My kids and I love Mr Hoopeyloops! My kids were on the emotional journey with the rest of the town, thinking he was weird and then finding out how special he was. They talked about him and made up stories about him for two days after we first read it.
This is a very good children’s book. I read it to my young child and she was into more than i ever seen her into any other book.
It has one kind if plot but then it had a twist throughout the story.
This is a must for every child to read.
I enjoyed this story and the lesson it teaches. The author sets up a contrasting picture of a town that appears neat and perfect. All the houses are the same and the occupants of the town seem to fit in the same mold. Mr. Hoopeyloops stands in sharp contrast. He lives in an odd house with an odd barn and drives an old truck. When he visits the town, Mr. Hoopeyloops likes to stare through the Supply Store windows and admire the glass. Then he drives back to his home after filling his old truck with sand and pipes. One day, after a period of time, Mr. Hoopeyloops sends an invitation to all the members of the town with a question mark on the cover. When the town arrives and he opens the barn door, the visitors marvel at what he has displayed inside. From that day on, they treated him with respect and dignity.
The book helps children realize that being different is not necessarily a bad thing. Each of us has special talents and something to contribute. While the book is targeted for ages three to five and the illustrations are certainly appropriate for that age group, some of the sentences are long and difficult for a young child to master. Parents might want to shorten them if reading to a young child. The Glass Blowing history at the end of the tale is an added bonus.
This book had potential to be more but the plot was shallow and the characters as well.
My 4 yr old grandson loved it.
Mr. Hoopeyloops teaches everyone in town to look at things differently!
This book adds a new twist to “Don’t judge a book by its cover”.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this title, but it intrigued me! Was this a children;s book about a drunk for goodness sakes? Or was it more likely about someone who had an awesome spyglass? Wrong on both counts, but this was a fun children’s book with a good story told on one page and a colorful illustration on the next, and so it went.
Mr Hoopeyloops was an odd sort of a guy who liked to retreat into his barn with bags of sand, and sometimes pipes. At other times he would drive around and make comments about the details of places he visited in town – like nice windows or pretty bowls. When other people weren’t pointing at him they were ignoring him. But he certainly was up to something and they were about to find out what!
This was a nice, educational read about a topic rarely covered in children’s books, and it had plenty to interest and intrigue young readers. You can play guessing games about what Mr Hoopeyloops is up to. I recommend it.

Loved it. Fun mystery with a message or two.
Wonderful story that teaches children to take the time to look around at the magnificent work they live in. My 5 year old loved it.
It was a good read for our daughter.
Nice story for children with beautiful illustrations.
fun
I think the story would have been good, maybe, I gave up trying to read it because the words and pictures are all on separate pages. Poor kindle format
