I love Ava’s books, and Mourning Star is a fantastic read! It’s part of the Funeral Fakers series, and I’ve read all of them! You’ll enjoy getting to know Viviana Romero, so check out Mourning Star now!
Another good book in the Funeral Fakers series. In this book, Viviana Romero, a big telenovela star, has come to Ashville to reclaim the money and property her husband stole from her. She takes on a gig as a professional mourner, but ends up in the midst of a lot of family drama, much like a soap opera. This was a fun book to read as it felt like you were in a real-life soap opera with the dead husband and all the ex-wives and children fighting over the money. I’m looking forward to reading the final book in this series!
Mourning Star is not my favourite book in this series. It is an ok story and is amusing in places but for me it was just too confusing. I want to be entertained when I read and I don’t want to work that hard trying to keep up with the plethora of characters (way too many) and who said or did what. It’s a clean, cozy mystery but just not for me. This is only my opinion so I suggest you make up your own mind.
Great characters!
Good humor, likable characters.
The main character Vivanna was likable. It was a fun pleasant read, but as others have said, too many characters and at times a tad confusing. I did enjoy reading, but the story was weaker than others have been in the series. I liked the premise of this book. It had the potential to be one of the best but the confusion made the storyline weak. The humor was strong. I definitely think it is worth a read just don’t let your expectation be too high, but it was still fun.
I volunteered to read an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
If you love this genre this is a must read. I volunteered to read an advance copy for an honest review.
Viviana, a telenovela actress, fly to Ashville to find her husband and the money he stole from her. Meanwhile she will work as a mourner faker in Oscar ‘s funeral, a millionaire with too many wifes and children. Can Viviana solve the mystery of Oscar’s death and solve all her problems? An hilarious story.
This was not my favorite in the series. Thrre were too many characters especially at the start. I couldn’t keep track of who was who. It got better but I was not sure how Vivianna discovered who murdered Oscar. It was like she pulled it out of thin air. It is still worth the read but not my favorite in the series.
WOW!!! Intriguing and interesting to read. Bet the author had a ball writing this!!! Sense of humor shows which I love!!!! Busted my gutt few times within the book!!! A MUST READ!!
