This story is one of the first I have read from this author and I was instantly hooked. I definitely gonna go and read more of her for sure
Luke is an ex-soldier and in love with his best friend’s wife Mia. Mia is a widow and single mom. She doesn’t want to let anyone in after her husband Troy dies. Will she be able to let go of the heartache and try again? Can Luke get past feeling like he is betraying his best friend? A good read and second chance romance.
So in love with this series! Nicole S. Goodin is amazing! This series are complete standalones, so they can be read in any order, but you really should read them all!
Luke and Mia (and Joe)are amazing! I think this one is a little more angsty than the other two books, but still amazing!!
Mr March definitely tore at the heart strings. After losing her husband, Mia becomes reliant her his best friend to get her through her life.
Luke is torn, because he’s falling for his dead best friends wife.
This story really tore at the heart strings. Is moving on when a loved one is lost always the best thing to do? But you can’t choose who you love…
Side note: Mia’s mother in law deserves a throat punch.
Love Mr May, another fantastic addition to the Calendar Boys.
Bring on April!
Mr. March was such an outstanding book! I smiled. I giggled. I sobbed frequently. But most of all, I fell in love with the writing and the characters.
Luke is exactly what you would expect from a soldier: fit, loyal, and brave. He’s also a bit worse for the wear after his last tour of duty. I admired Luke almost instantly. The way he honored his best friend’s memory and took care of Mia was swoon-worthy.
Mia was sweet and loving. Her grief was so tangible that I cried for her more than once. I wanted to hug her and tell her things would get better.
The plot had me spellbound, and it was difficult to put the book down to join real life. Of all the books in this series so far, Mr. March by far was my favorite. It can easily be read as a standalone apart from the series. I can’t wait for the rest of this series; bring on Mr. April!
Mr March – Nicole S Goodwin
A touching diversion in the next Calendar Boys book. Previous books were sassy and steamy but Nicole Goodin has shown beautiful diversity in her writing style by delivering a much deeper and more touching story for Luke and Mia.
Mia is left to raise her son solo after her husband Try is killed on deployment. His best mate Luke was the medic who cradled him till the end and promised to watch over Troy’s wife and unborn son.
So…. enter the feels for this one but a stunningly beautiful story of love, hope and resilience.
A diversion but none the less a great story in this series.
Still plenty of sexual chemistry between Luke and Mia and little Joe is just such a cute part of a sweet story.
Looking Forward to Mr April.
He was there for her and her child when everything fell to pieces. He also loved her and didn’t know what to do about it. It took a break in at her house to see him as being something more to her. Really good book that encourages having love and support to get through life. Really good series.

We have Mia and Luke who are both suffering after losing the one person they loved. Mia lost her husband and Luke lost his best friend. Everyone blames Luke for Troy’s death. Troy’s parents are the worse ones well technically his mother.
SO throughout the book we see that Luke kept his promise to Troy to always keep Mia and his child safe. Which he does but at the same time he falls in love with Mia every single day and of course his son. THey both feel like they are betraying Troy but in fact, Troy would be happy that there both happy and that his wife and child are safe in someone he trustes with his life…
Mia and Luke deal with the loss of Troy, her husband and Luke’s best friend during an army tour
Loyalty, family, and love are put to the test in this book as Troy’s mother doles out her wrath on Luke and Mia.

First book I read by the author. It’s a great and emotional story. I loved it and I recommend it.
Luke and Mia’s lives changed when they lost Troy. He was Luke’s best friend and Mia’s husband. It was hard to live without him. Neither of them knew what destiny had in store for them.
It’s hard not to fall in love with them. They are a lovely couple.
Luke is a good, honorable, loyal man. He stayed with Mia for a promise, the one he made to Troy. He would be at her side whenever she needed him, until she threw him out. His plans did not include falling in love with her. And it wasn’t easy. He blamed himself for Troy’s death, for not doing enough to save him. He blamed himself for falling in love with his widow. He didn’t think he was enough for her.
He thinks he will stay by her side as long as she needs him. If she found someone, if she fell in love, he would leave. Even if it broke his heart, he would do it for her.
Mia is a sweet, charming, strong woman. It hasn’t been easy for her either. Luke saw Troy die without being able to help him, and she didn’t have him by her side when she gave birth, he couldn’t meet their son. She liked being able to count on Luke, but she hated herself for depending so much on him, for not being able to do anything alone. And she also felt guilty for falling in love with her husband’s best friend.
I love that she wants Luke to start a family, that he’s not tied to them. She wants what’s best for him, even if it’s not what’s best for her. There are moments before she discovers her feelings that she thinks she wouldn’t want him to be with someone else, but it doesn’t bother me. She herself feels bad about thinking like that. And I think she thinks so because she was already in love with him, but she doesn’t dare admit it.
It hurt me to see how both of them feel bad about a betrayal that is not such. They didn’t act behind Troy’s back. They loved him, they were desolate after his death. They needed each other to start healing their wounds. It wouldn’t have hurt Troy if they were together. He entrusted Luke with the most important thing he had, Mia, who was the love of his life, and their future son. Who better than Luke to love Mia. And who better than her to love Luke, to make him feel again, to help him put his guilt behind him. Troy wouldn’t blame him for his death.
It also hurts that they both are so insecure, that they don’t value each other enough, that they don’t think they’re good enough for each other. They can see how good the other is, but not how they are. For example, Luke at the beginning of the book. He believed that he would never be as good as Troy, that it was he who should have died, that no one would miss him. How could he think that? If he had died, Troy would have missed him, and Mia and Emily too. Joe wouldn’t have had him in his life. Or Mia, who thinks she can’t do anything on her own, who depends on Luke for everything.
I loved their romance. It’s not ‘normal’, they don’t follow the same rhythm as other couples, but it’s not unusual. They are very close friends, they have shared their lives for a long time. I love how Luke lets her set the pace (because she’s the one who lost her husband, not because she’s a woman).
I love all the little details Luke had with Mia, like giving her flowers. He started doing it before he knew he loved her. And I love every time he calls her sweetheart.
Troy isn’t alive, but he’s just as much a protagonist as they are. They always keep it in mind, it’s part of their lives. I love that Luke wants Troy to be there, to be part of Joe’s life, not to forget him. And I love that Mia accepts that she doesn’t have to forget him to be with Luke. He didn’t want her to do it, and I love that she sees it.
I love Caleb. It’s not easy for him that his brother’s widow, who is a sister for him, and his best friend are together. But he accepts it because he sees them happy, and because he knows Troy would have approved (but not only for this).
I love Emily, who accepts them without hesitation, because she wants the best for them.
I can’t hate Everly, not when Luke and Mia don’t do it, but it’s hard not to.
At first I didn’t like Robert, but I loved the way he was honest with them. He accepted them.
I forgot to mention little Joe. He’s adorable.
A detail that I loved, that fits in the story. It didn’t need sex. I love the way their feelings are shown. Nothing more is needed.
I cried a lot, but I didn’t mind. I loved the story.
I received an arc from the author, and this is my honest review.
Mr. March is quite possibly my favourite so far in the Calendar Boys series. Packed with so much emotion, love, caring and sweetness Luke & Mia’s story was fantastic. Another ‘couldn’t put down’ read from Nicole S. Goodin, who keeps raising the bar with each instalment of this series.
Neither had had the best life over the last two years but they had each other – even if they looked at their ‘relationship’ differently.
Luke is all in as far as Mia is concerned and though he started out looking out for her as a promise to Troy, it wasn’t long before he was taking care of her because he was emotionally invested.
In Mia’s case, she has begun to see Luke as an important part of her life, even if she hasn’t looked at him as more than a good friend – until now.
This story was full of hope for the future and once this couple decided to move out of the friend-zone watching their relationship – and Luke’s love of Mia’s little boy – blossom, it was adorable!
A well deserved 5* read which I would certainly recommend
I absolutely loved every second of this book. It’s very moving will probably make you cry. But I still great job.
I really love this story!! It’s an emotional and tragic friends to much more story. Through sadness, grief and tragedy these two characters find best friends and love. I love Luke and Mia and of course who would not love the adorable Joe. I hate the loss they all suffered. So tragic! Such guilt! I think Troy knew what he was doing when he made Luke promise what he did. He would be happy of the outcome of this story. I loved it!!! I could not put the book down!! It’s well written and very captivating! I cannot wait to read the next “Calendar Boys” story!!
How do you cope with the death of your best friend? Mia and Luke are two such people.
Both struggling after the loss of Troy, Mia’s husband and Luke’s Best Friend, Luke made a lasting promise to his best friend – he would always be there and look after Mia and their newborn son Joe.
Mr March is a feel good read, a sweet romance. It tells the story of how love can conquer even through grief. Luke is all kinds of hotness.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Ms Goodin has created superb characters, that capture your imagination. A cracking 5 read!!!
This is another amazing book in the ‘Calendar Boys’ series – a real a solid read! It is quite the page turner and is easily read in one sitting. It is beautifully written, emotionally deep, and with a well-developed consistent engaging plot. An intriguing read of loss, healing, and moving on; it will grip you from beginning to end. The characters are loveable and very sweet. The chemistry between them is undeniable. Quite an enjoyable read and I highly recommend it. I look forward to the next book – Mr April. Luke thought the biggest problem he has he though it was hard watching his best friend die, but it’s harder knowing he has feelings for his wife. He never wanted to fall for Mia, but he knows the feelings aren’t going away.
When Mia rings panicked thinking there’s someone breaking in, Luke goes to protect her, but when Mia wants to forget the kiss happened after the calling Luke scared of a break in and Luke being the man he is say if she wants it’s forgotten.
Luke knows Mia is trying to pretend the kiss didn’t happen, but knowing she’s scared he’s been staying at her house, but finally she admits she can’t stop thinking about it, not the betrayal but that she liked it, he never meant to admit his feelings for her, but the way Mia looks at him and when she wants him to kiss her again he doesn’t hesitate and they agree to do what feels right for them.
After a visit from Troy’s parents doesn’t go well, Luke knows that Mia is thinking everything is wrong about them being together.
They both feel guilt at what they are doing Mia struggling with feeling like she’s betraying Troy even though he’s been gone for two years, and Luke feeling like he’s stealing his best friend’s family. Can they move past the guilt to be happy together and realise it’s what Troy would have wanted.
