With a murderer on the loose, will their love survive?
Hailey Taylor knows ski racing, and it’s paid off, because she’s a champion. The top of her game. Until she wiped out last season and blew out her knee. Her body may have recovered, but her head’s not back in the game. Meeting Lucas Mills doesn’t help, because the instant connection they share is just too good to ski away from. And when Lucas … from. And when Lucas is game for getting his best friend in on their bed sport? Hailey’s ready to play.
Lucas is in love with Hailey. He’s all in, from the first moment he sees her. But he knows he’s not perfect, not with his PTSD from being deployed. He wants to make sure she’s got someone watching out for her, besides him. Because the one thing he’s learned between war and the murder of his sister, bad things can happen.
Cy Seaborn’s dad is a piece of sh—work. He walked away from his family when Cy was a kid, forcing his mom to work two jobs to make ends meet, to leave their house and live with his grandparents. He hasn’t heard or seen from him since. Until the man falsely admits to killing Erin Mills—his best friend’s sister. Cy has no idea why his father did it, and neither do the detectives working the case or the reporters who’ve been hounding him. He’s wary. Jaded.
All three are scarred. Damaged, outside and in. Lucas wants it all, but doesn’t think he’s enough. Cy’s not worthy of a woman like Hailey, tainted by his father’s bad blood. And Hailey? The only commitment she’s known is to her sport and all that’s gotten her is loneliness and injury. What if they let her fall? Can her heart recover?
And most of all…with a murderer roaming Cutthroat, will they survive?

Can three scarred hearts survive long enough to win it all
I really enjoyed the path the author took us on with this book. There is a lot of excitement and danger happening behind the scenes in this book. But throughout it all, these three characters are building something to last. They don’t even seem to realize how much they are helping them each get through their issues. The three of them manage to find their way to each other with an amazing ending that you won’t want to miss.
Mountain Delights by Vanessa Vale is book 2. This picks up from book one “Mountain Darkness” and the mystery of the murder of Erin Mills. The 2nd book needs to be read after book 1 because this is an continuing saga, and book 2 has new main characters for this one : Lucas, Cy, and Hailey. Hailey and Luke are a couple who get together with Cy. It’s steamy, mysterious, raw ,intense and quick. The mystery is with the continuation of the murder mystery and trying to find who the murderer is. Loved Hailey, Cy and Lucas together. Can’t wait for book 3!!
My Rating: 4.5 stars ******
I had a hard time getting into what was happening in the beginning but once you do, this story just rocks and rolls. Hailey is so brave. She just knows what she wants and needs then she goes for it. The mystery continues to deepen around Erin’s death. A story that has everything you need to stay engaged and excited.

Hailey Taylor, a ski racer, is dating Luke. Luke is not feeling well he has PTSD and his sister has been murdered. Cy has been wondering all the time why his father confessed to be the murder of Luke’s sister, so he lives like a hermit. Only when Lucas and Hailey are playing for his best friend on their bed sport? Hailey’s ready to play. And Cy tries too.
So they come together. Three broken souls looking for love. It’s not easy to open up your heart to someone else when you don’t know yourself properly. And … the killer is around.
I like the books of Vanessa Vale. Her style of writing has a great recognition value. And their Ménage a Trois scenarios are unique and hot. This book is more seriously than others, the erotic moments are even a bit in the background and are in part only hinted. The murder draws like a red thread through the books and keeps the tension high.
For me this is one of her best books.
Whoa baby! The story is heating up. This is Lucas Mills’ story and part of it still centers around his sister Erin. If you read the first book we get mentions of Kit and see Nix. In this story, I love that it immediately starts with Lucas and Hailey moving into the type of relationship they want with Cy. So many connections that it keeps the story going and interesting and the steam just makes it all the better. I can’t wait for more!
A quick, sexy read with an angsty undertone and a mystery that will keep you glued to your kindle. I can never get enough of Vale’s sexy, bossy men but this may be my favorite series by her so far. I fell in love with Hailey, Cy and Lucas from the start and couldn’t put their story down.
While Mountain Delights can be read as a stand alone I do recommend you read the first one before you pick this one up. You won’t regret it.
OMG! That ending! I’m absolutely amazed! This book started off kind of abrasive. Definitely not the kind of female lead I’m used to, Hailey is a take no crap, say what she thinks kind of girl. Sort of rubbed me the wrong way. But it didn’t take long until I figured out why she is that way, and I started to like her cheekiness!
Hailey’s life is at a crossroads. As a championship ski racer, she had an injury that she is still recovering from, and it’s time for her to make some decisions. Where does she want life to go from here? Does she want to stay on the path she’s been on, or forge a new one with the guys that have captured her heart? Does she open herself up to them, or protect herself by keeping it “just for fun”?
This book was all about “fun” until it wasn’t. There were some serious things going on in the background of the story, but at the heart of it, their story was just that. Their story. It was all about love, and standing by each other when life get rough. And I just can’t get over that ending! It was absolutely amazing! I can’t wait to find out what comes next, because if that ending is anything to go by, it is going to be spectacular!
You know when you start reading a book and fall in love with the characters immediately – happened to me with this one. Hailey, fearless; Cy, so defensive and scarred; and Lucas, who seems the most together of the lot (but who isn’t). While the second in an ongoing murder mystery, this can be read as a standalone, but you won’t want to stop here, and, if you missed its predecessor, you’ll want to go back to read it.
I really liked the way Vanessa Vale develops Hailey’s character particularly, showing her realizing what she wants to do about her career, agonizing over breaking the news to her parents and coach, and then Vale allowing us to watch as the breaking news implodes. There are so many revelations for all three characters, each betrayed to their core at some point, and each redeemed through their relationship and its truths.
Now I need to know more about the murder, please!
I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
Champion skier Hailey Taylor finds herself at a crossroads in life. She’s been skiing and racing since the age of four. But, after an accident on the slopes blows out her knee, she’s enjoying laying low in Cutthroat while she decides what to do next with her life. Should she start training for next season or is she ready to start exploring life off of the slopes . . . especially now that she has met Lucas Mills.
Lucas Mills knew he wanted Hailey from the moment he saw her at a charity event. But, he also knew that with his PTSD from being deployed as well as his sister’s murder, he isn’t enough for Hailey. He wants someone watching out for her when he can’t, which is why when Hailey suggests she was interested in a menage, Lucas immediately thinks to being his best friend Cyrus into his relationship, and for more than just a night. He’s hoping for a polyamourous forever.
Rancher Cy Seaborn has had a rough deal lately, especially when his deadbeat father tried turning himself in for murdering his best friend’s sister . . . a murder he didn’t commit. He’s wary of everyone’s motives and doesn’t feel worthy of what Lucas and Hailey are offering. But, he also can’t say no.
With all three individuals carrying so much baggage, can they possibly find their happy ever after? Of, and don’t forget, there’s still a murderer on the loose!
I really enjoyed this mix of characters. Hailey is so sassy and confident, knowing exactly what type of relationship she wants. But, she’s also vulnerable when it comes to knowing what she wants professionally, especially after her accident.
I loved that Lucas chose to follow his own path rather than the one his wealthy parents tried to force him along. He’s made his own way and now helps other vets with PTSD. He’s also stuck by his best friend even when the going got rough, never blaming him for his father’s actions. Cy is a bit more cynical and mistrusting than Lucas, and for good reason. But, I love how Hailey breaks down his walls. I also love how Lucas and Cy are foils to one another, Lucas being the sweet one and Cy being much more domineering . . .both offering Hailey something she needs in a relationship.
Mountain Delights was a great read and I loved getting to know more about what is happening in Cutthroat, especially Lucas, Cy and Hailey! While Erin’s murder is mentioned, however, it really isn’t the main focus of this story so I’m dying to know more about who the killer may be and if they’ll strike again. 4 stars.
Two are definitely better than one in this short tale of love in the mountains. I mean really who wouldn’t want two strong, devoted mountain men?

This is a quick tale of healing and finding love that may not be traditional but is exactly what each character needs. Lucas the broken vet that suffers from PTSD and is estranged from his family. Lucas also has also recently lost his sister. Cy, the town pariah when his absentee father confesses to killing his best friend, Lucas’ sister. Hailey, a professional ski racer, who recently had a terrible accident and no longer knows what she wants out of the bedroom (she sure does know what she wants in the bedroom).
.
There are some hot times in this book, but this more than a polyamorous book. This is a book about healing, learning to love and trust, and letting go of the past. There is a little suspense involved too. This book has it all in a neat little package.
.
My only issue is it is standalone-ish, meaning the couple has an HEA but there is an underlying story that doesn’t get resolved in the book. That frustrates me, as I am not a fan of cliffhangers.
.
Did I enjoy this story? Will I recommend? this is a great book to curl up on a cold Sunday afternoon because it will definitely get you warmed up. I look forward to discovering the solution to the underlying story and will keep reading! Happy reading and cheers!
Loved the story of Hailey, Cy and Lucas. It is well written, entertaining and holds your attention. Recovered from a skiing accident, Hailey meets Lucas and the attraction is instant. Lucas, who suffers from PTSD, wants to share Hailey with his best friend Cy so that she will always be protected. The attraction between the three of them is intense and erotic and eventually becomes the most important thing to all three of them. There is a mystery in this series, who killed Erin Mills and it is still not revealed at this point. This is a great love story and I would highly recommend it.
The thing that I’m loving about this series is that this book has its only standalone story, with the larger overlying mystery as a background note. Everyone is interconnected because it’s a small town, but they all have their own lives. Cy and Lucas had grown up together, and then Lucas and Hailey were a couple for a few weeks before bringing Cy into the mix. They help each other work through personal problems and heal. I am totally interested in the murder and need to know who it was, so I’m going to need the next story soon, ok??
Omg! I’m loving this series!
Hailey, Cy and Lucas are fantastic together! Their attraction was instant and their chemistry was explosive! They complete each other! It’s a steamy, emotional read with drama, danger, mystery and suspense. There are twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. The mystery of who killers Lucas’s sister Erin hasn’t been solved yet. Mountain Delights is a wonderful romantic suspense love story! I can’t wait for the next book!
I thought that this was an excellent read and a terrific addition to this series. I felt captivated by the relationship that evolved between Lucas, Hailey and Cy. One of the things I found most compelling about this book was that each of the characters was complex, wounded and had emotional baggage. It really warmed my heart to witness these three finding love and happiness together. This steamy, emotional and swoon worthy romance gets an added kick from healthy doses of drama, danger, mystery and suspense. A simply wonderful read!
This ménage romance is book two in a series. It is written in first person from multiple POV.
Lucas and Hailey have already begun a relationship when they decide to add Lucas’ best friend Cy into it. There are some funny moments when they surprise Cy with this idea. The murder mystery in the small town continues to evolve in this book. Suspects are ruled out and secrets come to light.
I loved Hailey’s confidence and her ability to go after what she wants. I love the protectiveness the guys feel for her. I love that they recognize her avoidance of certain things and help her come to grips with them. Lucas and Cy are both lovable heroes.
I loved the plot, the passion, and the characters. There are a few errors that should have been caught in proofreading. They were a little frustrating, but did not take away from the enjoyment of the book. The whole series was a fun and fast read.

An interesting story about damaged people trying to make a relationship work – some are damaged physically and others mentally or emotionally. I liked that the guys both knew they needed each other to make the relationship thrive and it wasn’t just all about both of them lusting after Hailey from the start – although there was plenty of heat too! It just took a bit more to come full circle. I enjoy this take on the triad relationship and how they made it all work. Oh, and there is some drama and a bad guy too, of course!
Mountain Delights is the newest story by Vanessa Vale and I was very pleased with this one. I really enjoyed the turns the story, and in fact this whole series have begun to take. I feel like this series has a different feel and edge to it then previous books I’ve read from this author. And it’s a feel that I really like. I also really enjoy the continuation aspect. While this one was a standalone couple that was separate from the couple in the previous story, I do somewhat feel like the previous story should be read before reading this one. I liked the storyline that interconnects them and the way that that overall story arc is continuing to evolve throughout this series. As usual I really liked all of the main characters in this story. Vanessa Vale is really good at writing damaged heroes and heroines that you also really like as people at the same time. She is also really good at writing bad guys. She writes guys that are easy to dislike and hate a little. It just helps me to appreciate her leading men even more. I am really interested in seeing where this storyline will go. Especially with the way this story ended. I feel like there’s several different ways that things could go and I can’t imagine which way Vanessa Vale will take it. But I certainly plan to read the next book to find out. I also would highly recommend not only this book but the previous book in the series as well.
This book was a good read it had a solid story plot characters that you could connect with and following the journey of these 3 characters will leave you wanting to read more about them. No spoilers here I definitely like the book.
Mountain Delights is the second book in the Wild Mountain Men series, and while the romance stands alone, I highly suggest reading these books in order. Hailey is adrift after her skiing injury, but with the help of Lucas and Cy, the priorities in her life are slowly becoming clearer. But her men have issues of their own, and with the extra dangers of a murderer on the loose, is it possible for Hailey to find her happy future?
Whoa, the plot thickens, the mysteries continue, and the pages with Hailey, Cy, and Lucas get steamier than ever! I really enjoyed reading this book, seeing the twists and turns the murder has taken, and I loved the growing connection between the main characters. Hailey, while being a bit of a daredevil, runs from her problems and confrontations, but I loved how she knew what she wanted and went after it with confidence. Lucas has PTSD from his military career, but I enjoyed how he kept things fun and always put others first. Cy was a bit grumpy, but had the dominant nature that Hailey needed. I liked their scenes together, the steamy and the sweet. This book does focus on the relationship, but there’s plenty of the mystery in the background, too! I’m enjoying this series so far and am anxious to read what will happen next!
Vanessa Vale has written another beautiful, suspenseful romance with a hot menage involved. Hailey, Cy, and his best friend Lucas are in a relationship that could either heal or destroy them.
Hailey is a world-class ski champion that is in a relationship with Lucas. When both of them decide that they are missing something, they want to see if Cy would be willing to join their relationship. Cy is in pain and not sure this is the best thing for himself or them.
I enjoyed this story and can’t wait for the next one.
