He’s tortured and dark, angsty and arrogant. You want the truth? He’s kind of an A-hole. He’s also the CEO. Everything in my life goes according to plan, and that’s the way I like it. I got the degree. I got the job. Now I just need to prove that I have what it takes to succeed in the real world. If there’s one thing that’s not in my plans, it’s falling in love with my boss. Most relationships … falling in love with my boss.
Most relationships don’t start with one person calling the other out in public for being an arrogant jerk. Then again, most CEOs don’t cut their own employees in line at the coffeehouse and bark orders at people like they own the place.
Maybe pissing Oliver Cody off isn’t the right move. And now that he’s part of my world, all my plans go straight to hell.
This sexy standalone novel includes an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

Oliver Cody left everything he knew behind in search of himself, but after a devastating blow, he is more lost than ever.
Holland O’Dell has a plan. She has a list to check off and she needs to stick to it to feel in control of her life.
I thought this book was charming. The characters drew me in and I was hooked until the very last page. Did I want to junk punch Ollie at times? Yep. Did I want to slap some sense into Holland? Yep, I wanted to do that too. I loved that Holland, for the most part, was a strong, independent woman. She was in charge of her own destiny and she was going to take the world by storm. Ollie was a sad, lost man. He needed a kick to the head and Holland was just the girl to deliver that blow.
Overall, I thought the storyline was a great concept. Ms. Stewart put a smart, driven heroine together with a CEO with the need to feel like he makes a difference and it worked.
Oliver and Holland are totally made for each, they just have no idea. Oliver is sorting out his own life, when he has to unexpected come back to run the family business. Holland is wicked smart and tries to land her dream job at Cody Tech – but gender inequality in the workplace isn’t going to allow that to happen. She takes accepts a job there in the hopes of eventually moving up, but before she can do that, she needs to deal with Oliver – or he needs to deal with Holland. They both have aspirations, and drama in their past that could mire that.
It’s a quick fun read. It took a little time for me to get to like Oliver, but I got over it pretty quickly. The are totally combustible together. Throw in a little bit of drama from the past, a little bit of current drama, and a lot of steam.
“This kiss wasn’t like any other I’d shared. It had a life of its own, and it surged and expanded…” So, our hero Oliver, isn’t as much of an a**hole as he claims. Oliver has had a life of privilege, there is no denying that. While he tries to discover himself, he loses everything held dear to him. His life is turned upside down when he learns things weren’t as them seemed to be. Holland, our spirited and determined heroine, doesn’t put up with his foul mood, his bitterness or anything negative he wants to throw out to everyone. She has had a rough road, but is determined to continue to move her life up. She warms Oliver from the inside out and he sees what can be.
As things start to come together, and unravel as well, they have to make decisions to come together with the changes that happen or come apart at the seams.
I enjoyed the push and pull of the characters and their relationship. As always, Delancey Stewart’s writing is on point as she brings us into her characters’ world!
Mr. Big was a disappointment. I was expecting a super sexy office romance where the sexy alpha CEO sweeps his employee off her feet. And in a sense that’s what happened. It’s the execution that was lacking. Holland has a plan for her life, a literal plan with boxes to be checkmarked and everything. She meets Hale (Oliver) at the coffeeshop of her office’s building when he rudely cuts in front of the line she’s in. When she confronts him and lays into him, I was excited because I figured it was a foreshadowing of the way their relationship would end up going. Alas, though, that’s not how it ended up being.
Instead, what I got was a dreary, never ending mess of sadness and a general sense of bleakness. There was no joy between Oliver and Holland, none at all. She wasn’t sassy and feisty like in the beginning. Oliver stayed true to form, though, and was a giant douche for most of it, until the very end. I found nothing appealing about Oliver. So what that he had a very specific issue with his parents and a secret they kept from him? Seriously, SO WHAT?!? It wasn’t anything bad or terrible and I honestly don’t see what the big deal was. I myself have the same relationship to my family that he does and trust me, it’s not a bad thing at all, in fact, it’s the opposite – it’s a great thing and gave me a life that I couldn’t have hoped to have had otherwise. And when Oliver deserted Holland at a crucial time in her life? Yeah, douchebag is too kind of a word for him. That he didn’t come around until the very end says a lot about his character, a lot that’s not good.
Seriously, this book did nothing good for me. It’s boring, bleak and I didn’t like either Oliver or Holland. Oliver because he’s a douche and Holland because she’s boring and regimented. I was hoping for lots of sexy, an alpha with a heart of gold and a feisty heroine, and I didn’t get it.
Oliver Cody had it all. He helped found a tech company with his father and was incredibly successful . . .but he was bored. He decides to walk away and explore what he wanted in life for a few months. He was enjoying traveling and partying his way around the globe when he got a call that would change his life forever.
Holland O’Dell has had to work hard for everything in her life. She knows she has what it takes to move up in the ranks at Cody Technology . . . she just needs to prove herself in the male dominated company. She has a plan for reaching her goals, and deviating from that plan and falling for the asshole CEO that runs her company is definitely not on her checklist.
When first impressions prove to be untrue and trusts are broken, can two people who weren’t looking for a relationship find a way to come together when both are dragged down by insecurities and baggage from their past to reach a future they have both dreamed about their entire lives?
Delancey Stewart did an amazing job of creating a cast of sassy, intelligent and complex characters in Mr. Big. I found the story to be very unique and the characters extremely relatable. First impressions can be changed and successful people can have deep insecurities holding them back.
This book really delivers a great plot with a sexy, brooding CEO who is forced back into the boardroom before he is ready and a sassy and spirited heroine whose ideas just may save the company. Can they save each other, though?
The plot is fast moving and contains some smoking hot scenes and extremely snarky dialogue, which I loved! This was my first book by Delancey Stewart, but it will not be my last. 5 stars for Mr. Big!
It had so much potential but it’s too difficult to like Oliver once he leaves Holland alone for most of her pregnancy.
I really enjoyed this book. I hope to try some of her other books.
Mr. Big was a good read. I enjoyed both Oliver and Holland’s characters and I enjoyed their back and forth banter. I also enjoyed quite a few laughs while reading this story. I could understand how from Holland’s view, her image and what she accomplished would be seen as something else. Oliver didn’t care, but I wanted him to be a bit more understanding and I also wanted Holland to see where he was coming from. I didn’t really care for Holland forgiving him so easily. I wanted to see him beg a little for her forgiveness, she deserved it after everything she had to go through on her own, but I enjoyed the ending and the story overall. Would I recommend this book? Yes. It was a little predictable but it was a good read even though I didn’t agree with the way the characters let simple things turn into huge somethings. I enjoyed it and I’m sure other readers will.
Holland O’Dell is trying to make her mark in the world, a man’s world. She knows she can do it, she just needs to get her foot in the door. Not one to easily trust another, she finds herself leaning more than she’s comfortable with on the broody, surfer she met in the company coffee house.
Oliver Cody thought he had things figured out, his life, his career, his identity, then his world crashed around him. He’s angry and anyone within a 10 foot radius bears the brunt of it until he meets a very feisty, guarded girl in the coffee house. He can’t stay away from her though he knows it is under false pretenses.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I was hooked by the beginning and curious as to where the story was heading. I greatly appreciated Holland’s independent streak even when she knew she should rely on another. She wasn’t easily swayed. My heart wept for Oliver and his circumstances and I was happy he was able to move past his mental roadblocks to achieve a greater life.
I would recommend this book to a friend and I look forward to reading more by this author.
