This is how my story was supposed to go… too.
And we were in the most dangerous of places.
Vegas.
Sipping on crazy drinks.
And coming up with insane plans.
Losing my V-card to Brenden after a drunken night was acceptable.
But waking up married to him?
What in the world was I thinking?
Was I even thinking?
I thought this was my biggest nightmare.
But the worst part of my story?
That was yet to come.

Mr. Big Mistake by J.P. Comeau is the second book in the Kinda Cocky Series. It is a very enjoyable read but I recommend you read book one, Mr. Big Shot, first because the book features characters we met previously in that book.
Kelly and Brenden have known each other since college. Kelly has been attracted to him since college and Brenden has wanted Kelly since college as well. Brenden was very popular with the ladies and always some hanging around him so Kelly declined all of his advances. Kelly’s refusal of his advances did a number on his ego so he played the part of a playboy to hide true self. They remained friends for years, often partying together at the club often. Brenden paraded one woman after another in front of Kelly who still quietly pined after him.
One day while talking with her sister Roxy and best friend Karina, from book 1, she blurted out that she was still a virgin. Roxy and Karina decided Kelly needed to take care of her problem. They decided she needed to use Brenden’s older brother Clint to lose her virginity. Once Brenden learned about this plan, he made a plan of his own. Brenden’s plans do not usually go well and expected this to be a Comedy of errors and I wasn’t too far off.
The story has a lot of humorous and funny elements as well heartbreaking ones. You get “all the feels” as well as the requisite HEA. It is a very enjoyable read. I could not put it down, I wanted to see what came next. This book should make you a Comeau fan if you are not already one. I look forward to Roxy’s story that I assume will be next.
A real gem! A great storyline and captivating characters that I loved reading about. Loved the bond between Brenden and Kelly. Would love to read more about this couple.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a interesting and entertaining story with Kelly and Brenden who met in college and now when her sisters are trying to get her some sexual experience they set her up with his brother. Brenden is not going to let that happen so he does everything he can to ruin the date because he has feelings for Kelly. His hair brained idea to have a fake marriage backfires and now they are married for real. This is a unusual story line and along with the characters makes for a great read.
Brenden is rich and a playboy, but he has always wanted to take Kelly out on a date since their college days, she has turned him down every time.
Kelly is setting up her own fashion label and is busy working on that, she goes out on dates but never passes a third date, she knows why but no one else does, until she blurts it’s out over lunch with her sister Roxy and best friend Karina. They both try to help with her problem but Brenden steps in and ruins those plans.
He has a better idea, a fake marriage, then romance and just let things happen, except things don’t go to plan and they end up being ordered to live together for a month! Unbeknown to the other they start to fall in love, but knowing it’s only for a month, they don’t say anything. As always somethings goes wrong and Kelly sees something and puts two and two together and gets five!
Can Brenden prove that she was wrong, or is it too late?
Fun and enjoyable
Kelly has a problem, she thinks. Seems she’s still a virgin and believes it’s the reason that she hasn’t been able to have a long-term relationship. She thinks that if she could just get rid of that pesky virginity her relationship problems would be solved. That’s when she approaches her friend Brendan’s brother. No strings, just sex.
When Brendan hears about what Kelly has offered his brother, he’s livid. He’s liked her since college but she’s rejected him because of his player reputation. Which is justly earned. He approaches her with a counter offer, let him “do the deed,” but he’ll set up a fake wedding and honeymoon to make her more comfortable. It’s Vegas after all, what could go wrong?
