My boyfriend is getting married.Okay, technically he’s my ex-boyfriend. Two months ago he decided he wanted a break. I still thought he was my happily ever after. On any other day, knowing he was gone for good would be the worst thing that could possibly happen. But not today. Because not only is my boyfriend getting married—his bride is my best friend. And they’ve sent me an invitation. There’s no … me an invitation.
There’s no way I’m going to attend. I don’t care if it’s in beautiful Scotland. Nothing and no one could convince me.
Not even when a deliciously handsome stranger tells me he needs to go as my plus one.
Not even when he shoots me a wickedly, sexy smile.
But then he offers me the opportunity of a lifetime—a dream come true. How can I say no? I have one condition. He has to be my new boyfriend. I mean, my pretend new boyfriend.

Loved this book. Poor Stella was not only abandoned by the man she’d been with and loved for 6 years, just a few months after their break up, she gets an invitation to his wedding…to her best friend. She doesn’t want to go. Why would she? Then Beck comes along. He wants to be her plus one at the wedding because he has a business deal he wants to work on and Stella is his access to make it happen. She finally reluctantly agrees but she has her own terms to their little deal. She works as a designer for him and he pretends to be her boyfriend for the wedding.
The longer they spend around one another though, the more they come to really like each another. She’s good for Beck and goes out of her way to help him achieve what he wants, and he teaches her that she’s worth more than a man who didn’t appreciate her, or a friend who wasn’t really a friend to her. Another great book by this author.
Very sweet, very swoony, very British. I loved this book. It has a lot of parallels to the Wedding Date, which is thankfully acknowledged in the book. Beck Wilde is so dreamy and I lived watching Stella’s journey.
Stella London is stunned when she finds out her her boyfriend of 7 years Matt is getting married to her best friend Karen… and she’s invited. Stella has no plans of going to the weeklong wedding in Scotland, that is, until the tall, dark and handsome Beck Wilde makes a deal with her and she brings him as her fake boyfriend. Beck feels like the start of something, but Matt has taught Stella not to trust her judgement. Is Stella making a mistake?
Mr. Mayfair is a fun, sweet and steamy story you won’t be able to put down. I can’t wait to read about Beck’s friends.
Absolutely LOVED it!
Love this book, another 5 star read from Louise Bay.
Five raving stars! It literally holds ALL THE FEELS!
Oh my bloody gosh! Another great read from a favourite author of mine. Whenever I’m in the mood for hot English heroes and witty and sassy heroines, I find myself reading Louise Bay’s books because they check all the required boxes for a delirious and addicting read. Each one of her books has her unique signature. And now, she gifts us a funny, light and super steamy romantic comedy that blew my mind. She took one of my favourite tropes and made it hers, yes ladies, I’m talking about fake relationship romance with subtle touches of everything romance book must have: wonderful characters, refreshing storyline and flawless writing.
Mr. Mayfair captured me and held hostage of my heart from the first page to the last one. There is so much about this book. It is more than a simple romance. It is so much more. It is a modern fairy tale with villains, a sassy damsel, an ambitious knight, rich and this wouldn’t be a fairy tale if there weren’t a castle… and Louise Bay gave us the perfect Scottish castle! But don’t be fooled because the story also feels real and the way the characters interact and behave added more reality like this could happen to you (I’m still dreaming that there is a British gentleman out there for me #SorryNotSorry)
I adored Beck and Stella very much. Their banter and their attraction were out the charts. Both made a hell of a self-discovery journey! Although their “fake relationship agreement”, they took good care of each other, enough to help the other get what they want, to genuinely sacrifice for the other if required. Despite being two strangers with different goals they worked together making difficult to ignore the attraction and chemistry.
Beck, the ambitious knight and slightly indifferent to women who considered them mere accessories. The epitome of a rich man who would do anything to achieve what he wants. Behind his hard and dark exterior is a charming and polite gentleman who has a golden heart (even if he doesn’t know it). He is sin personified in an expensive suit.
On the other hand is Stella, the sassy damsel who is in the middle of heartbreak which make it quite easy to convince her to accept Beck’s proposition. She is hurting in a way that shakes you and makes you lose the confidence and doubt love. Her instincts and trust are dormant. Watching her interact with Beck will glue her broken pieces and she will recover to her normal self. Piece by piece she will be whole and the wonderful part is that Beck is an spectator and contributor to her healing process and he will make her see it.
The fake relationship mixed in with business goals make Beck and Stella’s story tantalizing and very stimulating! First the control phase where he is all in charge and she is highly emotional. Then the funny and hilarious part of faking it. As they got emotionally and physically intimate their plan turns into something more deep because feelings are growing and denying them is almost impossible for them. Passion is a fiery lady and it is better to be in her good side! So hot and sexy are their intimate moments. So funny are their moments faking their relationship in front of the others. So sweet is the way they protect each other. So unique is the way the fall for each other…
In this book, Louise Bay wrote about England and Scotland so uniquely in her way that made me dream of going someday to those lands. I love how she pull all her cards and knowledge to create enticing books that make you keep a smile on your face after finishing it. There is nothing more powerful than a well written story and Louise Bay knows it! That’s why her readers love her and her books are always so good to be true.
Reading this masterpiece was a bookish pleasure I only feel when reading Louise Bay’s books. I loved it and I highly recommend it. For those book addicts who love British heroes this is a perfect book for you!
Mr. Proposition
I would call him a lot of things…determined, workaholic, fastidious, and dogged. You can call him Mr. Mayfair.
This novel is a fun fake romance turned…well, you get the drift. What happens in Scotland doesn’t always stay in Scotland!
Sweet and wonderfully, frustrating, Mr. Mayfair will give you all the warm fuzzies your heart desires.
Another good book by this author. Not my favorite trope-fake boyfriend, but I liked the characters. Stella learned a lot about herself and grew exponentially throughout the book; a doormat no more. Beck was just a solid, easy going character out of his element surrounded by old money and a woman he was falling for. Friends, true friends are where this story is at. Florence and Dexter for the win!
This was an audio read for me. Stellar as always with the marvelous Shane East! Both narrators I love.

Ratings
Story Rating – 5 stars!
It checked all of my romance loving heart – a great British hero, strong female heroine, realistically done fake relationship plot development, and fantastic chemistry between the main characters. I was on board immediately and rooting for them both to achieve their personal goals while they became romantically intertwined.
Performance Ratings –
5 stars for Shane East – He is absolutely one of my top British male narrators. I love him to bits, and he delivered a flawless vocal performance on this one.
4.5 stars for Saskia Maarleveld – I always enjoy her vocal acting, and her performance here lived up to my expectations. She has improved how she does her male voices a little, so kudos to her for that improvement!
Overall Rating – 5 stars!
I loved everything about how these two fell into lust, partnered up to help each other out, and fell in love in the process.
Final Thought:
Author Louise Bay is fast becoming one of my top must-read romance authors.
So.. Louise did it again. Me. Mayfair was absolutely great. Beck is just a dream come true and I would love my own Beck. After what Stella‘s been through she really deserves a guy like Beck.. Even if it starts with a little lie about pretending to be Boyfriend and Girlfriend for the wedding of her Ex-Boyfriend and her Ex-best friend.
I loved this story soooo much. I can‘t wait for the next book in this series and to see more of Beck and Stella and the rest.
Louise‘s writing was amazing like it always is and you just fall in love with her characters so easy and fast. She really is one of my favourite writers
One clicked this rom-com for a dose of hot humor. Loved escaping to London and Scotland with a hot Brit hero!
This book was so good, I forgot that I finished it and went back to read more only to discover that it was over! Lol. I’m a big fan of the fake relationship trope and Louise Bay handled this one masterfully! I liked the fact that the arrangement between Stella and Beck was mutually beneficial, because so often the way these are set up are very one-sided. Both Stella and Beck were easy to sympathize with and I was waiting with bated breath to see how everything played out as they attended the dreaded wedding festivities. The way their relationship grew and the way that they grew as individuals was highly enjoyable to witness. I’m hoping that we get some follow up books featuring Beck’s friends. The steamy bits were superb – hot like fire without being gratuitous. I also REALLY loved that we got quite a few of those scenes from his POV (I LOVE it when authors do that). I’ve been a fan of Louise Bay for quite a while now (she’s one of my original must-read/auto-buy queens), but it seems to me that lately she’s hit a stride that I am fully on board with! 5 out of 5 wine glasses.
I’m giving this one 4.5 stars because honestly, Shane East narrated the F*ck outta this one!
Phew!
Our lovable heroine Stella has been handed a total crap sandwich as of late!
It came in the form of a wedding invitation.
From her ex-fiance’.
Announcing his marriage to her best friend.
Yep… He’s a total douchecanoe. Stella can do so much better.
And Thank God (and Louise Bay, lol) she SO does.
The reward for life’s misdeeds? BECK baby!!
In this fake romance storyline, Beck needs Stella to help him secure a real-estate deal that has long since plagued him. He needs to get to that wedding, as Stella’s plus one. The problem? No way in H E double hockey sticks does Stella plan on going!!! Beck can’t be serious with his proposal. The man must have a screw loose!
What a terrific rom-com audiobook! Shane East took Beck to new heights of drool worthy aural excellence. I had to pull my car off the road!
Beck and Stella were a total delight and I loved their story to pieces. They were perfect for each other and each gave as good as they got. They had no idea what they really needed in life until it was standing right in from of them…..each other.
Beck handled (and I do mean handled lol) Stella with such care. Something I didn’t expect from him, and I’m sure he didn’t plan on. She was just such an endearing, brave, intelligent woman and he couldn’t help himself. However; there was a naughty boy under that pristine suit collar!!!
Lucky Stella!
The relationship between Stella and Beck just seemed to flow so naturally. It truly felt as if I could see their story playing out in my mind’s eye. They got to know each other and the attraction they felt towards one another soon bubbled over into pure yumminess and fun! Beck was so good for Stella’s wounded pride, and battered heart. He cherished her heart and I loved him for how he helped her regain her confidence! In kind, I loved how Stella believed in Beck and helped him to see things through a new perspective. She listened to his concerns, and helped him be the man she knew he wanted to world to see. The man that she saw so keenly.
Overall, I SO enjoyed this story which was greatly enhanced by the sexy as sin Shane East giving fantastic aural!
Not only is her boyfriend getting married—his bride is her best friend
A new winner from Louise Bay.
Your boyfriend betrays you with your best friend. What would it take to make you go to their wedding?
The chance to get the career you’ve always dreamed of.
A huge paycheck.
And a hot fake boyfriend.
Check, check and check.
Love, love, love this story! Mr. Mayfair is unforgettable.
I never get tired of Louise Bay’s swoon-worthy Brittish heros. Beck is a man on a mission. He is trying to buy property in Mayfair to complete his upscale development. The owner is proving to be dodgy. Beck is running out of time and his only chance to convince the owner to sell may be at a wedding–one that he is not invited to.
Things are not exactly going Stella’s way. Her long-time boyfriend abruptly leaves her. Soon after, she shocked to hear he’s engaged and planning to marry her best friend. And she’s been invited to the wedding. She has no plans on attending until Beck swoops in and offers her the deal of a lifetime–the chance to grow her interior design business if she takes Beck as her quest to the wedding.
This book was so much fun to read. Stella and Beck are a great couple. The week-long wedding of Stella’s ex was the perfect backdrop for their romance.
Loved the characters! Can’t wait to read the books for the other 4 friends!!
LOVE LOVE everything about this book from the cover to the very last page !!
Louise Bay knows how to write romantic stories that will Male you swoon!! Scotland and England … couldn’t have chosen better locations and it made the story even more authentic for me.
“Don’t hate the player. Hate the game.”
Beck is powerful, strong , sexy as hell and determined to get what he wants . He sounds perfect but he has flaws… well one to be honest- he doesn’t do commitment or relationships!
Yup! He needs to buy the building in for personal reasons and failure is not an option .
Stella plays an important role in this and they decide to make a deal that will be profitable for both.
« Was it possible that Beck Wilde was my winning lottery ticket? My dose of medicine that would help me heal, »
Stella!!! I love Stella and gosh I wanted to slap her ex and his fiancée… even more after …
Im not making much sense I know but trust me when I say that Mr Mayfair is a must read!
I loved it!!
I wish I could find someone like Beck Wilde because he is one hot guy who sees people for who they are and stands up for the people he cares about.
Beck Wilde is desperate to meet with the owner of a particular building that he is determine to acquire for personal and professional reasons. His personal reason would be fulfill if he could acquire the building for his business. However the owner that he is trying to get in touch with wouldn’t give him the time of day. Enter Stella London. Stella gets the surprise of her life when she receives a wedding invitation to her ex-boyfriend and her best friend’s wedding. To say she was shocked is a total understatement! Stella and her ex-boyfriend had been together since they were in high school. She even moved to London and gave up her rising business as an interior decorator for a better job opportunity for her ex. They had only been broken up (taking a break according to Stella) a few months when she got the wedding invitation. To say she is heartbroken and betrayed is more than accurate. Stella decides she’s not going to give them the satisfaction of attending their wedding and act like she is okay with everything. Enter Beck and his outrageous proposition to Stella.
After weighing her options, Stella decides that she will go to the wedding with Beck as her plus one (he wants to go to get time with the owner of the building he wants to acquire who also happens to be the uncle of the groom and godfather of the bride to be). Stella will only do it on 2 conditions – one she gets to work on decorating Beck’s new building and two Beck pretends to be her boyfriend! As Beck and Stella get to know each other better so that they can pull off the boyfriend/girlfriend gig, Beck realizes that he like Stella for who she is since she speaks her mind and doesn’t take any of his crap. Stella also realizes that Beck is showing the qualities that she would want for a boyfriend however, since Stella has already been hurt she can’t figure out what is real and what is pretend with Beck. Especially when they give in to their physical attraction.
The entire week of wedding activities shows Beck how much people are using Stella because of her kind hear and he tries to stand up for her and put people in their place. Stella also realizes that she wants to see where things with Beck goes in real life but she just can’t trust her own judgement. Beck for his part thinks that Stella knows where they really are in their relationship since he wasn’t pretending during the wedding week. It is not until they leave the wedding (before the ceremony) that mis-communication and mistrust comes into play. It takes Beck’s best friends telling him for him to realize that he loves Stella and knows that she is the one for him. However, Beck must come up with the grandest gesture to show Stella how he truly feels and to help her realize that what they have is real and not pretend.
Beck is such a good guy but he somehow let his past dictate how his relationships, or lack there of go until Stella comes along. Stella starts to see her true worth thanks to Beck and that she deserves the best! They are such a great couple once they realize how they truly feel for each other and that there aren’t misconceptions of their relationship!
I haven’t read this author in about five years. I have downloaded a few of her books over the years, but I haven’t had the chance to read them. I am glad I decided to read this shortly after I downloaded it. I couldn’t have been happier with this one.
I connected with the heroine almost instantly. There was something about her that I adored. She was real. She was raw. She wore her heart on her sleeve. I don’t know how I couldn’t like her.
This book starts off pulling your heartstrings from the go. Then it takes you on a joyride of a fake relationship and a little payback that couldn’t have been more enjoyable. The rollercoaster of a ride this book took me on was fun!
Beck was the perfect half of Stella she didn’t know she had… yet. While he intrigues her and she is highly attracted to him, she had no clue what she was signing up for when she agreed to a favor for a favor. He hit her like a ton of bricks.
If there was one thing I can say I didn’t care for in this book it was the climax on command aspect. It’s not a dealbreaker. But it’s too cliche for me. It’s one of those things in a book that has me sighing deeply and rolling my eyes. However, to each their own.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I can guarantee I will be reading more from this author in the future.
