A strong-willed woman, a heart-weary deputy, and a cozy mountain cabin. What could possibly go wrong… or right?
For Aelissm Davis, Northstar has always been home. She hoped she’d return someday, but not like this—exhausted by fast-paced city life and shadowed by an obsessive friend. Stubborn and independent, Aelissm likes to handle her own problems, but with Adam Winters, she may be in over her … over her head. It’s time to swallow her pride and call in reinforcements. Her meddling uncle’s solution—send his best deputy to Montana to protect her—makes Aelissm think he has more on his mind than her safety. The last thing she needs is another complication, and with those sad eyes and a gentle heart, Deputy Pat O’Neil is definitely that. Still, there’s something irresistible about the haunted man, and as her focus shifts from avoiding Adam to helping Pat overcome his demons, a different kind of problem arises. When his “vacation” is over, will she be able to convince him to stay?

Loved it
Good character study of how wounded souls can ultimately help each other. This was the first book in a boxed set that set me on an adventure in a beautiful Montana setting. Good read with HEAE which are the only kind I enjoy.
Aelissm was running from a bad relationship. Adam was stalking her and told
her he would find her and kill her and that she was his!! Her uncle sent her to the mountains and sent Patrick, a cop, to protect her.
Got so involved with the characters ended up with the whole series.
A very good read. Good character development. I liked the fact that the author tied up all the loose ends.
It was an easy to read entertaining book.
great story about how love can heal
She is an outdoors woman who is being threatened by a former friend. Her uncle send his detective to look after her. He is recovering his health, mental and physical. He helps her and she helps him. There is a happy ending.
A really good beach read!
Had good characters and it was good to see a male character go through what is typical of females.
Well written novel, with engaging characters. I find myself longing for a Mountain Romance. A definite Must Read!!!
Wonderful use of words in describing the scenery I could even smell the flowers and picture the hills.
I really did enjoy this book. I felt like I was drawn into the lives of the characters. I even bought the next eight books in the series! I wanted to know what was going to happen to the other characters. Her books have a twist that makes them different from the cookie cutter romances.
Alli and Pat are two people brought together by circumstance. Alli needs Pat’s help and Pat needs to heal.
The characters are well developed and down to earth; they are easy to like. I did enjoy the book, but felt like things moved slowly. It isn’t what I would categorize a “page-turner” but the story was a good one and gentle.
What I did like …
I enjoyed. I wanted a nice happy ending and this delivered. Good plot twist but the story line has been left open to continue and build on the characters and stories in future books.
Ok book. Felt a little trite and didn’t round out chapters very well.
Wrote a review when I finished this book, but BookBub is demanding a statement now. Ok, I enjoyed it enough to say again this is a good read. The relationship between the main characters is built gradually, making it feel more real. There is romance and SUSPENSE, with the dangerous elements having a couple of unexpected twists, plus a …
SPOILERS: The story went on a little too much. It was a tad predictable. After he decided he had to stay at the end, I just stopped reading. The author took to much time to get to that point, reiterating the main characters’ feelings multiple times.
I loved this book it was romantic and sweet and very entertaining and a bit suspenseful too.
Too much decription about “feelings” and very little other story line.
