Hank Smith saved my life, carrying me through a blizzard to his mountain cabin. He doesn’t like strangers, and he doesn’t like leaving his sanctuary. Now I’m trapped here with him until the snow melts. I see him looking at me. He tries to hide behind a gruff exterior, but I see the longing and the heat burning in his eyes. I know he wants me, and I can’t resist him. I want to feel those big, … those big, rough hands all over my body.
But once he’s unleashed his raw, barely tried desire on me, will I be able to leave my mountain man behind, or will he make me his?
Warning: The Smith Brothers are not just identical twins, they’re big, burly, bearded, insanely hot mountain men. They’re also sweet, and very, very dirty. Did I mention dirty?

Wow, Birdie is saved by a sweet, sexy, hunky of a mountainman named Hank! They are trapped together due to a snowstorm and while together they fall in love. But each has had issues in the past and it gives them pause and doubts. But when the storm has ended and Birdie goes home, can they live without each other? Loved the ending and I can’t wait to read Beau’s story!
A GoodReads friend of mine wrote an awesome review for Solitary Man that had me running off to Kindle to grab it. But when I saw it was the third in the series and the first one was free I figured I may as well start there.
Mountain Man felt a little like an Alexa Riley novel. It had the insta love I enjoy, along with a little bit of drama that’s not really drama. And a growling, sweet hero who’s been basically solitary forever.
Both characters were cute and easy to like. There wasn’t any real drama and it was only a short read. The only thing I can say is make sure you don’t read it in public because there’s a lot of really hot sex scenes. Other than that dive in now.
The sweetness of Hank makes my teeth hurt. He was so vulnerable and I found it so sweet and gentle as well as endearing. A person can love to be alone yet still be lonely for the one that you can be alone with. I adore Hank and it was refreshing to have a hero that was unsure of hisself with a gentle spirit and not a over the top alphahole. This is my first book by this author ad I really enjoyed it. My only complaint is that it was to short because I wanted more time to savor the story. Until next time y’all happy reading.
Enjoyed reading this story
Cash is the cousin of Hank and Beu from the first two books. Once his parents died he has been on his own. He wants to find a woman to share his life so he puts an ad online seeking a wife. Riley needs to get out of the city and when she comes across Cash picture she knows he is the right guy. The two exchange emails and when they meet in person the sparks fly between them. Cash has to tell Riley he’s a virgin. Riley doesn’t care she will help him out. A really good read.

Really quick read. Plot was good. Plus, I’m definitely a sucker for isolated mountain men romances. I enjoyed that Hank was extremely inexperienced and that Birdie knew what she wanted. It was hot and sweet and glad there was a happily ever after.
Only downside is that it needed more drama and suspense.
3.5 stars–MOUNTAIN MAN is the first instalment in Sherilee Gray’s contemporary adult SMITH BROTHERS erotic, romance series of novellas. This is twenty –seven year old Hank Smith, and library employee Birdie Winters’ story line.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Hank and Birdie) MOUNTAIN MAN follows the building relationship between twenty –seven year old Hank Smith, and Birdie Winters. Like his twin brother Beau, Hank Smith lives alone on the side of a mountain but an injured hiker finds Hank rescuing Birdie Winters, the woman with whom our hero will fall in love. What ensues in the quick building romance and relationship between Birdie and Hank, and the potential fall-out as Birdie’s time on the mountain draws to a close.
Hank Smith has lived alone most of his adult life having very limited experience with the opposite $ex. With Birdie Winters by his side, our hero quickly succumbs to passion and the art of seduction, falling for the woman who is about to break his heart. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to Hank’s brother Beau, but otherwise, the story line focuses on our couple and nothing else.
MOUNTAIN MAN is a quick read; a story of intense attraction, and one man’s fantasies that have come true. The world building and character building are limited although Hank discovers that life without Birdie is painful and wrong. The fast paced premise is entertaining; the romance is spicy; the characters are colorful and energetic.
I loved this sizzling hot story!
A big, bearded, sexy AF mountain man who doesn’t like people, who’d rather be alone.
A beautiful, curvy, traveling soul who never stays in one place very long.
She gets injured, and stranded on a snowy mountain during a hike, he rescues her and takes her back to his cabin. (I’m kind of a sucker for the damsel in distress, stranded in the snow, rescued and taken to a cabin story.)
I felt their chemistry, I craved their passion, I was rooting hard for them. I loved these two together.
Hank was growly, gruff, a man of few words. But my goodness, beautiful Birdie made him want. She was the face of his fantasy girl.
This author made me feel everything in this sexy sexy novella. I didn’t want to put this down until I finished. I am amazed at how quickly I fell for Hank. I fell HARD! Even though this a shorter story, I felt I knew him, and cared for him, and wanted him to be happy and loved. And I loved, loved, loved his deliciously filthy mouth.
This was my first book by this author and I can’t wait to read more!!
Hank has a twin brother, Beau, and his story is next! Yes, please.
MOUNTAIN MAN is a standalone read with a happy ever after. It is sexy as all get out so if that is an issue, better pass on this one. Setting is on top of a mountain in a remote cabin. Birdie has got separated from her hiking group, sprains her ankle, and is afraid she will freeze to death before they can find her.
Enter Hank, the mountain man. A big brute of a guy well over 6′ and just as wide with long hair and a beard. He finds Birdie just about frozen and takes her back to his cabin. He warms her up the quickest way he knows how. He strips them both and crawls into bed with her. She wakes up to discover she is naked and the guy in bed with her sleeping away is also naked.
Hank is not your usual mountain man. He was raised on the mountain, only going into town every 2-3 months when he needs supplies. He has zero experience with women. He knows what he would like to do but he doesn’t really know how to go about it. For fear of embarrassing himself he tries to avoid Birdie as much as possible.
Birdie on the other hand has the hots for Hank and she takes all the worry out of his hands and takes control of the situation. There is a lot of sex once Hank discovers he knows more than he thought he did.
This is a great love story. Hank is a gentle giant and you can’t help but love him and want him to get the lady of his dreams. Great story and I highly recommend it.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 7/23/2020
Wonderful characters! I fell in love with this book!
This book was awfully good! The scene when Hank and Birdie first “meet” is so funny! The relationship that develops between them is darling to watch. And as things heat up in the cabin, the love scenes just keep getting better and juicier. The main thing that I didn’t like was needless amount of angst and trauma caused for both of them (and the reader!) near the end, just because neither of them dared to tell the other what they were thinking and feeling. But everything resolves itself well in the end, at least; thanks in no small part to Hank’s twin brother Beau (whose story I can’t wait to read in Wild Man).
When Birdie wakes up in the arms of a nearly naked mountain man she thinks she has died and gone to heaven, his body is made up of all the things women dream about, and she is currently enraptured in it… and loving every minute of it. She knows it’s not smart to fall for a handsome stranger you know nothing about, but she can also see a kindness in his eyes that tells her she is right where she is supposed to be. Maybe, just maybe, this is the best thing to ever happen to her…
Hank Smith has chosen to live a solitary life in the mountains, and while he loves every minute of it, he also has moments of loneliness, moments that have him dreaming of a beautiful woman that shares this life with him. What he wouldn’t give to find her and make his dreams a reality…
Mountain Man is a scorching little fairy tale that is sure to conjure up some naughty little thoughts, and some serious swooning… WOW what a read!! If there has ever been a time when I was jealous of a heroine, this would have to be the time…Hank is the walking, talking, fantasy every woman wishes they could happen upon. The moment he appeared on the page I was completely enamored with him, his kind eyes held a story of loneliness and loss, and his actions of kindness were downright admirable, and his ability to show his strength, but also his weaknesses gave him a vulnerable, yet confident feel. I loved the time I spent with him and Birdie, their story was very sexy, but also very emotional, and touching… have to say definitely one of my favorites from Ms. Gray!!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
