Motorhomes, Maps, & MurderBook FiveA Camper & Criminals Cozy Mystery SeriesYou don’t want to miss out on book 5 of this hilarious and very popular cozy mystery series from USA Today Bestselling Author Tonya Kappes. Welcome to Normal, Kentucky, where nothing is . . . NORMAL!Mae West, owner of Happy Trails Campground, never thought she would become an actress like her namesake. Calling … actress like her namesake. Calling herself an actress might be far stretch as she plays a minor role in the local Civil War reenactment BATTLE AT CAMP WILDCAT.
When the reenactment doesn’t go as planned, not one but two of the town’s folks aren’t playing dead. . .they were MURDERED!
Come to find out there was a prison break and the serial killer is believed to be in Normal and someone has stolen a motorhome from Happy Trails Campground.
Are these connected?
Mae lets boyfriend and hunky detective, Hank Sharp, follow all the leads about the murders and on the trail of the serial killer because she’s got bigger s’mores in the fire.
The motorhome owners have filed a lawsuit and suing her for the deed to Happy Trails Campground. Mae has embraced Normal and there’s nothing or no one going to take her campground. She’s determined to find the motorhome and return it to the owners before she hands over any deed to anyone.
Mae just might find out that tapping into her namesake just might come in handy when coming face to face with a serial killer.

I am really enjoying this series. The characters are very entertaining and a good balance between the mystery aspects of the story and the getting to know the characters aspect.
I think this one is my favorite one yet! I liked that there was finally a resolution to the love triangle. The ending took me completely by surprise. I’m seriously loving this series!
A continuation of Mae West’s new life in Normal, Kentucky. With an inmate escaping from prison, a Civil War reenactment and a stolen motorhome, anything is bound to happen. Mae West uses her sleuthing skills to assist in solving another mystery. I enjoy these quick moving mysteries and the members of Normal, Kentucky.
So many secrets. It seemed like everyone had something they were hiding. Some were predictable but others were surprising. I figured out two of the “bad guys” but the third was a shocker. Should have thought it since they had a secret too. Not going to be able to read any more books without wondering who else is hiding something.
When Mae stumbles across a crime, she just can’t help herself. She has to dig in and investigate. I am in love with the town of Normal and the people in it. If you haven’t picked up this series, you are missing out.
I love Motorhomes, Maps and Murder! I love this whole series! It gets better with each book. The characters are fantastic. So interesting and fun. The mystery is interesting and keeps you guessing until the very end. Mae is so wonderful and so are all the Laundry Club ladies. This book was so good I could not put it down.
I highly recommend this series! Each book can be read as a stand alone. Though I do enjoy reading them in order as there is some character story advancement through the books.
An escaped serial killer, a stolen RV, and two murders…what is Mae getting into now?
Motorhomes Maps and Murder by Tonya Kappes takes place during the springtime before Mae’s first anniversary of moving in Normal. Mae is settled in nicely and joined the community, but in this fifth installment will Mae be able to keep everyone straight.
Our sleuth, Mae West
Mae West is our sleuth, and the story is told from her point of view. She has a lot on her plate to deal with in this book. Not only has Queenie talked her into being in the reenactment of a battle that took place there, but she also has to find an RV, and even after finding it she is having a lawsuit thrown at her. Mae is in for lots of drama and doesn’t know what to do about it.
Likes
• Mae’s loyalty to her campground and not letting people try to take it away with a lawsuit.
• Our sleuth’s way of solving the crimes even when she doesn’t mean to or knowing that she has done it is fabulous.
• That she is a dog lover as it helped in these cases so much.
Hank Sharp, love interest and detective
Hank Sharp is Mae’s love interest and the local cop. As always Hank doesn’t want Mae sticking her nose into this case as it is a dangerous one. It was a tough one for him to figure out even with the FBI agents being there to help. Hank is still very protective of Mae and is disappointed in her when she doesn’t do what he says or call in for backup.
Mystery
The mystery in this one was multiple crimes that intermixed together. The first crime is of Greaser Gadie escaping from jail and where he went. The second crime is trying to figure out who killed Greaser Gadie. Also, who killed two other townspeople. The murder weapon seems to be a bayonet but was it?
There are multiple culprits, and Ms. Kappes did another fantastic job of leading me astray with her nonexistent red herrings as that was the hard part of figuring out this crime. That is until the end of it, and it made a whole lot of sense. I can’t tell you more than that, but I was in for a shock as to who did it.
Five Star
Motorhomes Maps and Murder by Tonya Kappes is the fifth in the Campers and Criminals mystery series, and I now am all caught up. I loved the town of Normal, Kentucky. The people are so lovely and super sweet. However, Mae, she seems to keep finding dead bodies so, not everything is perfect. Also, check out the great recipes at the back of the book.
I am giving it a five-star rating and recommending it to anyone that likes cozy mysteries, and camping in a national park. Oh, what a perfect book to read around the campfire.
Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this review of Motorhomes Maps and Murder by Tonya Kappes.
Until the next time,

Another fun read in the Campers & Criminals Cozy Mystery series. This was the fifth in the series. This time there’s a Civil War re-enactment going on along, a prison break and RV theft. The town of Normal, Kentucky is far from normal. The people and the hilarious happenings are a hoot. Mae’s love life with Hank is getting interesting too!
This is the 5th book in the A Camper & Criminals Cozy Mystery series and the first in the series that I have read. I enjoyed this book and it can be read as a standalone. There is enough information that I did not feel lost. I have the others in my to-be-read (TBR) pile. I can’t wait to catch up.
In this story Mae West, owner of Happy Trails Campground and her friends are trying to stay out of a serial killer’s way. Also, a tenant at the campgrounds has his RV stolen. This makes for an interesting story.
I like the characters, the plot and the twists. I thought I had it all figured out but of course I did not.
The women of the town pull together so often. It is good to see strong women with different talents bonded over every day instances.
If you haven’t given this series a try, Do it!
Recipes and tips for RVing are included at the end.
I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I was given an Advanced Reader’s Copy and these are my own opinions. A positive review was not a requirement.
Once again I thought I had figured out the fugitive, but I had guessed wrong. Tonya is great at mixing humor, suspense, and romance into a well written novel. I especially loved how she continued to develop all of the characters and I am intrigued into finding out what is next.
I love a good cozy mystery with a Southern flair, and this one didn’t disappoint. This one had murder, mystery, and a good dose of humor. The characters are entertaining, and this one is a winner. I received an ARC of this book, but the review is my own.
great read
Mae is gearing up for the annual reenactment of the Battle at Camp Wildcat. This is her first time doing a reenactment and she isn’t sure quite what to make of the whole ordeal. All is going well until a convict escapes from the local prison. He made a statement when he was put in jail that if he ever got out he would kill all those who sent him there. When the Battle at Camp Wildcat has been acted out and finished a couple of the actors turn out to be dead. It looks like they were stabbed to death but who could have killed them and why? Was it the escaped convict exacting his revenge or could it have been someone else trying to throw the blame on said convict. Mae wants to help figure it out because she found the bodies but one of the Motorhomes has been stolen from her campsite. If she doesn’t figure out who took it and where it is she may loose everything. Follow along as Mae tries to juggle finding a killer, locating a lost RV, and helping out a friend in need. Will she be able to do all that needs to be done or will she drop the ball on one or more things? This is such a funny series filled with great characters, a lovely setting, and plots that will have you looking at everybody. I can’t wait to see what Mae gets up to next!!!
You’ve got harder than normal to deal with campers, there’s a prison escapee running wild and a reenactment that does not go as planned. What is a girl to do? Pull up her big girl panties and roll with it.
Mae is in over her head in this new cozy mystery (A Camper & Criminals Cozy Mystery Series) which is best read in order. Normal, Kentucky is anything but normal. But that is what keeps the tourists visiting their wonderful National Park. The scents, the fun, the scenery, the murders? Chaos begins when a prisoner escapes from the local prison-a prisoner that is a known killer and swore revenge on the local jurors that tried his case. When those jurors wind up dead after a re-enactment, they know that he is still in the area. Hank is on the case and is trying to keep Mae at bay with her questions on the escapee. Poor Mae has more to deal with than just a prison escapee, she has a missing RV and angry campers who are willing to pull the plug on her campground. Can she fix this mess while keeping her campground afloat? Are they tied into one another?
This story leaves you reeling at the end, because even the nicest people have the deepest secrets. Be sure to wrap up with a warm blanket and cup of coffee or tea because you will not want to put this story down!
Motorhomes, Maps and Murder by Tonya Kappes was another enjoyable book. Even though it is the fifth book in the “A Camper and Criminals Cozy Mystery” series if you haven’t read the first 4 books thats ok because this can very well be read as a standalone. I enjoyed this book so much I had to go back and read the rest of the series. This book has it all southern hospitality, humor and mystery and most of all quirky characters. Tonya definitely keeps you guessing with all the twists and turns. I did not want to put this book down. It is another very well written book that will keep you entertained until the last page. You will feel you are right there with the characters in Normal, Kentucky. I can’t wait for the next book to come out.
Motorhomes, Maps, and Murder is the fifth in the Camper and Criminals Cozy Mysteries. It can be read alone but you will want to read them all!
Normal, Kentucky is having their annual Civil War re-enactment. This is Mae’s first re-enactment and she has also been enlisted to be a performer.
As usual with Mae’s life, she has numerous irons in the firepit thus making this an enjoyable read. I couldn’t put it down.
You have plenty of twists and turns to keep you wondering. You get romance, humor ( I laughed out loud numerous times) but, most of all, I love the friendship that she and the Laundry Club girls share.
There are camping hacks and recipes included.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy.
This is the fifth book in this series and you can easily jump in and read any book and not be lost. Although I am sure once you read one you will want to read the rest. Normal, Kentucky in the Spring finds Mae in the middle of a Civil War enactment, a missing motorhome and a murder. Never a dull moment in this series. I love the characters in this series and Mae West is probably my all time favorite sleuth. Kappes style of writing flows smoothly and expertly draws you in and keeps you there. I always hate to see the books end. Love and highly recommend this serie
Motorhomes, Maps, & Murder is the fifth book in the Camper and Criminals Cozy Mystery series. The humor and mystery had me hooked throughout. I really enjoyed this story, and I definitely recommend it.
This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I am looking forward to reading other books by this great author.
Everything was going great for the people at Normal. The excitement in the air as the yearly Civil War Reenactment was scheduled for the weekend. THEN the un-expected happened. A convicted murderer escapes the prison where Rev. Lester and Dottie go and teach the inmates about the Lord. The reenactment goes on, and it actually left some people dead. The ones who were on the murderers jury, two are found dead along with the escaped murderer!!!! Then a motorhome is stolen out of Happy Trails Campground! Can Mae find out who took the motorhome. Oh you will never guess all that was involved with the prison escape and why! Blew my mind! Plus there is another ‘bomb’ at the end of the story. I can’t wait for the next one!!!!
