Fast, furious, and flirty, Lynette Eason’s relentless suspense barely gives her readers time to catch their breath in this third thrilling installment of the Elite Guardians series.

Moving Target by Lynette Eason is a thrilling contemporary Christian crime suspense that I just could not put down. It is the third book in the Elite Guardians series but can be read as a stand-alone.
The atmosphere is one of terror, suspicion and suspense. A serial killer is playing a dangerous game and is the master of disguise and illusion. The game is deadly. I read with heart in my mouth.
The past is haunting a character who cannot let go of guilt. “When was the last time he’d felt peace?” The character has withdrawn from God. It is only God who can give us a peace that lasts in spite of circumstances.
Anger at God’s seeming inability to step in and prevent hurt, has kept a character from God. “He… thought about approaching the God he’d given up on long ago.” Ultimately a character knows that God will never give up on us and is just waiting for us to return home to Him.
Prayer is vital. “He wasn’t sure if God would still hear his prayers.” God always hears and delights in our prayers.
There are times when we cannot see God at work but “God works behind the scenes even when we don’t think He is.”
Revenge and jealousy are terrible masters. A character is fueled by them with appalling consequences.
The Elite Guardians work together as one. They have each other’s backs as they offer support and solve crimes.
Lynette Eason is the master of the suspense novel. I thoroughly enjoyed Moving Target. The Elite Guardians is a fabulous series. I am on to the final book now.
I received a copy of the book from the publishers. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.
This is the third book in the Elite Guardians series. It is a fast paced book where you never know what is going to happen next! I stayed up late in the night reading to figure out how it ended!
Lynette Eason is one of my favorite romantic suspense authors. She knows what the readers want and she doesn’t let me down. I have read everything that Eason has printed, and I don’t regret my discussion. She always gets me with her suspense and a hint of romanc, but has me begging for more.
Eason is at the top of her game in her writing. She creates realistic settings and allows it to explode in my mind. I have no problem anchoring myself in the setting. In Moving Target, she places me on an island for a while, and I can feel the ocean breeze and hear the rustle of the wind through the leaves. Speaking of writing, Eason does a great job at using concise writing where she invites me into the character’s point of view and completely understand their hurts and pains.
One of my favorite elements of Moving Target is the plot. With a little mixture of Hunger Games, Eason created an unique suspense story that kept me on my toes the whole time. I didn’t want to put the story down. Every time I believed I had a break in the story, Eason upped the anty and made me want to turn the page to the next chapter. She really knows how to create a non-stop action story that I had a hard time putting down.
One of my favorite thing about Eason’s romantic suspense is that she downplays the romance. Don’t get me wrong. It is there but subtle, which I really enjoy when I spend time in a romantic suspense novel. I want more of the suspense than the romance. In Moving Target, the romance between Maddy and Quinn has been forthcoming, and it was nice to see it come to fortuation. Even though the ending to their romance was completely cliché.
Maddy and Quinn both have issues with their families, and this plot helped both of them solve those underlying family issues. Maddy and Quinn are both threaten a number of times, but they are both brave characters who don’t let the villains get the best of them. I adore them for that.
Moving Target is a unique and totally unpredictable novel that I enjoyed spending time with. The research into the crime scene investigators and other police task force run seamless and felt completely real. The spiritual element is there, but it’s part of what makes Maddy who she is. She doesn’t force it on anyone. Moving Target is a great novel for fans of suspense like Irene Hannon, Brandilyn Collins, Kathy Herman, or Christy Barritt. I highly recommend Moving Target.
In conclusion, Lynette Eason’s third installment in her Elite Guardian’s series, Moving Target, is an unique, fast moving story with light romance and characters who beg to finally tell their story. I really can’t wait to read the final installment, Chasing Secrets.
I received a complimentary copy of Lynette Eason’s Moving Target from Revell Publishing and the opinions stated are all my own.
This villain was just creepy. The suspense was strong but the romance took the edge off. I really enjoyed this story. 4 1/2 stars – Full review is at my website.
I received this book complimentary in a giveaway. I was not required to give a review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are my own.
The third book in the Elite Guardian series was good, but not my favorite. The beginning of the book reminded me of The Hunger Games, which is fine in a dystopian future, but I struggled with it in this kind of setting.
Once they leave the island though, it gets much better. Lynette is an amazing story-weaver.
“Moving Target”, the third book in the Elite Guardians Agency Series, was a very suspenseful romance. Maddy McKay, a former FBI agent and now a bodyguard at Elite Guardians is a friend of Quinn Holcombe (police detective). Maddy has been regularly visiting Quinn in the hospital after he was badly injured in events which occurred in “Without Warning” (Book 2). He is finally released from the hospital. Quinn and Maddy don’t show up for his “surprise” birthday party. His friends start searching for Quinn and Maddy when neither one shows up for the party. They can not find them!
Quinn and Maddy wake up in a cement room with no idea where they are located. As events unfold, Maddy realizes that they are in the clutches of a mad man who is exacting revenge by “hunting” them. They run for their lives, hoping to outwit the killer and possibly take him down before he kills them! Relentless suspense! Impossible to put the book down! Highly recommend this book to all readers.
