Written in her “trademark darkly sensual style” (Booklist), New York Times bestselling author Linda Howard brings us an electrifying page-turner of passion and suspense with a captivating premise… What would make the perfect man? That’s the delicious topic that heats up the proceedings at a certain table of professional women at their favorite restaurant. What qualities would he have? Would he … qualities would he have? Would he be tall, dark, and handsome? Caring and warmhearted–or would just muscular do? Jaine Bright and her three girlfriends start off with the basics: he’d be faithful and reliable, the responsible type, and have a great sense of humor.
But as the conversation picks up momentum, so do the quartet’s requirements for Mr. Perfect as and they write down a tongue-in-cheek checklist that’s both funny and racy. The next thing they know, the List, as it has come to be called, becomes an overnight sensation, spreading through their company like wildfire and grabbing the interest of local newspapers and television coverage. No one expected this avalanche of attention for something that began as a joke among friends. But the joke turns deadly serious when one of the four women is murdered…
The prime suspect in the case is the victim’s boyfriend, who was one of a number of men who found the List sexist and offensive. An impenetrable alibi gets him off the hook, but a deadly stalker targets the three remaining friends. Now, with the help of Jaine’s neighbor, an unpredictable police detective, the puzzle must be solved as the dream of Mr. Perfect becomes a chilling nightmare.more
There isn’t a Linda Howard book I haven’t loved. The humor and the romance, the sexy and the danger, it’s all just a perfect smooth blend that creates a story I don’t really want to wake up from.
I can chew her books up in less than a day and come out bleary and blinking for more. This one is especially amusing with the FMC and her friends cooking up a list of their Mr. Perfect, and there by drawing the attention of a serial killer.
I snarfed out loud when she spies on her neighbor drinking OJ right after the milk. I can’t really explain it but there’s something so earthy and relatable about Linda Howard’s writing that just feels real. Like I’m right there in the room with the characters, laughing along with them.
One of my all time favorite books I always recommend. The scene by the fridge is classic.
Mr Perfect is probably one of my favorite books. The killer will shock you.
OMG! This book will have you laughing out loud and stressed with each turn of the page. Linda Howard always delivers.
Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard is to me the perfect book. I own the hardcover, the paperback & got the D/L the minute it came out. I have reread this book several times. It is my go to book when nothing else seems to get my attention.
A group of girlfriends make up a list of what makes a perfect man in jest, with tragic results as murder ensues. In spite of tragedy romance does flourishes.
A MUST read.
Yum! Yum! I bought this several years ago and have read it quite a few times. I absolutely loved the two main characters. Great read! I’ve read just about all of Linda Howard’s books ( even the old Sillouettes ) and am never disappointed.
Really good but I hated the language.
Read this book years ago, but would read it again. The characters had original personalities, the story was also original about a child that was traumatized by its parent and grew up mixed up and confused. A murderous rage was triggered by a phrase. After that, the pages flew. Can’t go wrong (most of the time) with a Linda Howard novel as I have read some more than once!!
I laughed out loud most of the book. FANTASTIC read, book, characters. The multiple relationships and their dynamics are superb.
I’ve read this book multiple times and enjoy and laugh every time.
PERFECT book.
4/5 stars
Entertainment abounds in this Romantic comedy meets suspenseful thriller. This is one book you definitely shouldn’t judge by its cover.
I knew when I picked up a Linda Howard book that I’d be in for lots of suspense, danger and drama. I knew to expect some steamy romance. What I was unprepared for was how much I’d find this particular novel funny also.
I should have suspected it from the anonymous elevator notices posted at her work. I should have seen it coming from the arguments with her grouchy next door neighbor. I should have seen it coming… But was always delightfully surprised every time it happened.
Serial killer, check. Drama, check. A frustrating level of angst for the main characters, check. Surprising level of interesting plot twists, check. Humorous banter between characters, whodathunkit…
This wasn’t my first book by this author and it definitely won’t be my last! You go, girl.
Four friends, professional women, meet for drinks after work. The conversation leads to their requirements for the “perfect man,” which starts out reasonably, with faithful, reliable, and a great sense of humor at the top of their List, as it’s later dubbed. But as the drinks go down, and humor kicks in, their preferences get sexier and spicier. The List is leaked, only to go viral, first in their company newsletter, then in the media. Their embarrassment over the situation turns to fear when one of them is murdered. It becomes apparent someone has found the List offensive, and our heroine and police detective hero must figure out whodunit before they are all made to pay for their happy hour indiscretion. This was a one day read for me – great suspense, and fun, fun characters, both of whom have smart mouths and test each other at every turn. I really enjoyed it.
Another winner by a great author!
Highly recommend. I couldn’t put it down.
My favorite Linda Howard book…hands down.
Linda Howard is always an awesome read! She is one of my go-to’s. I have been reading her for years and Mr Perfect did not disappoint. She kept me guessing “who-done-it” throughout the entire story. Suspense with a perfect blend of realistic romance.
Linda Howard doing what she does best. Very enjoyable.
