If you liked Bridgewater County, you don’t want to miss this hot new series full of wild mountain men!
We want Kit Lancaster. We’ve wanted her for years. Both of us. Me and Donovan. It might not be normal for two guys to claim a woman together, but we live in Cutthroat, Montana and we’ll do what we want. And what we want to do is Kit.What could get in the way? Oh yeah, a little thing called … in the way? Oh yeah, a little thing called murder. And since I’m the lead detective and Donovan’s the prosecutor, it might not be the smartest thing to bed the prime suspect.
As if that would stop us.

I removed it from my Kindle. Not my kind of love.
When we start this book, Kit has just returned to a town she fled with new prospects to change her life for the better… only to be a suspect in the middle of a murder case… and the two men she fled from are the chief detective and DA on the case. It was unrequited love all around. Kit had a thing for both men and was willing to be with both of them before she left, due to jumping to conclusions, she broke her own heart. Nix and Donovan have been best friends and they both wanted Kit, her leaving only confusing them. They wanted to straighten things out and try again… but this little matter of a murder case was standing in the way of their happiness. They wanted her and were risking everything to have her, trying to solve the crime so that they have their HEA. The whole town was against Kit, some even before the murder, looking down their noses at Kit because she was poor and had a crazy Mom, including Donovan’s Dad and the murder victim, Erin Mills, father. Just went we thing all things are resolved and they will have their HEA, a wrench is thrown into the works…. Stay tuned!
Great read
So hot!! Loved. You got to see all the perspectives.
Well readers…I did it…I went there and broke the virgin MFM reading seal with Mountain Darkness, book 1 in Vanessa Vale’s Wild Mountain Men series. I started with one eye open not knowing what to expect and hesitantly viewed my kindle. Wonder of all wonders, my corneas did not burn out as expected!
Dare I say out loud that I actually enjoyed this book. I have to say that there is definitely a big difference when the book is written as a caring relationship with an actual story line. What’s not to like about two mountain men wanting to take care of you? Absolutely nothing, that’s what! The story is on the shorter side, so it makes for a great palate cleanser.
Vanessa Vale has gained a new fan. If you like super steamy romance, with a side of mystery and intrigue this is for you. I will definitely be reading the rest of this series as well as checking out the authors back list. If you take the plunge, you won’t be sorry. It will be our little secret:)
Great Great Read this is all I can say. You will live it.
I really want to move to Cut Throat, Montana.
her books are great .
This is a very good series
The three main characters are likable and have great chemistry. There is a dangling story line at the end but our threesome gets their happy ending and so I didn’t mind at all. Enjoy!
***I decided to review an ARC of this book.***
New series. Same State. Modern RH in her usual… but not usual storyline now…
WARNING: I CAN’T DO THIS REVIEW WITHOUT REVEALING SPOILERS!! CONTINUE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Of all of the RH series I’ve read, I’m not sure why I like Vanessa Vale’s material. Maybe because I need a jab of RH candy now and then. Maybe I agree that we should have polyandry legalized since women are sorely disenfranchised upon the death of a single spouse. (Boy! Did my mother find that out!!)
What makes this story (and following stories) different is that this is an arc (not ARC!) which isn’t her usual. This story kicks off a murder mystery which is definitely not her norm (based on my own readings of her material. This girl’s written a lot!). There is definitely and HEA, but the murder mystery won’t be solved.
I loved the main characters in this tale, and the two heroes are absolutely delicious. Vanessa Vale does do her job in working on their characters so that we do see dimension. Unfortunately, I only wish the usual antagonists had more dimensions, but maybe that was not necessarily meant to be. It certainly does set the scene on what kind of small town game of thrones is definitely going on.
My only problem was that maybe at the time, I wasn’t in the mood for my heroine to be held suspect to her employer’s death… until I figured out her alibi. (Vanessa Vale still has yet to specify. You would have to be familiar with pathological psychology to figure out. Once I did, I felt a lot better as I finished the book. Apparently, she must have concurred.)
I have read Mountain Delights, #2 in the Wild Mountain Men series, and it was awesome, too. And, no, the murder has yet to be solved despite a big red herring, but a bigger mystery was revealed at the very end. Augh!!!
Yes, I would definitely buy this book. And Mountain Delights! I’m rereading this one for the third time at the writing of this review!
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !
Kit is just back at Cutthroat Montana, when she is involved in a murder.
Isn’t that always the case ?
Nix and Donovan let Kit escape once, but not this time.
This time, they want to keep Kit in Cutthroat for good.
I think that Kit is agreeable to their plan.
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Another great book from Vanessa Vale! Two incredible men loving and protecting the one they love. They never back down and never give up on her.
A misunderstanding sends Kit running from the mend she loves but now they find out that she’s been back in town without letting them know. Nix only learns when he gets called out to a crime scene and Kit is being questioned. Kit was living with her friend Erin while she saved for a place of her own and was asleep when Erin was killed. So that automatically puts her on the suspect list. The guys want to reunite with her and know that it has to be kept quiet because of the investigation. But its hard when all the want to do is let everyone know she belongs to them. However Donovan is in the DA’s office and Nix is a cop so both will be actively involved in the case one way or another. Will they find who killed Erin? Can they finally be together?
This is an amazing story that will have you on the edge of your seat. It ends with a cliff hanger so be warned. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I am a huge fan of Vanessa Vale. So when I picked up this new series I thought I knew what I was getting into. While this story does have a lot of the same aspect as all her other stories, the story sets a new tone for the world she is creating.
Mountain Darkness is the story of Kit and her two mountain me, Donovan and Nix. These three have been playing cat an mouse with each other for some time now. However a misunderstanding lead Kit to run from her two men a year prior. The story begins with the unexpected turn of events, putting these three back in each other’s paths once again.
From start to finish, Vale ensures that we are given a hot and steamy love affair that keeps up on the edge of our seats to the very end. And the ending, that about a surprise! Even I didn’t see that coming, I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us next!

The first book in the A Wild Mountain Men Novel series a story that kept me turning pages, I want to read the next book. A place called Cutthroat, Montana where Kit Lancaster, Nix/Nixon Knight, and Donovan Nash come together after the murder of her friend Erin. A well written story. What an amazing start to this new series! I am a huge fan of Vanessa Vale (I’ve read all of her books), but I was not expecting this story! WOW! Mountain Darkness has all the steam and heart you expect from VV, but with a lot of mystery added. I need more from this series right now!! FIVE STARS!
It has been a while since I have read a Vanessa Vale story, so it was enjoyable to jump into a new series of hers. We get three beautiful characters and a mystery on top of it.
Kit is back in Montana, and she is finally getting her life back in order after running away from her home a year ago. She is ready to start her career with her friend and make a life. However, when she wakes up one morning and her friend is found dead, and Kit is the prime suspect her life is changed forever.
Nix and Donovan are the detective and district attorney in charge of the investigation. However, they also have been in love with Kit since they were all kids. They want to protect Kit but also know they have to keep this investigation going and in high regards. What will every one do to make sure a killer doesn’t getaway?
This story is fast-paced and the chemistry between these three jumps off the pages. I was highly surprised this story ended on a cliffy though. I can’t wait to read the next story!
Drama and mystery galore will have you glued to the pages in this newest release that doesn’t disappoint. I loved Kit, Nix, and Donovan’s character, their chemistry is steamy and their loving will leave you wanting more. I enjoyed their intriguing storyline and the flow of their story. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Wow! What a great start to a new series. I loved the premise of why Kit left town. This is a fabulous story with a mystery, suspense, lots of sexy heat and a very interesting ending. It will make you smile. If you liked Bridgewater you will love this series.
