but that would take up a lot of space and I think you get the point after the words I gave above. I’ll be honest, when I first heard this was a book surrounding politics, I was slightly nervous. I was not nervous that Katy Evans could bring us phenomenal writing and a beautiful story (which, for me, she always does), but I was worried I wasn’t going to be able to connect with the story or the characters. But let me tell you, I was WAY wrong! Yes, this story is about politics, but at its core, it is a love story. It is Matt and Charlotte’s love story. This was a story about forbidden love. Finding your true match in the most inopportune time and place. The forbidden concept in this book, is so thrilling and gripping that you can feel their connection leaping off the page! Will they get caught or will they get away with it? If he wins, can they make it work? And then the characters themselves are so multi-faceted. Matt comes off to the world as this confident, driven, honorable man (which he is), but then we get to see a deeper side of him with Charlotte. He’s more alpha with her (which I love!)…protective, possessive, and mischievous. “She’s what I never knew I wanted and have discovered that I need.” Charlotte is this energetic, unapologetic, sweet character who is impossible not to love. She grounds Matt and the same time pushes him to achieve his best. She wants him to win, even though that means she will lose. The connection these two characters have for each other is what made me fall in love with this book. What starts out as a slow, hesitant connection builds into irresistible admiration and genuine love. They are simply perfect for each other and I hope they get their HEA! “We’re the perfect couple, in the most imperfect situation.” –Charlotte.
This is the first of the WHITE HOUSE duet. The second is anticipated to be released Jan 2017.
5 stars!
Not a fan of politics this book will definitely change your mind! This story pulled me in from the very first chapter and I couldn’t put it down. Matt Hamilton, the presidential candidate that is hot, sexy and definitely swoon worthy who hires Charlotte the young, hot, sexy woman who loves her country and wants to help Matt with his campaign. The passion between these two is scorching hot and will leave you begging for the next book!
Mr President is a swoon worthy romance that will melt your heart. Matthew Hamilton has everything a good candidate needs, honesty, devotion, compassion, understanding, knowledge, and a strong love for his country. Charlotte Wells is the daughter of a senator who knows the sacrifices that come with being in politics. After a brief encounter when they were young Matt and Charlotte meet again years later when Matt decides to run for president. Matt insists Charolette work for his campaign and sparks fly instantly. So starts a romance of forbidden kisses, stolen touches, and a love that unfortunately has an expiry date. This story grabbed me from the start and didn’t let go. I highly recommend this book, you don’t have to like politics to enjoy this steamy romance.
I’m not normally into political books, but this one… I have Mr. President and Commander in Chief sitting on my shelf and LOVE them so much! You need to read, it has different twists that I didn’t see coming as the two fight to figure out their roles.
This story is all about Matt and Charlotte. Matt is running for President of the United States in his father’s footsteps. Matt believes he can’t have his cake and eat it too. Meaning, he doesn’t believe he can have a functional relationship and do his job well if elected President. Matt is the type of guy to give whatever he does 100%. So how can you give 100% to two different things…it’s impossible.
Sometimes love just isn’t enough. Sometimes things don’t work out, no matter how much we want them to. This story felt like one of sacrifice. Learning to think not only of yourself, but for the people you care about and/or the greater good.
I had some issues with the main character Charlotte. She met Matt when she was eleven years old and has been crushing ever since. I feel like Charlotte was forever eleven years old. She constantly reverted back to that child who had a bad case of infatuation. Charlotte had a great sense of humor and was such a hard worker, so I didn’t completely dislike her character. I just needed her to embrace the woman that she had become instead of always feeling inferior.
Matt on the other hand, I had no trouble falling for. He was very suave and had this way of making you love and believe in him. I wanted him to run for President in real life haha. The author did that great of a job making me believe in him. I wish we got to see more things from his perspective. I enjoyed reading his chapters a lot.
Sadly, I had some issues with the writing. I feel the author repeated herself quite often. It was pretty distracting to hear the same description or wording over and over. Also, Charlotte would get so “amped up” from a mere glance from Matt. I just felt the two characters were at different stages in their life and it didn’t always make sense to have them together. Then again, love doesn’t always make sense so there ya go!!!
Overall, I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it. I feel like I’ll still pick up the sequel to see how it all ends.
A recent treat I had was finding Mr. President and Commander in Chief by Katy Evans. It gave me all the feels with a noble reason for caring about America. As our country has devolved into the mess of being polarized more than ever before in recent years, it was so refreshing to read a couple of books that really focused on people who wanted to make a difference in the world. Just as in the movie, An American President, the heroine and the hero are admirable and inspiring in each of their own ways.
Charlotte is the daughter of a US senator whose family was supportive of the assassinated previous president, Law Hamilton. His son, Matt Hamilton, is now running for president after sharing with Charlotte that he never would. Having met a handful of times while they were young, Charlotte and Matt now have the world watching as they start to work together. Their chemistry is electric. And although they do their best to deny their feelings for each other, It’s obvious they can’t stay away.
I recommend it – Five STARS
Can I be the president’s wife? I admired the male character and enjoyed the story
This is one of the best books I’ve read in a while. It’s defiantly going on my top books of the year.
“You don’t get to quit me,” he says, those dark eyes of his intensifying. “You don’t get to walk away from me. Next time you do, all you’ll have to do is look behind you to find me at your heels.”
Matt Hamilton has stolen my heart. A good man that believes in something and is going after it. It may not be what he wants but it’s was he knows he needs to do. I think Charlotte and him have fantastic chemistry.
I love politics. I think this hit it on all notes for me and I really wish I could get more books like this. Even if you don’t like politics you will love this book. It has just enough to make me really happy but not to much that others would be turned off by that aspect.
Sexy powerful man, smoking hot chemistry, forbidden romance, heroine you wanna be, this book had it all. The tension was on point and kept me glued to the book from cover to cover. I couldn’t put this down.
I am soooo ready for the next book. I NEED to know what happens!!
Oh and that cover…yeah I couldn’t stop staring at it either.
Katy Evans is the first author in the world who gifted me with my first ever signed paperback and it was of the White House Series.
This might not be a big deal to most, but I swear, this made my whole life. It’s also pretty cool that I received the book on my birthday. **insert screams here***
But this story, Charlotte and Matt, now these two characters didn’t grow on me like in other books, no. I was hooked from the start. And I love how Katy didn’t make this story about politics but she essentially told us a story about love within the constricting boarders of politics. I mean a lot could go wrong and probably almost did (No spoilers? Okay)
Charlotte, in a lot of ways, represents most people. You aren’t sure what you are going to do with your life after college, you hope for the best for your country, you are compassionate and even when you know better, you can’t seem to be able to stay away from him.
Charlotte made me dream, she gave me permission to see my life as bigger than what it is. That I matter and I can also make a difference in the world.
And as for Matt, what can I say wrong? I find that sexy, highly intelligent men who take up responsibility in life are so attractive. The way he refuses to give her up, now that’s a real man who acknowledges where he stands and what’s going on with him.
I love Katy. I have read all of Katy’s books and it’s safe to say after Remy, Matt is my favorite.
A MUST read!!! Well done Katy Evans and thank you for the signed paperback!!!
Loved these characters.
A love story born in the world of politics with stolen moments during a presidential campaign. She’s just a girl who sees a man. To her he isn’t the President, but the man she wants to marry. He doesn’t belong to her, he belongs to the public.
When the daughter of a senator and the son of an ex-president have a secret love affair the campaign takes precedence over the blooming romance. Becoming part of the campaign never seemed as thrilling as in this moment getting to spend time next to the man of her dreams.
I love how Matt’s character was transformed from teenager to man to this untouchable popular candidate for President.
Katy wrote a smoldering, sexy, smart and sophisticated forbidden romance. Even in a world of politics it was crisp and smooth. Katy has a knack for creating sexy stunning men who are confident yet humble.
Katy began with a banger opening then ventured back to where it all began. Your going to need patience after that opening scene. I like the backstory, yet I’m anxious to get back to where it ended and how and if it will begin again. The hoops they jump thru and the challenges they face are thrilling.
The angst, the lust, the desire, and the passion have me wound so tight.
You don’t have to follow politics, understand politics, or be interested in politics to love these characters. It’s more than politics. It’s about a man devoted to his country with the support of a young woman who believes in him.
Reaching the beginning point is like waiting for the next book release after it ends on a cliffhanger. Pure torture.
Great author. Lovely story
Yes, a cliff-hanger (which I hate) but read the series. Very realistic.
Unbelievable but thoroughly enjoyable.
