He is powerful, older and my boss, a lethal combination.Job satisfaction has taken on a whole new meaning. When I lied on my resume, I didn’t expect it to matter.I mean any child would love me; I was born to be a nanny.I applied for a position working for a woman, or so I thought. But Julian Masters is definitely all man…the kind you dream of licking chocolate from. The first day was bad. The kids … from.
The first day was bad.
The kids were the spawn of the devil and I spied through a window and caught him doing something obscene…. and equally fascinating.
The second day was worse, he caught me snooping in his bathroom cabinet in my skimpy pyjamas and all hell broke loose.
On the third day, I ran over him in a golf cart.
And by day four I had decided that I wanted that chocolate…all of it.
Melted….on me.
But intelligent, widowed Judges don’t fall for ditzy nannies.
Or do they?

This is my 3rd book I have now read by TL Swan…
Y’all, I am so obsessed with Swan’s books right now!!
Mr. Masters was such an amazing read…I laughed and laughed at his grumpy ass…I could not get enough and didn’t want to put it down for sure.
5 “Hugh Heffner” Stars!!! bahahaha (you will get it when you read it!!) lmao
T.L. Swan is a new to me author and Mr. Masters was an awesome first book for me to read. I devoured it from beginning to end. There is so much that I could say about this book but the main thing to me is that I loved Julian and Bree together, their chemistry was off the charts hot and their interactions were so enjoyable. Julian is a 37 year old widower with two children who is in need of a nanny. Bree is a 25 year old from Australia absolutely no experience but becomes the best thing that has ever happened to Julian and the children. One of the other things I loved about this book was Julian’s parents, it was really refreshing to have super rich parents who were nice and didn’t look at Bree as just the nanny. Bree was a real surprise, she comes across as a ditz and at times OTT but in reality she is a well educated woman who has a career back in Australia. Towards the end it does get really heavy with issues and my only complaint is that while I got my HEA, I wish Bree didn’t have to choose Julian over a future she hoped for. Although in the end she got her happy ending and a lot more. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
TL Swan just knows how to write beautiful stories about broken men. With every story she writes I just become a bigger fan. This is the beginning of her “Mr.” series it it hits the ground running!
Julian Masters is so many things, he’s a judge, a widow, a father and he has built walls up around himself for self preservation. He thinks his life is just the way he wants it, until he goes to the airport to pick up his new nanny.
This is a steamy, emotional story of love, grief, acceptance and forgiveness. It is going to grab your attention and keep it as we have come to expect from TL Swan.
I love a smart woman who make a man (who is perceived as smart) question his entire being. This story had a great plot with a fierce love of family and some fun smexy scenes thrown in. Great read!
The only downside is that the main character was supposedly from Australia but the writer clearly did not do enough research as to the culture and lingo of Australians. This character was from America and was the only fail in the story and can be easily set aside.
This trope is not one of my favourites to read but oh my goodness I was pleasantly surprised! I loved it and could not put it down!! Some of the scenes, sizzling!! Amazing thank you!
I loved this book.
The reason I rated it 4 stars and not 5 stars is because the time frame was not always clear. It would start out like we were on the same day in the next chapter but then we wouldn’t be. This is just my biggest pet peeve in books and movies. I love knowing the time frame and mapping out what is going on. It did get a little better towards the end.
Now what I loved:
The relationship with the kids:
I really loved Bree’s relationship with the kids especially with Willow. I loved how she supported her and was there for her there for her with the bullying. I did like Sammy but I wished we got more of him. I loved how goofy and funny Bree was.
Mr.Masters friends:
They were really interesting a little bit….. no a lot bit crude. I liked them though and their friendship. Their were times I was dying laughing, like oh my gosh I can’t believe that just came out of his mouth. I already started Mr. Spencers book and I am also so excited for Mr.Garcias book.
Mr. Masters:
There were so many times were I wanted to shake this man. It was so sad watching his relationship with the kids. When we found out what happened with the wife it was so sad. I felt bad for him and understood him more but I wanted him to go to therapy not his “therapy”.
Bree and Julian:
I felt like they were truly the definition of opposites attract. He was serious and older while she was younger and never took herself too seriously. When they first got together and he was like this isn’t about love. We all knew it was a lie. The one thing I didn’t like was that he sometimes he treated her like a child when they were fighting.
“Well, that was unexpected.”
In this spicy age gap romance by TL Swan, we follow Brielle, a 26 year old from Australia living in London on a work visa in her journey to discover herself. After landing a nanny job with a Mrs. Julian Masters, our strong heroine, Brielle, finds out that Masters isn’t a Mrs. at all. Now living in a stanger’s home to watch his children despite her lack of experience and knowledge, Brielle is struggling to stay afloat. Widower Julian Masters seems to have it all together. With a toxic attitude and a hard-to-handle daughter, a happy future isn’t attainable. No amount of girls and meaningless sex will fill the void in Julian’s heart, and he doesn’t even realize it.
When Brielle continuously messes up on the job, walking into rooms she doesn’t belong and talking back to Julian’s teenage daughter, it becomes clear that the working arrangement. With one more chance to make it work, Bree discovers that there’s much more to this family she’s working for. As she grows closer to every individual in the house, the situation grows more and more complex.
Julian and Bree enter into a friends with benefits arrangement early on in the book (it’s a romance, don’t get mad at me for spoiling!). With the situation getting stickier and more and more complicated, Bree and Masters realize their new relationship may be detrimental to their own needs.
Mr. Masters is a complicated contemporary romance, boundaries are stretched, rules are rewritten and love is tested on various levels.
Brielle is one of my favorite heroine characters contemporary romance has ever known. The way she says exactly what’s on her mind is so badass. She’s an outstanding character with a unique voice that I absolutely loved.
Masters seemed more anti-hero than hero to me in the beginning. With his misunderstood story and secrets, his voice surprised me as I continued reading. His friends and family were all strong characters that added to his story. By the end of the book, I’d completely fallen for Julian Masters.
With a strong plot line with a ton of dialogue and complex character voices, I loved this book.
This book had it all. It was spicy, original, romantic, surprising, and extremely emotional. Each plot point and twist and turn had be absolutely captivated. I’m not extremely surprised by the outlines of a lot of contemporary fiction, but this book had me turning pages all the way through. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop.
I’m a new reader to TL Swan, but I couldn’t get over her style. I love dialogue. I love arguments. I love characters that are vocal. TL Swan had it all. The dialogue was witty and charming. It was never-ending, exactly as it should be. It was phenomenal.
This book is a must read in the contemporary fiction genre, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who likes age gaps and complex storylines.
If you read Mr. Masters or any of the Mr. series by TL Swan, leave a comment over on my instagram post (@alyssasbookblog) for Mr. Masters, and recommend me a new book!
This book had me in stitches with Brielle and her actions. Julian is everything you want in a older sexy forbidden book boyfriend. Love that it’s not just a romance, there are serious issues in here as well.
4 1/2 romance stars
Not my favorite. It was ok, and definitely steamy, but the guy was an arrogant, older man who is a judge, in a position of power, and the heroine’s boss. This is a forbidden romance; I get that, but come on…sexual harrassment! The heroine is young, only 25, gullible, and easy picking for the rich, savy and handsome man. We read these stories in the tabaloids where the guy goes after the nanny. He was unredeemable for me all through the book. The redeeming quality of the book is the heroine’s interaction with the two children. She is goofy, but definitely cares about them, even more than their cold, unapproachable father. I have liked other work from this author and will continue to read her books, but this one left me flat.
Oh. My. Damn. This is one hot and steamy love story. Throw in a damaged hero and a feisty heroine who is also the nanny. Seriously OH MY DAMN. This is now one of my absolute favorite novels. If you are looking for steam explicate scenes with a great plot this is the book for you.
TL Swan has quickly become one of my favourite romance (and steamy) authors! I find all her books are different, with a range of diverse characters and storylines.
Mr Masters is a nanny / boss trope – And I was all for it! This gave me major “The Nanny” vibes, especially as it is set in London, except with extra steam!
This story follows Bree as she joins her best friend, Emerson (featured in TL Swan other book – Find Me Alastar), as they both adventure off to London for a new job experience overseas. Emerson on an art internship, and Bree taking a new job experience as a nanny. What Bree didn’t expect when arriving in Heathrow airport was for a 39 year old handsome man to be her boss; Julian Masters.
Julian & Bree have a connection straight away. They find themselves attracted to each other and being able to share banter quite easily. Julian is a widow, and with this brings a lot of heart ache. Julian only wants a play mate – Not a girlfriend (especially his nanny). So they decide to be friends with benefits outside of work.
What Julian didn’t expect, was to fall for Bree when she was working. The connection that Bree makes with his children is one of the best parts of this book. Bree finds herself bonding with his closed off 16 year old daughter; Willow. Who is bullied for not having a mum and for being different. Bree takes the opportunity to make sure Willow knows she is loved and she is no different then anyone else. Willow automatically starts looking at Bree like a parent, and it truly was emotional to watch them both bond. Julian’s other child, 9 year old Sammy, also finds himself looking at Bree as a mum. And while Julian & Bree try their best to keep their “arrangement” separate from the children and Bree being the nanny – This becomes difficult when Julian finds himself looking up to Bree as well and her fun positive energy.
Did I cry in this book? Yes. Did I squeal in this book? Yes.
That is when you know you have read a 5 star read. You feel each character’s emotion and you find yourself never wanting to stop reading about these characters. I was so happy that the author did an extended epilogue and how the story ended.
I can’t say more without spoiling it but please, read this book. The emotional and physical effect it will have on you is unforgettable. I was so happy I purchased a signed copy of this book from the authors website!
5/5 star read with 4/5 steam.
Wowwwwwww!!!!!!!! This book is amazing and I’m still feeling breathless, a little flustered and all the other heart melting things!! Mr. Masters definitely rocks my world today. I’m totally in love – charm and sexiness just kept leaking out of this book, but in a in natural, light-hearted way.
Mr. Masters was hot, angsty with one of the best alpha’s vibes, I’ve ever met in my whole bookish life. This book is not short, but… I finished it in one sitting. I couldn’t stop! Every next page has taken me on another level of everything.
I adore Brell, because she is such a perfect heroine! Sexy, feisty, fighting for people she cares about, with all the funny moments around her. From the first pages I knew, I will end reading this book, by loving her more than hero i – sorry not sorry haha. Brell and Julian melted my heart from the beginning. I can’t get enough of Brell, and I won’t forget about Jules EVER. He is a little tortured hero, eve if You young, rich and beautiful – life has it’s own plan for You.
MUST READ ALERT!
This book is so cool, OMG! Is one of the best books that I have read. The evolution of each character is perfect. I fell in love with all of them. While I read this book I laughed out loud, I cried, I felt sad and more.
Oh my life did I love this book or what! It was kind of like a big hug being surrounded by all the little British-isms that reminded me of home. Tee has the British slang on point. I have read other books before where this has felt forced but this certainly wasn’t the case with Mr Masters. I literally couldn’t put this book down. It had me up till 1.30am and then reading again at 6.15am. The characters were not only funny but endearing. Although there were plenty of really funny moments; er golf cart, cat videos, food fights to name but a few, there was also all the feels too. There were times when I just wanted to shake Julian but he got there in the end and matured emotionally through the book. I’m not going to tell you about the plot because seriously you just NEED to read this book yourself and I don’t want to steal those first read feels from you. Brielle falls hard and fast not only for Julian but for his kids Willow and Sammy too. It’s just a perfect story. So well written. You feel like you are right there with them or in their heads thinking and feeling all the things. There are plenty of memorable moments and lines that will stick with me. A true sign of a great book and wonderful writing. I can’t recommend this book enough and now I need to know Spencer’s story.
Go read this book you won’t be sorry you did.
Loved it. Fast pace sexy and hot. Won’t be disappointed. Love all the characters. Bree and Julian relationship is instant and forbidden. He tries to hide their relationship but Bree is so outgoing, hilarious and determined she doesn’t want to hide. Would have wanted to read more about her home life and her job that she up and left. Bit still a great read.
If you like spice, look no further!
If you are looking for a broody single Dad billionaire look no further. Mr. Masters is all you’ll need! This is my first read by T.L. Swan and I loved it!
Julian Masters is the single father of two children and in need of a nanny. Brielle is fresh from Australia and definitely not a nanny but willing to go for it. With a fairly embarrassing few moments in the beginning she hits her stride and slowly softens up the stuck in the mud Julian.
Their moments together are H O T and I love their Thursday traditions. Reading about Brielle and the light she became for the children and Julian was wonderful. I enjoyed their story!
I loved both of the main characters in Mr Masters. Brielle Johnston was feisty, outspoken, opini9nated, daring and just what the doctor ordered when it came to the two children left in her charge. She may not have been the world’s best nanny but she knows how to bestow praise and love on young ones. Julian Masters is GQ gorgeous, successful, grumpy, detached and oblivious to his children’s needs and drowning in anger and guilt. He’s also completely captivated by Bree. Despite all their resistance these two start a hot and heavy relationship fraught with ups and downs. He needs to re-evaluate his feelings and attitudes before it’s too late if he wants her to be by his side and also give her what she desires most.
This book was hot as hell but was also so much more than only that. I loved Bree’s relationship with the kids and Julian’s Mother. She also had a very interesting and intense relationship with Julian. He really made me mad in some scenes but eventually he redeems himself.
Both narrators did a wonderful job performing the authors words. Sofia is a new to me narrator and she was fantastic! Both Sofia and Shane were so good and did all of the characters justice throughout the story.
